"i have taken the 27th (a friday) and the 28th (a saturday) for myself.....for you

if you want entertainment may i suggest that everyone chips in ten bucks and we split it between whomever performs. these nights are for you people, if not specifically, then generally. by your being there, you make the castle better. you do not have to pay for your enjoyment

so, let it begins.....number 7 is coming"
______________________________________________________________________________

here it is all, mark thy calendars, make thy plans.
what will it be, a pot luck, a Cauldron of Ultimate Pot Luck, entertainment, side shows, games a plenty, old and new 'Castleteers", there are just so many options, is it not great that we have all these options.
now that thee "Captain" has used once again one of his personal weekends for us, as he said-

"let it begins.....number 7 is coming"

on a side note, and the "Captain" will denounce this, but me Belle and me will anyway,
every time we visit the "Castle" we pay for the tour $3.00 each. in this way we feel that a little something is given from us. as me said, just a side note. ;)

Lady Everclear is waiting until after the first of the year to request off, as she works crazy retail, and is afraid she'll catch hell if her supervisor thinks she's requesting off a weekend during the holiday (because her supervisor doesn't look closely at things, apparently).  We'll know soon enough if she's coming.  =D

I did tell her that I and anyone that wishes to join me, will be there to kidnap her, fully garbed, if they deny her that weekend.  XD

Yup! It figures. The young'ens spring break starts that weekend and we are leaving to visit family...but not until early Sunday a.m.  ;D
So ... please help with my confusion ... does the overnight-potluck-feast-o-plenty occur on Friday night or Saturday night? And/or, on what evening will you all be there?

well now, this be'n me first post on this topic for this New Year. so we start to plan, mark calendars, request time off from works, decide what thee will bring to add to the food stuffs, and get excited that it is only a couple of months away.  ;D
to do the catch up thing- our ren daughter, Capn Lucy, thee are mark'd to attend dear one, jinx, we have added Lady Everclear to the list'n (Hmm, ? now the question is- do we share with Lady Everclear our favorite beverage, To give Or not to give, that is the question.  ;)..)
our friend StareNorthSteve, sounds like a possible show for you and the archery department at this next "Gather'n". so's thee and yours will be show'n on the list'n also.
as far as when, as good peoples, Carl and Donna have state'd, not sure if there is a Friday night includ'd, we will have to wait for our "Captain humphrey" to announce, yea or nae'. but as far as the "Ultimate Cauldron of Pot Luck" goes, this also has not been confirmed as of yet, yet all please still plan on bring'n food stuffs and snacks.
well all, this be our update, may all be well.
to serve,
i be the Old Tinker and his Belle...

Quote from: PyroDocsInstead of me lugging that cauldron back and forth from KY, I left it Humphrey's / The Castle's care after the last one.

I will gladly supervise the cauldron again, (and do a better job of stirring this time)

good PyroDocs(Peter the Beer Slayer) has confirmed that he will supervise the "Ultimate Cauldron of Pot Luck" for our "Gather'n on March 28th. so all please plan on bring'n something to throw in the pot, that is something edible and just one stone.
me's has carried this quote over from our Ky Highland "Castleteers".

our dearest Cara, they contributions have bin mark'd, and our good friend Angus thy supply's are also put down on the list'n.
all, our "Captain humphrey" has spoken on the Friday evening plans, me's have carry'd it over from our Highland forums-

humphreybot

hey all

i hope everyone had the holidays they hoped for (thats about as damned ambiguous as i could be)

friday? friday? of course we will have friday!!!! we had a blast! i am still looking for the video of donna bouncing up and down chanting "jenga, jenga". anyone that doesnt make it on friday is missing the most fun of the entire weekend.

as for the cauldron, it is in my garage. and my the time the gathering arrives it will be properly tempered and seasoned. i realise that the poor thing is not accustomed to such treatment (peter) but it will be in its best form and ready to serve. note, this is what happens when you leave your cooking equipment with cooking geek  the shame is, it will take pounds of lard to season the damned thing. no worries, i know a big just "dying" for the opportunity to help

once again, i want to thank all of you people for bringing life to an old organization. the kogt is 82 years old (the castle is 80) and you ALL are legend. your fellowship is EXACTLY what Harry had hoped to create. the only shame is that it took so long to accomplish. the genisis of the castleteers is amazing. a couple years ago i was organizing a weekend festival/fundraiser for the castle and decided the best way to advertise it was at the source....ie where the rennies hang out. so i posted on the ren faire forum. i noticed that the people in cincy tried to hold a "meet up". 3 people attended. so i suggested the next one be at my castle. only 5 or 6 people commited, so i decided to invite the viking as filler. by the third gathering we were drawing in people from across the continent. now some people have stated that the gathering has "changed". but, you know, having created and organised the thing from the beginning i disagree. it is far more diverse and inclusive and, lets be honest....FUN. the fundraiser peter and james organised was the best yet. true pillars of what we have created. you are the first ever people from outside the organization to try to help and there will never be enough praise for you.

as always, i look forward to seeing all of you awesome people. and i promise that this time i will have a couple beers before the tour ( i hadnt realised my tours were boring when i was sober, thank gosh the kids all summer long dont notice lol)

Lady Everclear and I will both be there Friday and Saturday nights.  =D

We're going to attempt making Loki at some point, though with our work schedules, there's not guarantee that it will be complete before the Gatherin'.  If it is, we'll bring some.  ...Once we figure out exactly what we want it to taste like, at least.  (Any suggestions?  XD)

If I can get my MIL out of the house long enough to overtake -her- kitchen for a few hours, I'll probably bake something as well.

Oh what a twist'd web we weave.  ;) LOKI,  LOKI,  LOKI !!
tis now February and we are within two moons of the next "Castleteer Gather'n".
me Belle and me are now pretending that we are in the Ren Days-
had no phones, land line or cells,
no electricity, which means no running water,
so we use candles and lamps,
hall water with buckets, and heat some on the wood stove,
cook over the wood stove, and enjoy the time of silence together,
(kinda like the "Old Days").
and to put it blunt, and me's said it before,
me's could sure use  an ale, but this Old Tinker is a patient man,
and those two moons shall pass quickly,
may all be well,
at thy service,
i be the Old Tinker and his Belle...

our dear friends Conte and Countessa,
we also have a generator, but it is a small one that can keep the freezer go'n with a light or two. now bath'n we do just find. see you just have to take some snow and rub it all over, let it freeze and chip away the grim  :o  NO, not really, we heat water on the wood stove, put it in a bucket, stand on a chair outside the shower and pour it on each other. works real well. but those at work think that me's gett'n ready for ren fest since me's have not shave since our power has been out (me's protesting, not gonna shave till powers back on).
silence is only in the late eve'n, since we have our daughter and her man with three of our grandyoung'uns stay'n with us, along with me Mum. so the quiet time is later in the day that we sit together and think out loud. and soon we will be ren grands of our Dear Capn Lucys child. me's already make'n plans on her baby cart, so that like me other grandyoung'uns, (just for reference please understand) "TinkerBelle" will have an period type carriage, so that ren fest'n for both Capn Lucy and child will be made a little easier. okay it was gonna be a surprise, but this Old Tinker has a big mouth.
be well all,
your Old Tinker and Belle...

I could hug you.  And, for once, not for rum (though, I'll tackle Maeve for it!).  XD  I've finally slid head-first into vegetarianism.

I, too, am thinking of baking/making something to bring.  It'll have to be a surprise, though, since I probably won't actually know what it's going to be until I actually make it.  O.o  Any requests?

jinx, Lady Everclear and our Windchime, all thy food stuffs has been mark'd down on the list'ns.
our Ren Daught Capt Lusy, should we put down for thee a gallon of milk, not sure but we are go'n to, but thee let me know if thee was just kidd'n (may sound funny- milk at a "Castleteer Gather'n", but with thy condition, all should understand).
good Count Carl and Countessa Donna, there has been other inquiries, but have heard not as of yet. there always seems to be a surprise of some sort each "Gather'n" though, and not always can it be call'd entertainment.  ;D

with just a few short weeks to go, me thinks others as me's and Belle are get'n a little excited about our Seventh "Gather'n".
as winter blows away, and spring is in the air, the "Castleteers" shall "Gather" once again, and all shall enjoy the company of each.

there may be some that "need" to fest,

could you post a little something down there on TN threads ?

Welcome to this week's edition of... SNS UPDATE.
Brought to you in part by the Castleteers and the makers of Guinness.

It looks as if I wont know about Friday night until the week of. (and Saturday is a no...@#$%!!!!)

I've read that Friday night is it's own evening of good-times. I assume that "dressing for the occasion" is more of a Saturday thing and Friday night is more of a mundane pre-game event. Can anyone shed some light on what would be considered "good form" for Friday?

Also, please chime in, who'll be kicking off the week at the castle on Friday? (In my case...Friday night would be my only Ren/Castleteer fix. Missing Saturday is seriously a bummer)

so good man, SNS sounds like there will be several at the "Castle" Friday even'n.
such as : Carl and Donna, jinx and Lady Everclear, CapnFaye and me thinks Capt. Lucy her sis will be with her. now Imestra and Curtro show'd last time on Friday also, and never forget that our "Captain" is always present. so there will be many that take the challenge to enter into the most acclaimed "Drunken Jenga" competition, and sounds like our dear CapnFaye will be bring'n another game for all to enjoy.
dearest Bugsey, what great news this is that thee will be able to attend. me Belle and me will get thee back on the list'n, right after this post'n. also we shall mark those that we think will be attend'n on Friday even'n (please correct us if we mark someone down that should or should not).
our ren daught CapnFaye, thanks, we new that you would take care of it. now Avidd is still plann'n, but it would be great to see Gimli at the "Castle", along with anyone else that may be interest'd.
Ah, tis come'n closer, thee can tell by the post that are start'n up again on this topic and how we all are gett'n a little excited to meet once again and see our brethren and sisterhood of the "Castleteers". if thee knows what kind of food stuff thee will be bring'n and have not post'd as of yet, please do so and me Belle and me will credit thee on the list'n.

only 30 more days  ;D  until we all "Gather" again,

we also are count'n the minutes, tis been a while and a test'n winter for me Belle and me, and we are ready to be at the "Castle" to start off our "REN FEST SEASON 2009" (boy that sounds good).
all be safe,
treat others as you would want to be treat'd,
and brush your teeth,  ::)
and we shall be watch'n - ALWAYS,

Things are a bit up in the air with us.. I'm working two jobs now and my second job is "occasional" weekends, but never do we know til the last minute. I'd request off..if I had days to use, but being in the probationary period.. I gotta play it safe. So.. assuming that I am off that weekend and can make it.. we were considering coming up Friday.

HOWEVER.. we wouldn't get there til.. 10pm or so. Whatcha think.. too late? should we just wait and come up Saturday? I hate decisions..  ::) ;D

See you guys sooooon!!!  :D

PS: Even if I can't come up, I think Kadden and Layla are still planning on a visit. :) I forgot to add that..

Just a note to let you know Aunty Lou (Imestra's sister and cohort) will also be attending.  Will bring goodies (Thinking of something in the pie range) and drinkage (Got some wonderful little liquers made).  Am thinking Saturday afternoon, and hoping for Friday e'en.
Been talking it up, and gotten nibbles from local Rennies, but it is notoriously like herding cats.
But never fear, whether there arrives a multitude, or a plentitude of merely meself, I am assured of a grand time withal...

Master Tinker,

We beg your indulgence, please mark your scroll, we shall only be attending Saturday, our work will prevent us from attending on Friday, my Lady, and I will be bringing "Newbie's" to the Castle, although they are longtime Rennie's, They've just never been exposed to the Castle, much less to a wonderful crowd as these "Castleteer's", I do believe that they will fit right in.

Yeah, we're only bringing a little with us.  XD  It didn't come out quite as we had hoped in the first place, though.  (Did you know that mint overpowers absolutely -everything-?  I didn't.)  I'm hoping it's at least drinkable.  XD  We had fun playing scientist, though, which was more the point than anything else right now.  Get it figured out, THEN make a really good batch.

We have a nice list of "Next time we need to..."  (And a box marked "Urine Samples: Do Not Taste.")

I posted on the Ky forum that it looks like you can include us in the gathering the 28th (and quite likely the 27th as well) but you never replied, nor added me to the list.
Please add Ariyana and Jared Thorne... we will likely bring veggies of some sort for the pot, mabe some bread.. and some sort of chocolate evil.. as long as I have time...

I am going crazy waiting!!  :-\

Papa Tink,
Would you add to our list'n? I have a friend (Andrew) from St Louis coming to play with us! I'm excited that he'll finally get to meet the people I talk so much about!   ;D

We generally visit St Louis Faire in late May (and we intend to this year as well) but he is in need of a ren-fix as well and it's a long way til May, so he's agreed to make the seven hour trip here for the weekend.. I knew he couldn't resist the charms of me and my wench.

Thanks, Papa!

As for the rest of yas... Is everyone counting down?  :D

dear Maeve our Ren daught,
Andrew has been add'd to the list'ns.
sooo when Andrew makes it to our next "Castleteer Gather'n", there will be seven states (that me's know of), that will have at least one representative of "Castleteers".
THE STATES: Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan, Indiana, Tennessee, Texas, and soon Missouri.
not bad, not bad at all...

me Belle and me are like you Maeve, count'n down the days-
19 DAYS to go  ;D

hey Tink? for those of uswho have never attended a castleer gathering before, can you let us know what we need to bring with us?

Beverages, I assume. Paper products to eat on/with? Feast gear? cost? aka do we need to bring money for the events? Anything else newbies should know? (feel free to chime in everyone lol)

Also Same kind of questions for you , dear Sir Humphrey, for Friday night? as well as let us know what the main dish is, so we can perhaps plan to bring a side that would coordinate? and if anyone is interested we might bring our copy of Apples to Apples.

Just trying to pretend like I am ready for this!

Lady Ariyana, good day to thee.
okay, step by step-
beverages - why of course, bring your favorite and most bring a few extra for others to try.
paper products & gear - there always seems to be plenty to go around, due to everyone brings enough for everyone else.
main dish - good man Peter will con-cok his supreme "Ultimate Cauldron of Pot Luck", so bring something to throw in the POT, (on first page of this post there is a list'n of whoms come'n and what there bring'n, please check it out.)
cost - not a cent, our "Captain" uses his weekends for our "Castleteer Gather'ns". (but me Belle and me always pay for a tour- $3.00 ea. )
other items - bedrolls, air mattress's, sleeping bags, even some bring elec. blankets, and your favorite pillow.
friday eve'n - mundain dress, game night competition, (drunk'n Jenga).
there thee be Lady Ariyana. me's want one of those HUGs from thee.  ;D

alright everyone, what is this Old Tinker forget'n ? me's always do ya know.  ;)

ahh we won't be staying the night. We live close enough to easily go home, plus I wouldn't be comfortable leaving the 3 kids, most particularly the 4 1/2 year old all alone all night. so we will show up at.. well I am assuming 5 or so... and leave when we get tired or what have you... and go home to our own beds and to our kids.

But a hug or more you shall have dear man. That's almost a given!

the current policy is that we dont use harry's park, but we do have tables and seats and a fire area on the top level of the gardens, it even affords a bit of seclusion and privacy

maybe next time steve :P

they are burning wood like crazy, so if anyone has  something to burn you might grab a handful lol  they are expanding the garden among other projects

After many prayers, wishful thinking, some spells, and even a few sacrifices (thrown in for good measure). I' am saddened to say the worst has happened for myself & company as we will not be attending due to the predicted weather pattern that will be plague the Loveland shire this weekend.

For those that set forth we wish for you the absolute best as you shall be in our thoughts & prayers

Till we meet again

one cool thing about rain, it will keep away the regular visitors. which could mean more time and room for us. remember though, the castle still has its winter chill on, especially in the north wing.

Hey tink.. my crew may be growing... due to some unfortunate problems with thier house, 2 of my other friends may be coming with us on saturday. so maybe put Duncan O'flynn and his lady down as possibiles. I might not know until Saturday for him.
Also, if my babysitter ends up unavailable (yes she is my daughter but her schedule keeps changing of things she can't change sigh) would anyone be upset if we brought the 4 1/2 year old princess with us Saturday? Jeff Rooks said he thought it was family friendly and would be okay but I wanted to check with you guys, since no one else mentioned kids..

p.s. I am starting to feel better. no fever for over 24 hours now, and while still sinusy it is improving... I might not be 100% by Saturday but hopefully will not be too bad nor hopefully contagious. I just still seem to take longer than I might prefer to kick things..but I am better than I was in the winter. (though still not back up to how much iron I am supposed to be taking.. bad me.. but they upset my stomach so I go through phases...)

Can't wait!

Mom (Lady Helen) has been baking up a storm for this weekend.
so far she has made oatmeal cookies, banana nut bread , banana bread (no nuts Lucy), chocolate chip cookies and she plans on doing the triple chocolate brownie with and without nuts.

Jinx no fair I want my soul back too. :( But I need insurance so I have fun making them bend over backwards for me. Gotta love being some what disabled. I've given them 14 years of my life. 15 years this Nov. :'(

Don't worry Papa Tinker, oil's getting changed tomorrow, and they fill up the washer fluid when I have that done. Should be good to go. I'll even throw in the first aid kit just in case. Flashlight, lots of blankets, we're all set. :)

So it's looking like 44 for a high on Sunday. Egads that's gonna be cold. Low of 41 Saturday night, high of 60. Rain on Sat, possible S-Word Showers on Sunday. I gotta remember to pack my coat now...

as of 11:45 am Friday
Not a bad lead in to the weekend today but conditions will start to go downhill through the weekend.  We'll deal with some clouds today but it will be mainly dry with temperatures getting close to 60 degrees this afternoon.  Clouds will thicken tonight and we could catch a shower or two but rain chances start to rise tomorrow.

The weekend looks wet at times especially later Saturday and into the first part of Sunday.  Showers will increase through Saturday afternoon with some storms a possibility tomorrow night.  We start Sunday with leftover rain showers and then colder air filters in with highs only in the 40s and breezy conditions.

Friday high of 60, 20% chance of rain, overnight low of 45. Saturday high of 60 breezy and a 70% chance of rain. overnight low of 40. which means plan to be dressed warm overnight and Sunday morning. Sundays high will only be 45!

I am wondering if people staying at the castle overnight and maybe even those just coming for the evening should be prepared with flashlights and such in case of power outages?

Chocolate bliss cake is baking... in a castle-y shape pan even! chocolate chip cookie dough brownies should be made later.. and hopefully some bread as well.

I want to thank Everyone for the wonderful time we had Saturday night. And of course first and foremost to Captain Humprhey!

To Tink and Belle for being so wonderful. To Jeff and Chris for the music to smile to! To everyone for the wonderful hugs and kisses!
It was great to see faces I have missed like Peter and Lucy (oh and to behold my Lucy glowing as she was!!) and to meet new friends and to put faces to names...
I hope everyone found thier way down to the kitchen for the castle shaped chocolate bliss cake or the chocolate chip cookie dough brownies... I did leave a plateful when we finally departed somewhere after 1:30. It was much harder to leave everyone than I had anticipated...
I hope it isn't too long before we can all meet up again!
Until then..

{{{{{{{bearhugs to tide you all over}}}}}}}}}

I too want to thank everyone for the welcome that Mike and Mona and I received. I was really nervous. I have to push myself to get out and meet people cause of my disorders.  Last time I came at Sarah's invite and she introduced us around. This time we met people ourselves. You all made us feel really welcome. So thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Many thanks to all, as usual I cannot wait until the next one.

I will post a link to the Photos once I get them downloaded.

I brought back lots of memories, and seemingly a head cold as well. but it was a small price to pay for the fun had!

Kadden, Myself, My Wench and My Andrew would all like to give a big thanks to Humphrey and the rest of the Castle Crew.  ;D Without all of you, we wouldn't have such a wonderful place to meet and give our thanks and support to Harry.

And to Princess (Who you did toast during the music), she will definitely be missed and always wandering the halls.. in some form or another.

Thank you again for such an awesome gathering, I'm already ready to think about the next! Maybe next time my wench and I can be on the list for entertainment! Again - thank YOU!

It has only been five days since the weekend and already I'm deeply sad it could not have been a longer weekend. It was so great to see everyone face to face, and to encounter new people as well.

I wait anxiously for the next gathering, and hope to see you all around the faire this year. Either here in Ohio or in Kentucky (yes, I'm finally invading Kentucky!) . . . . .

Awww,. yer too kind, Lass!  I hear tell there be another gatherin' the second weekend in April?  If that be so, I intend to be there with bells on!  Lookin' forward ta seein' ye there!  {{{Hugs}}}

on the second weekend of april (the 11th and 12th) my idea for fighting the depression start. it is called the Knight's Tourney. it is a fund raiser without being a fund raiser. the second weekend of each month, april through september,  we are having a "mini faire". we open at 10 am and close at 6pm. we will have entertainment.....ie music, comedy and even swordfighting comedians that want to sing. also present will be various vendors some you may know, some you may not. we also will have some historical re=enactors around doing demonstrations. we wont have food or drink, but we have a great public picnic area (kiss off symmes township).......all for the normal price of admission to the castle, 3 bucks.   the shows will be hourly starting at 11am going til 5pm

it is not a castleteer event. i wish it was, i had the calendar marked but somehow, even though i asked to keep those weekends clear, they have all been booked. fortunate a couple of them we will be able to work something out, because they are wedding and they tend last last only a few hours at most. the others are overnights and ghost hunters, which go on all night. the downside to this is last year i made promises to our volunteers that they could stay at the castle. fred invited ladies from ky faire that will be driving 3 hours each way and then he booked the nights so they cant stay :P my point being it is inconvenient for everyone envoled and it rules out castleteers. you can come visit though and with proper planning (if the interfeering event is a wedding) we will get a couple nights out of it.

any questions please message me
