Title: Having a dress made
Post by: Bugsy on November 01, 2008, 11:46:56 AM
I really don't know how to go about this.  I suppose this may not even be in the right section  ???

I only have 1 picture of a dress that I REALLY want for a certain occasion, there used to be a web site that made this dress, but I can't find it anymore and luckily I saved a pic of the dress onto my comp.  I have about 10 months until I need it.

Does anyone know how I go about finding a seamstress to make a dress with just a photo?  thank you!

There was a thread about those who will sew for others...it may have been on the old forum, but it may have been resurrected here...

*eta*...I didn't find anything in the sewing, garbing, or buy/sell/trade sections....

Maybe if you posted the picture someone here could identify what seamstress made it. We really need a new those who sew for others thread, who do we contact about making and stickying one?

Here's the dress.

I would probably make some simple (i think) changes to it

That looks *a lot* like something by Arcane Lore (http://www.arcanelore.com) (it even looks like their mannequin).

Oh wow!  I almost went with one of the accolades from their catalog.  They have beautiful stuff!

That's not the actual thread, we used to have a thread with all the seamstresses specialties and website links.

Once you fins a seamstress close enough for fittings (i'm in the UK, or I'd love to help!), you might like to read this: http://www.diceyhome.free-online.co.uk/KatePages/HowToGet/how_to_get_the_best_from_you_dre.htm
