I'll bring this back to the top when it's closer to the date but people have been asking about my next date at the Harp in November. Mark your calendars. I'll be there on November 20. It will be Trivia night so I'll start around 9 PM. I know a lot of you like to play Trivia so come early for that. It's $5 to join in and we can put a team together that will take the prize (a round of drinks and bragging rights). The proceeds go to support the Pittsburgh Celtics (one of the few occasions that the word is pronounced Seltics and not Keltics), Gaelic Football team.
The Harp and Fiddle knows us now and really appreciates us being there as do I. It has become our home away from Faire so let's keep the tradition going.
Isn't Seamus Kennedy there the next two nights, Nov 21 and 22? This could be one long and wonderful weekend!
That is at the same time good and bad. :D :( I forgot he was coming those dates. It would be wonderful if everyone came out for both nights but it usually doesn't work that way. I'm afraid those that have to choose one or the other will choose Seamus. Still, it would be a great long weekend to see people at both nights.
I'm gonna try for both, and see if I can't bring a crew again!

Great!!
Terry we plan on being there on Thurs and Friday. If you're getting reservations together for table for Seamus, please include us. Can't wait to see everyone!
As luck would have it I will be flying home from Colorado on the 19th.
I am planning on and looking forward to raising a pint or several with everyone.
I hope to be able to make both nights, Thursday and Friday. So save a spot for a very thirsty pirate!!!!
Captain, it will a pleasure to see you. I don't think I've ever seen you in "civies".
I shall be there on the 20th!
I will be there around 10ish (emphasis on the"ish"). I'm looking forward to raising a pint with you Captain! A prior musical commitment requires my attention.
Looks like you will need to hold two seats for us as well for Terry. We shall be there.
Kilted One, if you are talking about Thursday, there will be plenty of seats. Let me know if you are talking about Friday for Seamus.
One change: its not trivia night after all. I was given wrong information. I'll be starting at 8:00.
April, let me know if there are songs you want me to save until you get there.

awwwwwwwwww.....
your sweeet! :-*
I like it all! It will be great just to hear you singin' and playin'. But, I do like "Rainbow Connection!" hahaha!!! --- of all things to like! Kermit does it up good and right, but you make it better! I even have Kermit singin' it on MySpace videos!
I just want to point out that November 20 is also the final day of the Pittsburgh "Festival of Lights." I didn't think much about it until a few days ago, when I was downtown at night. One whole wall of the William Penn Hotel is lit by a series of projectors from across the street, and it's amazing! Other spots along Grant Street and near the Strip were beautifully lit as well.
Before you come to the Harp & Fiddle, drive around the city a little and enjoy the light show.
Terry, I'm sincerely sorry that I was unable to attend last night. You know it is truly one of the highlights of my month.
I've been visiting our extended fest family at TRF, and I just got back early this morning.
I bring greetings from Dashing, Cowboy, and The German Brothers, and we caught up with others from the Pittsburgh show as well.
But I'm sorry to have missed you all...!
Terry thank you once again for a fun filled evening spent with our "Special" Renn family. We really enjoyed your performance on Thursday, it brought a little bit of the faire to a cold and dismal almost winter evening. Seamus as always was so funny on Friday, my side still hurts from laughing.
We look forward to both your next show 12/18 and Seamus on 1/2/09.
Believe me, it was my pleasure. Thank you all for coming. Both nights.
For those of you who couldn't make it, here's a little sample of the evening with Seamus:

When is the next time everyone is going to the Harp and Fiddle?
Sir Raymond,
I'll be there on January 15th. That's a Thursday night starting at 8:30. I'm hoping everybody will show up.
I'll be there!
I'll see if I can get some of my "gang" together then.
thursdays are hard though.
We will miss you all-Terry, sorry to let you down this time. Brie is having her gallbladder removed tomorrow, spent the weekend in the hospital, and has housewarming coming up next weekend...she and John bought a new house in West View...so, looks like I have my hands a little full. Keep her in your thoughts, and we will be thinking of all of you! Hope next month might work out a little better!
In light of the predicted weather I don't know if this is good or bad but they have me starting at 8:00 and playing until 11:00. The weather looks bad but the worst will be over before the evening and the roads should be open by then. Don't risk your life for a good time and miss a lot of good times because of it.
I hope to see you all but if you can't make it I would rather see you safe.
See you soon.
Slainte
I may not be there. I have practice tonight. Unless it is cancelled, I will not be there.
You could suggest that they have practice at the Harp. I'll even let them do a tune as a group. Wouldn't that be great? We could get the sopranos liquered up and doing the motions to Black Velvet Band and the basses can tear up Wild Rover.
hahahaha! that WOULD be fun! :D
I am still hoping that it gets cancelled... the music director is sick and I'm hoping she feels too sick to have it!
hahahahhaha!!! woop woop! practice is cancelled! I be there! *dancin' in my chair* :D

Terry, it's so nice of you to think of us. But honestly, what's the weather issue? It's going to be
cold. OK, it's going to be
dangerously cold. But I'm not walkin' there, and it's warm in my car. I'll see you tonight!
Hey Terry! Had good time and enjoyed seeing so many of you again! Let us know when you're playing next.
On Thursday I debuted a new song at the Harp. It's called "Smoke a Cigarette" and it was video taped for YouTube. Here is the link :

Check it out and leave a comment.
I thought this might be an appropriate time to bring this back up to the top-I believe Terry is playing the Harp this Thursday, Feb. 12-it may be a good time for all of us to spend some time together, raise a glass, and share some memories. I know Bill and I are going to try to be there.
We alas will not. We are chaperoning a high school Valentine's Day dance.
Unfortunately prior obligations will prevent me from attending on Thursday (Terry, Friday gigs!). Sue should be able to make it however.
I'm modifying this post. While I may not make it, my chances are looking better. See you Thursday (fingers crossed)!
With school in full swing, I will not be able to make it... :'(
Laurie and I are going to try to make it.
I have a meeting to attend at 9:30. If I can, I'll make it afterward. If not, I'll be there in spirit.
Well, that was not quite the plan! Sorry we missed you Terry...I am sure it would have been a great night out, as always. Unfortunately...deer and headlights don't make a good mix. Luckily, we are all in one piece, and hopefully, the van won't need too much repair...and hopefully we will see you all soon! Mumsies
I just found out my next date at the Harp will be March 19. That's Trivia night so come early and wear your thinking cap.
After the St. Patrick's Day madness is over and we return to what we like to call normal, we can once again take over the Harp and Fiddle on March 19th. It is Trivia night so you know what that means. Come before 7:30 if you want to play and if you don't want to play, wait until 9 and most of the Trivia players will be gone and there will be seats and parking places.
I'll play the "Song of Sir Wulf" so you can hear the words this time.
See you there.
do any of you go see ceann or scythian when they are at harp and fiddle? just curious, as, i know they are pennsylvania renaissance faire acts. didnt know if their popularity spilled over to the burgh ren faire crowd.

Both bands play the Harp but not as frequently as other bands. I know they are both excellent and I have heard Ceann several times. I've heard a lot about Scythian, all good but they don't seem like as much of a Ren Faire act.
I don't see many other acts at the Harp because I'm usually playing somewhere else but there are several Ceann fans on this forum.

yeah, scythian is a great ren faire act. ceann too. i think it is great they are building their base this far west. more of a celtic rock thing, but they draw huge crowds at celtic fling and at the pennsylvania renaissance faire.
We have a crowd anytime Ceann plays the Harp and Fiddle.
Scythian I don't think I caught yet in the city, but saw them this past weekend in DC.
