This summer and fall, life absolutely hammered me and one of the many things that didn't go as planned was my sewing. I just didn't. I got nothing sewn for fair, and after about the middle of September just sort of gave up entirely.
Well, things have started to settle down now, and last night I dragged out the machine, and today I made my godson an appliqued wallhanging out of a piece I cross-stitched for him more than two years ago! (Yes, timing is not among my virtues, I'm afraid.)
I know it's not costuming, but I knew you'd all know how liberating it is to finally crawl out of an awful slump....
Except those of you who never slump, that is. ;)
Huzzah for Gem!
*says MG who's currently "slumping* :-\
Huzzah!!!!!!!!! ;D
Yay Gem! 8)
Take that slump breaker & run w/it! Huzzah!
I hear ya on the slumping thing. Feels good to get back to it, doesn't it?
I've been doing just the opposite. I can't focus on more than one creative project at a time and, since I have been sewing, my scrapbooking has suffered. I finally got back in the scrapping groove this past weekend and it felt good!
Congrats, Gem! It feels so good, to sew that first thing after a long absence from the needle and thread. I hope you'll keep making new nice garbs for us to drool over!
Right now I'm careering madly towards the end of another project! This one designed for an Audrey Hepburn moment, so while garb of a sort, not the right era... But gorgeous fabrics!
Finished not making another Regency hat yesterday (Sunday), and gown... Got some Seriously Large floor cushions to do before Christmas, and a week in school making crimbo stockings with the kids.
Gem, I've been in sewing slumps and it's horrid. Sometimes when I need to get out of one I'll make a crimbo stocking, a peg bag, or something... Just something small and easy to get me back in the groove...
Good for you Gem!
I tried getting back into the sewing groove yesterday... Only to find out that I didn't have what I needed to get past washing and ironing the fabric. <sigh>
But you go girl!!
