I recently purchased a blunderbuss off Ebay and wish to include it in my outfit at the PA renn faire.
It is longer and heavier then the normal pistols, more like a sawed off shotgun.
Any ideas the best way to carry this? Or make a holder for it, ect?

Renboots has a very nice pistol baldric and holster setup. I'm sure they would be willing to work with you if your blunderbuss is too big for what they have.

My Blunderbuss is about a few inches longer then those pistols, and like 2 times as thick, plus its solid wood and metal, not the cheap stuff, so its pretty heavy lol.
I got it at a steal. 20.00 on Ebay.
I paid 46 for my cheap flintlock pistol and that thing is fake wood. :)
I rigged a piece of leather like a mug strap around it to hang off the ring on my O belt, seems to work ok, I might incorperate some holder onto it.
Maybe a leather arm brace could be modified for your bb.

I saw this done to sling an umbrella or parisol on these forums, worked great. Same idea, wrap the bracer (with laces, not two straps with buckles) around the barrel with the grip sticking out, and attach it to either a belt or a baldrick by slipping the leather strap of the belt/baldrick through or between the crisscrossing laces. Works even better if the belt/baldrick has a hole to pass the laces through for a more secure hold.
a blunderbuss is more of a short fire arm rather then a big handgun, so carring it like you would a pistol really doesn't work too well. typically, I'll see them carried like a riffle in the crock of the arm, or on a sling over the shoulder. (but I might not be the best to respond since I don't carry non-working replica anything, Every gun I was seen with the last few weeks at the STL piratefest was real (as was the sword, the axe, the daggers and throwing knives, ect), and was fired during the day a few times.)
Last week, I did see a effective way to carry a Blunderbuss that I though was really nice. The guy carrying it took a short(ish) arrow quiver, and slid the barrle of the blunderbuss down inside of it letting a bit of the stock poke above his shoulder so he could reach over si shoulder and lower it right into fireing possistion at will for his shows.

Wow, real weapons huh? Thats pretty cool. A huge change from MD, where any weapon, even fake wooden swords, or sword SHEATHS are banned from our Faire.
I gotta be honest though, only cast and performers are allowed to carry working firearms, everyone else has to be content with peace tied non-working replicas. And its mostly only the cast that has reason to carry a firearm such as part of a scripted act.
but as for the rest of the weapons, it is nice that we're a weapon friendly faire. even if we are peace tied.
