I'm "the" IT guy for our local 200 bed hospital/nursing home. 300 workstations, 27 servers, 17 switches and me to design and manage the infrastructure. There are a total of five people in our department my boss, myself and three data entry "operators" that also do instructed maintenance on systems. I'm the only network person.

***EDIT***
I forgot to mention that my lovely wife and I also have a jewelry and leather store (featuring her wonderful creations). We are also opening a coffee shop with light food service and I have a small web hosting company.

The websites are www.ladyserenas.us, www.queencitycoffee.us and www.rangehosting.us respectively. The coffee shop isn't open yet so the web store doesn't have any products for sale yet.

Presently I'm working at Whole Foods, as Customer Service Clerk, hoping to work that up to their "Food Concierge/Personal Shopper" position when they decide to open that possibility up at this new store in Nashville.  I've been most kinds of telephone operator, including a five year stint as a 911 Supervisor, worked for the welfare office in Oregon, did a stint with FEMA in 1982 (when they still were a decent organization) and was a docent for a redwoods forest in California.  I've enjoyed volunteering as a dog walker for a humane society and in my son's various schools over the last 15 years.  I've mostly have worked in the entertainment industry, as a rare records store buyer/clerk and managed many musical acts in my time, including owning my own indie label.  I'm proudest of having been Vice President from the startup phase to the eventual rampant success of the second largest entertainer's tour coach company in the US.

Ok, So I have nothing all that great like most of the people here but I hope to be soon.

At this time I am a Librarian for my community library as well as an Independent Mary Kay Beauty Consultant (not active at this time) and a part time model.

I am going to school for Fine Arts and trying to Major in Interior Design but I also want to be a photographer, animator, computer graphics designer, multi media, interactive media, painter, jewelry maker, fashion designer, sculptor, model, actress, singer, dancer, pilot, astronomer, archeologist, geologist, crafter, skydiver instructor, scuba diver, and entrepreneur.

(I have HUGE goals for myself and I think I am going to remain in school for the duration of my life trying to become everything I want to become. I LOVE learning.)

I am a mother, a bartender at a little neighborhood bar, and a rope artist- in that order. I look forward to getting back out of the bar business as soon as possible, hopefully to pursue a more thought provoking job of some kind.

(yes, I know "rope artist" is vague-- I will happily link my art site to anyone who's truly interested {send me a message}, but for the most part it means I make things that involve pretty knots and I occasionally tie some of those pretty knots onto folks for the purpose of costume, garb, photography, or random silliness)

I'm unofficially unemployed at the moment. Technically, I'm an automotive mechanic, but have been put on 'indeffinite on-call status' due to the tanking economy, and bosses who aren't quite keeping up with the learning curve of running a shop.

So now I'm a SAHD, or stay at home dad, taking care of my 16 month old daughter.

Looking for basic crap job, part time, to keep up with a car paymnt, and get my rear-end back to school to get a real job I might actually enjoy.

That's one of those interesting things, work. To say it simply, I work in education in computers and in instruction. I do enough of it that I can honestly call myself a diver.

However, the description of "law enforcement researcher" is more accurate to what I do, the level of knowledge I possess, the tasks I am given ............... it's just one of those things "out there" that though more complete, is probably more mysterious.

At home!  Most days I commute all of 15 feet from bed to sewing machine...   :P

Sometimes I get to take a herd of machines into school and play with the kids, which is exhausting but fun.

I've pissed, bitched, moaned and complained about the place I work...but this is a peek at what a lot of people working long hours can produce....after 3 years of being closed, the Cleveland Museum of Art is partially re-opening their newly renovated galleries!

Only 5 more years of construction... :-\
