I am useless at getting things to show on the computer, so if it doesn't work, I went to red velvet fabric and found it there.
Lady Kathleen of Olmsted is going to make me an Irish dress. For the forepart, I plan to order a yard of Ancient Buchanan tartan from the Scottish Lion. This is the company that made Lord Stephen's "good" kilt. The one he wears to church and important occasions, not one that he wears for faire. It was so expensive, I'd kill him if he ruined it. Anyway, I wanted something to wear that matched this tartan, for when we go out or when our church has its St. Andrew's Day or Tartan Day celebrations.
Lady Kathleen looked at the material and said go for it. So I bid and won! I'm so excited! I have a feeling that the Irish dress will probably make it to faire next summer, though with a different forepart.
The color is gorgeous! I can't wait to see your new dress :)
Score!
Whoo hoo for shopping victoriously!!
It is a stunning fabric.
Congrats on your purchase, can't wait to see the finished gown!

Kate, I can hem and sew on a button. That's about it. Come from a non-sewing family. Lady Kathleen of Olmsted will make me an Irish dress with about 5 yards of it. The other 4 yards, well, it may end up being another doublet for Steve, maybe not, it will be down the road a while, and one day I hope to look at it and know instantly what it will become!
That sounds yummy.
Can we get progress pix as the project unfolds?
Huzzah Lady Renee! I can't wait to see how everything turns out.
:)
*Droooool* That color is fabulous. I love cotton velveteen. So nummy. So JEALOUS!
The Count and Countess of Olmsted will take their carriage to Galena at the end of January, and the velveteen will be returning home with them, so shortly afterwards, the Irish dress should be ready to photograph!
Will take pictures once I get it back. I laid both Steve's good kilt (Ancient Buchanan tartan) and his faire kilt (Modern Bchanan tartan) next to the red, and they both look great. I'm so excited! ;D
I am so very envious!
NOT going green here. Emerald's are pink, aren't they? (Looks hopefully in mirror... )
No, really, it sounds fantastic. Can't hardly wait for pix.
So, you Will be wearing to Bristol this year, Won't You!
Hope to see you in a few weeks at MidWinter, I know it's Saturday, but you should try to come anyway, even if it's after dinner.

Boo hoo. It's on a Saturday, and the restaurant is open, so can't make it, as Steve has to work, and I don't feel comfortable driving 3 hours there alone (think of driving around a county that has more cows than people, that's where I drive), especially if the weather is bad. But yes, I do hope to wear it to Bristol. Can't wait till July 12th, first day we can go, plus Goody will be there, too!
