Title: Identify Leather Worker in Texas
Post by: KiltedPrivateer on October 02, 2008, 09:24:38 PM
I'm trying to find a leather working couple who attended the commercial shoot of the faire that shall remain nameless outside Alvin, Texas.  If anyone knows what their website is could you post it here OR if said leather workers find this post could you send me your address via renmail?

Thank You All,

Michael

While I was present, and filmed during a combat sequence for said commercial, I do not recall any specific leather working couple. Could you perhaps provide more details to help identify them?

They were there for the filming "as" vendors.  They had laid their wares on the table that was uncovered in the middle of the tents.  I'm certain they frequent these forums, but I may not find them on this thread.  I may be forced post a message in the TRF forum in order to find them.

sorry, that doesn't help any more.  If you recall what they had displayed, I might be able to help further.

Is there something in specific you are seeking?  Mayhap I can point you to another leather vendor that could satisfy your needs.

If you'd like to move your post to the Texas forum, I'm sure Sir Martin won't mind since it's region specific.

The woman part of the couple was sporting a freakin awesome dual dagger holder on very nice leather belt.  If I remember correctly, the holder was cut in the shape of a heart. I would think anyone with an eye for fine leather work would remember that piece.

Was that the couple that moved their shop from Excal that make the beautiful leather bodices?

Very well could be.  In fact the leather bodices sound familiar.

Guys:

I'm going to kick this over to the TRF area... since it's more a "where are these people" than a, "I have this for sale" thread.

I hope you find who you are looking for.

Maybe Rev and Troy from Rev's Armour Werx?  I know that they were supposed to do the nameless faire.  As were we.  They are our next door neighbors at TRF.

They definitely have some great products but not the one item I'm looking for so I don't think they are them.

Thanks for moving this for me.  Hopefully that will help me.

Life tree leather? I sadly don't remember their names, though I should as I've watched their little girl on some occasions while out at fair, but they're an amazing couple and are out of San Antonio, I think. They had the cool looking wood structure out at Excal.

No, they do not vend there, but if you know anyone on the guild ship "The Blazing Sun" you might be able to find them there.

I wish they would vend at TRF!!!  They make fabulous leather bodices that are so unique and not all black and scary looking, which is great for some people but not at all my look.  Rumy bought a bodice that has a map of Neverland all over it and she adores it and gets the most compliments ever on it!  They live in Austin though and are a smaller vendor, so I think they can't get at TRF or something?

I know who you mean- but can't remember their name. They had a cute wooden building at Excal. I loved those bodices!

I dig the idea of the chaimail prom dress.  Darn good thing they went with aluminum for the rings...

Rumy is wearing the Neverland bodice this Sunday as a pirate, which fits perfect of course.  Hopefully we'll see ya'll around!

They really do quality work!  Their metal stays are unlike any I've ever seen.  They take saw blades and file off the jagged edge and use them.  They are the stiffest ones I've ever felt or seen!!

Elizabeth, you know very well where I'll be located. Chained to my station, okay not really chained, at The Pirates Cove. :)

I know, I know... I'm only saying that hopefully we'll get to swing by there at some point.  First weekend is always so unpredictable and we have 3 friends from Austin coming and 3 friends from Beaumont and we're all supposed to hang out together all day long... So who knows if we'll get to do anything we actually want!

I know, I've been wanting that Mauder's map corset forever, but my sister said I can't get anything that resembles even in the slightest her Neverland bodice.... and I can't think of any outfit I have that it would go with well, other than maybe my pirate garb, but I wear a jacket with that and would cover it up....  Still trying to brainstorm something to wear it with so I have justification to get it!!

I just looked at the site. Those Corsets are AWESOME! If I had the money and the body shape to work with one of theirs I definitely would.

Lady Elizabeth, your sister looks wonderful in her Neverland corset. It is so funny that she will not let you get one even slightly similar to hers.   :D ^_^

I will be telling some Harry Potter Fan friends of mine about that site.

Here's Rachel in her Neverland corset!!

I finally convinced her to let me have one made too.  I'm going to have the base color in white and trimmed with Gold.  And the map is going to be middle earth!!  I'm also going to hopefully have them draw on a fairy or two since this is mainly for my fairy outfit!

That will be Freakin Awesome... I'll have to track ya down once you have it, to check it out...  Now that I've found him I have to send him some cash so that I can have him make the frog that I fell in love with...

Yup it was Life Tree, I remember who you are talking about hun. I LOVED the mapped leather bodices they had there. I remember the frog you're talking about too. Remember that child pirate hat they had and it fit me perfectly????

I have no idea what frog, but I remember the cute pirate hat!!  They were at TRF last weekend, but they won't be back I don't think until Roman Bacchanal weekend Nov 8-9th.  They're trying to find a shop on site that might allow them to display their corsets for the season.  Please ignore that statement if it's illegal at TRF since none of us knew one way or the other and so it was simply a discussion until we got more info....

A frog is the piece of a belt that holds a sword or dagger sheath.

I believe a shop keeper can sell other peoples wares, however, I do know that faires are very strict about what you sell in your shop.

For example, if you are a clothier, you should not be selling mugs or swords or fairy wings.  Unless of course you happen to be the Sword Mug Fairy Wing Clothing shop and you have cleared your merchandise before hand with George or the vendor coordinator.

Therefore, they should be looking for a corset shop that wouldn't mind adding a third party's merchandise to their inventory.  Most likely for a percentage of the sell.

I was talking to a leather vendor in a tent somewhere.  Sorry, I can't remember the name.  They lost nearly all of their inventory during Ike.  They might be willing/able to since they sold leather goods.

So where was this tent?  Maybe I could stop by there this weekend and check them out.

I just got an email from Staward, life tree leather guy, and he has already bought the white leather for my Middle Earth Corset and said he'll try to finish it before TRF is out!!  How awesome is that?  Anyhow, I thought I'd post his email address in case others wanted to contact him about corsets or frogs or whatever.  My sister brought his business cards this weekend to TRF, but ran out on Sunday...  lifetreeleather@yahoo.com

*note, this is not a shameless plug since I do not in any way work for them, we are simply friends and I love their work and want to see it out at TRF more!!*
