So this entire TRF season has been awesome as far as weather is concerned. This final weekend, I believe everyone (including the cold weather loving yankees *said with a big smile*) will agree, was so much better than last year.
BUT - Like last year, our camp took some damage thanks to those pesky winds that came in. We had two tents that lost a pole (broken) each. Both arbors (Texsport) broke a pole. However, out of 7 tents and two arbors, that is not bad.
How did everyone else fare?
Well, I had a collapsed tent around 6th weekend, which fell under the weight of a huge storm that hit Todd Mission during that week. My tent was set up in participants, and left there just like all the others. But alas, it was not meant to hold up. All it took to temp repair it until I could order the new hubs was some twine and duct tape. But, it's in perfect condition now, so YAY!!!
Oh, and my boots blew out. They were talking to me as I left the TRF grounds for the last time this weekend...
somewher between highland fling and this past weekend i would up with a slightly bent tent pole, but other than that...unscaved!
I lost both mine and Sin's ezups, plus breaking two tent poles in the same weekend. 1 ezup and tent poles have been replaced. I also seem to have misplaced a air bed air pump, but that's not a huge problem.
One bent tent pole in the high winds Friday of Highland fling weekend, repaired using the handlyman's secert weapon. Lost a tarp the same weekend but they are desposable anyway.
One stolen radar detector from leaving the truck unlocked one night. Otherwise unscathed.
My boots died somewhat painfully 2nd weekend but I was able to score a perfectly acceptable pair of cheap footwear so it's all good. Now I'll have time to save for the Native Earth's I've been eyeing.
Coleman hot water on demand
Not exactly broken... i think...not sure what the deal is on that thing
It was a great system for 2 years and the second half of this year has been nothing but trouble on it... sending it in for repairs
*several rum bottles seem to have leaked also... at least they are empty now so... dunno*

Teach we had issues with ours and condensation dropping onto the burner below the water box. After a certain temp the condensation is awful and puts out he flame when it drips on it.
We have to modify our shower we had made to hang off the back of the jumping jack trailer...cold canvas on naked skin isn't fun! When the wind picked up, it was blowing the shower canvas really bad, so we have to find a way to make it more sturdy in windy weather.
Other than that, we had no mishaps with our new tent. It was such a nice tent to sleep in!

That was the original problem. Now it wont even try to light for more than a second regardless of temp or humidity. I also realized that I had a lot less water pressure than Lady Ann and Tim's and think that mine just may be a lemon.
I am going to try sending it off to Coleman to have it fixed and see how that works.
*wonder if I should have tried pumping rum through it...*
... I just LOOOVE having my home next door to Faire... ;D
Lost not one but TWO bodhran beaters, both good ones too!
One of them I'd played for ten years.(sniff, sniff)
You just know bad things are gonna happen when you play tunes with the sand painting fairies ;D
The fest giveth and the fest taketh away
Blessed be the name of the fest.

yeah, it's nice to live close by, but we still camp out :) we just dash home in the mornin' to take nice looonnnng hot showers :)
next year tho, we plan to have a camper so we won't have to go anywhere.
Strawberry Loki supply went the way of the dodo of the course of the faire, as did my first pair of boots.
Packing up on Sunday we had a fun time chasing down a runaway shower enclosure...
I only had problems with 6 leaky 1/2 gallon rum bottles myself.
Lord Paul, I'm sorry to hear of your loss, as I have enjoyed listening to you play that said instument for most of if not all of those years.
After checking all of my stuff the only thing that was Kaput was the globe on my coleman lantern, easy fix for the fun I had!!
I blew out an air mattress easy replacement. My tent tried to die in the rain last Saturday but I fixed it up with duct tape and bublegum lol. Actually it was already held together by that lol.
Its a good tent though just need to replace a few poles. IT got damaged at Excal by the previous owner. I did have to modify the rain fly so it would quit making nice rain holders destined to burst or collapse the tent. I'm glad I have good engineering skills. I'm going to sew some button whole like areas so i can continue tying it down the same way to avoid that problem.
Not bad for 4 weekends.
Well, I had a candle lantern tip over and the glass got broke, and my crock jug of shine, must have sprang a leak because it was emty when I came home. Other than that I came home with more then I went down there with.
Blah - I never want to come home with more than I left with. I did find as I was unpacking my trunk that a glass pane on one of my oil lanterns broke. Not sure if I can get that replaced or not.
The dryer mangled one of my House of Dra shirts. >:( Oh well, that just fits in with my character, and gives me an excuse to buy another. ;)
My brass boot bells from Voyagers Dream kept sawing through their rope. I finally got tired of tying knots and put the bells on a piece of brass chain. We'll see how that holds up.
As for the camping gear, everything held up incredibly well this year. Of course, the tent and the cooler were purchased new for the season, but I don't see any reason why they won't make it through next season as well.
Randal
Oh, I seem to be missing a Maglight as well.

I just got my first Dra shirt this last weekend. I put it in the wash and fully planned to hang dry it. But for some reason I didn't see it as I was putting the clothes into the dryer. Fortunately it survived but I was so mad at myself for forgetting that it was in there.
Do not include Muffin and me in those cold lovin' yankees, we do not like the cold.
We survived closing weekend without breaking anything. Just a few small leaks in loki bottles... :o ;)
I lost my liver over Highland Weekend. It's been spotted a few times around Texas and Lousianna. I had a report it was hitch-hiking on I-10 going towards LARenFest where I ambushed it last Friday and beat it down for being ill-mannered. Sometime in the night it made it's escape while my gypsy had my mind occupied with other thoughts, that resulted in a bent pole as well. Another report had it hanging out in a temple with a leather bound wench her bird but that is very unlike him as he prefers the cats. I will soon be asking St. Nicholas for a more behaved liver and Amnesia from the nights of abuse.
If you see my liver, it's slightly odd shaped with a Brigadoon foot print on it, it has answered to the names Pinko, Grit, old Yeller and Steve. Be careful when handling it directly as it has been known to corrupt others of it's kind. I offer no reward and I don't want him back but if you see him, tell him I said hello.
I managed to get through the whole TRF season with only one smashed taillight on the MeowMobile! Fixed now. I still need a designated driver. Not great at backing up. The post was not hurt at all. My Body shop invited me to Thanksgiving dinner again!
I think I spotted your liver- brother Octavius! I waved as it went by!

Was that your liver I saw going back to the shotzie game over and over again? Or was it the liver of one of the other brothers?
What are you complaining about? That little campground at LARF destroyed more bottles from the McLotofus bar than TRF came close to managing in a single weekend! I have to completely restock on Cider, Kajimir, 43, Apfelkorn, Pyrate and Brandied Apple Cider. The Celtic Crossing was severly injured as well..... :o

I had heard that my liver was shaking up with one of the limey birds and was headed south for the winter.
Yes Zaubon, I don't think I ever remember drinking so much out of so many bottles so quickly. My thought was if someone was sick, the strength of the drinks would kill anything I might catch. Then after each drink I thought well, I need to drink the last drink away. After 7 bottles passed, after God only knows how many shots in 10 minutes; then what was poured in my mug(thank you St. Arnulf for keeping my mug wet all weekend) I felt I had honored your gifts appropriately. So to you sir, thank you for your hospitality. We will speak well of you for years to come.
