Post by: Var Greyshadow on November 24, 2008, 01:15:04 PM
See my latest post in my intro thread: http://www.renaissancefestival.com/forums/index.php?topic=737.15

Many of you know we were working on this.  We closed on our house on Friday!!!

Yes, there will be a McLotofus party sometime in the early part of 2009 after we've gotten settled in.

Congrats Var!  We went through a similar situation when we bought our house a few years back.  Unfortunately, ours was not renovated and that is up to us.  Yep, we have torn up flooring, holes in walls and all of the cozy comfort of tools strewn about the house  :)  .....a labor of love i suppose  ;D

What a gorgeous house!  Congratulations and best of luck to you both.

Pictures 5, 6, & 7 remind me of a Tudor house, with the wood on the walls and the ceiling.  You said it was renovated.  They did a beautiful job of it.  Everything looks new and clean and sparkly.  The floors are fantastic, and the kitchen is a dream, with so much space.  I love the bathroom sink and countertop.

I'm so happy for you two!

It's 1925, but some of it seems like a transition from Victorian.  Except in the master (which was added later), the ceilngs are 10 feet, and it looks like it should've had transoms between the rooms.  (We may do stained glass in the kitchen/dining room divider at some point.)  The floors are the original pine from 1925, and there's only one bad spot in the whole house.  The kitchen was a big part of what kept us coming back to this place despite all the trouble in getting it.

Spent a lot of my time off for Thanksgiving ferrying stuff over there, but it's going to be a while before we're really moved in.  Lawrence has a long list of little projects - the current owner never quite finished most of what he started.  good taste and a good attempt, but he left us a lot of detail things to do.

Bonnie, and anyone else who can't see my pictures - I'll post some of them in my intro thread tomorrow, when I'm on my magic box at home.  Mac is a bit touchy about having to have an up-to-date browser.

I cant wait.  My work comp wont let me see them.  My browser is too out of date and since I'm not an administrator :(

The house sounds just marvelous.  Those were the houses built to last.
