Title: Hair braiding/err. whatever it is called
Post by: mpullen on November 25, 2008, 05:13:38 PM
Okay, this is way outside my experience level.

I've grown my hair since May, just to try an idea for my future Druid King persona. I'd like to try braiding some of my hair and weaving in beads and feathers.

Anyone care to stop by this weekend and give me some ideas? Since I can't see the back of my head, I'm not sure if this idea will work, but what the heck, the hair gets cut short Monday and the beard goes at the same time (back to corporate image).

Or should I just stop by one of the hair braiding shops infaire and see what they have to offer?

Okay, departing the silly zone and getting back to packing for tomorrow.

I would ask a hair braider! NOOO. Why are all the handsome lads cutting off their hair and beards? Don't do it!

Don't cut the hair!!

I would ask a hair braider as well.  They would be the best guess for how to do it and make it look very well.

Yep, hairbraiders are most likely your best bet.  They can be a little pricey but it will last all weekend.

Twisted Sisters is who I'd reccommend.  They are located near the entrance to Sherwood forest, on the left.

Their website has lots of photos of braids that they have done, including some for men:

You'll have to post some pictures when you decide what to do!

FWIW for next season ... I get my hair braided each Saturday morning by Gayle at Twisted Sisters before performance company's morning meeting. It lasts all weekend, even through fighting each day, and it holds up my giant mantilla comb - so you know it's hella durable.

Two thumbs up. Juana sez check it out.

I went to the hair braider by the Globe.

Two braids with leather and large feathers on the outside edges and two with her Fairy Tails with beads, skulls, and feathers along with my leather straps on the two inner sides.

Wish someone had taken some pictures of the hair during the weekend, as my co-workers would be deeply freaked. Teach got a great shot of me from the front.

Only complaint is that when trying to sleep, felt like hair on back of head was being pulled up to my ears, but otherwise felt kind of kinky. (hey, I'm an old phart).

Cost was $32, but think it was worth it. (I paid her $40 since she had to put up with me).

Sounds like it was a job well done.  Too bad no pics though.

Great job done there I think

*I am pretty sure there would be rum involved in betting mine to look like that though...*
