Title: The Season in Review
Post by: eloquentXI on November 30, 2008, 05:26:48 PM
Okay, so I know a lot of people are on their way home by now or will be in a couple hours, I know that I would be, but I just wanted to create a thread to talk about everything that we all enjoyed from this season, including any bloopers and memorable moments. Even with noticeable changes to camping and other things, it seemed like a really awesome season and I was only able to make it down three times. I'm already going through post-season blues.

For my first time camping and really, my first time as a knowledgeable playtron going to TRF, I really fell in love with the place and the people. It's not home, but it's a different kind of magic.

Camping with the clan turned out to be really awesome, thanks so much for taking care of me every weekend I was there!  :-*

What did you enjoy the most about this season? Favorite memories, things to look forward to next year?

There are several things I loved about this season...

Seeing all of you again and meeting new people. Being able to camp once again with my extended family and getting our money's worth out of our new jumping jack trailer!!

This last weekend, Thanksgiving, the great food and lots of ppl (although I got NO sleep this weekend)!!

And being able to once again be a part of Randolph's chain maille show! That's always a lot of fun! And Randolph actually got me on stage before todays' last show and told the crowd I've been the doing his show longer than anyone else!! Woo hoo!

Next season a whole long loooong year away lol....I am pretty much looking foward to the same thing...camping, great friends, and pulling out my garb once again!

That's awesome about Lord Randolph. You know I realized that I have yet to actually meet you!  :o Probably because I didn't see a photo of you first to be able to place a name to the face.
I'm on a mission to meet several of the RFers next season that I did not have a chance to this season.

Don't feel bad El... apparently I marched in parade right behind her and the other girls but never formally met her.

This really was a great season at TRF.  First, Lady Kitara joined me on the board.  Since I'm a fairly introverted person I'm not likely to walk into a crowd and introduce myself.  Thats why I have a wife (o:

Second, our daughter is now 2 years old and she had a blast this year at faire.  This year she was able to run around and play with the faeries.  It was fun to watch and we took tons of pictures.

Third, our own little clan is coming together and we are getting ourselves organized in such a way that camping together is fun instead of a chore. Not that it wasn't fun before, but with everyone pitching in we can be assured that everyone is having fun and no one is being left out or over worked.

Fourth, it was great to be able to put some faces with the digital text.  I met a lot more RF'ers this year.  It was great to meet you all and as Eloquent said, I hope to be able to meet many more next year.

Lady Kitara and I plan to do Scarby at some point next year.  We'll keep our ear to the Scarby boards and with any luck we'll be able to meet up with some RF'ers up that away.

I was really happy to meet a lot of you guys this season.  It's great to put actual people to r/f names.  You guys are so welcoming!

I've got to smile now, everytime I see you now.  You were awesome as Jingles.  I took some pictures of you but I haven't had a chance to go through any of them yet.  Its on my to do list today.  Along with laundry and dishes.

Well, this season was hectic and painful, but it made my heart swell to see our clan grow as much as it did. Love you guys, and can't wait to see how to top next season!

It was great to see old friends and greet new ones for the first time.  The TRF cast outdid themselves again with superb performances by veteran, as well as new members.  The unofficial pub sings were great again this year.  What beautiful weather ... surely one reason we had record breaking attendance ... almost 420,000!  Huzzah

I for one had a great time this year, especially Sunday.  Our little clan goes once a year usually last weekend.  Got to catch a few shows this year Tattanic (which is always good) Iris and Rose, last show on Saturday of Christoph (boy did he insult the hell out of this poor lady) and a couple more.  But for me personally the real find of this years faire was the Robin Hood Troupe.  Caught there act Saturday morning out of no where and it was really good.  The only problem was I did not know when they were playing again.  They were just over the bridge going into Sherwood they weren't on stage.  i also stumbled on them Sunday afternoon and they had a different skit which was also good.  This Troupe should get some kind company performance award.  They were the most original in my opinion that i saw.

The camping was great compared to last years last weekend.  Our nebores were great and had a ball. One couple drove all the way from Lubbock.  This for me is also one of the highlights of faire.  We have never had a bad experience (excluding that time that I got completely smashed at the bon fire and got lost and could not find my tent) with fellow campers everybody is really friendly and alot of fun to be with. I hope next year to drop by clan McLotofus.  All in all had a great time.

I was just happy that was able to attend faire once this year.  Although next year I need to remember the meet and greet while at faire instead of on the drive home from faire.  I thought I recognized a couple of faces while walking around, but couldnt remeber where from.

I enjoyed watching Texas Brass and Cantiga while it was cold and wet......amidst a sea of purple pouring out the front gates.

Thanks for the kind words, Sir Smithwick, about the RH troupe!  Wish you could have caught their end of the day show (around 3:30 in Sherwood).  It was spectacular this year if I do say so myself!  (Said as Robin Hood's in-sooth wife)

Having the leisure to explore the faire this year for the first time in 10 years (my sister sold her booth at the end of season last year), it was wonderful to visit with friends, old and new and see the faire from a whole different perspective.

While I did spend a lot of time in Sherwood,  ;), the constant that fills my mind days later is the music.  The rhythm that is TRF.  Powerful, beautiful and haunting.  It will be with me until the next season begins!

I had a great time on both trips this year.  Friday felt a little strange going without wings for the first time in 7 years and being without my hubby (first time in 15 years!).  It was exciting being with my nieces, one of which has never been and the other hasn't been in 3 years.  I can be a bit elusive even with my wings but was tickled to get to meet so many new people and run into some old friends.

And watching the total confusion on Var's face was priceless! ;) ;D

I'm ready for yet another difficult year to be over and start anew!  Third time is the charm right???

Why does TRF time just fly by? My favorite time is spent with all my R/F friends! The meet and greets! The weather spells came out pretty good this year. You need a bit of rain and cold to fully appreciate the sunny perfect days and we had many of those!
Music and playing with the cast and Singing- just a bit, at the Prince of Wales and the Unofficial pirate pub sing, the morning dance. walking the lanes early in the AM when all is new and bright, Tartanic at 9:30!  Bagpipes for breakfast! The fireworks!   Ahhh! So many memories and so much magick this year!
Big Hugs to Cat and her family for letting me stay with them! Tis only a week and I miss TRF already.
