I'm pretty new to the site, and to faire itself. but am a born rennie. I just got back from bootcamp and AIT for the National Guard and was wondering if there were many other rennies that do or have served in the armed forces. it would be great to meet others that share more than just being a lover of faire.
I'm sure there are, It may help if you rename your topic, to have something in the title related to military rennies! Just trying to help! :)
I think it's possible that Lord Jarhead may have had a slight amount of military experience.
Former Navy, but not much to talk about.
Most of my family has served at one point or another...Grampa was island hopping in the Pacific(literally next to Iwo Jima), and finally blinded in Korea. Proud Marine he was, to say the least. Dad was a reserve Marine. Two aunts and their husbands served. One Navy sister, and my brother just retired 3 years ago from 22 years of submarine duty in the Navy.
Stand strong, and be proud!!! Duty, Country, Honor!!!
I'm just proud to have served, and proud you have/are as well.
HUZZAH to all that protect this great country!!!
I served, but for a shorter period than I wanted :( Am big into faires and have started a trend with faires with friends and family :) Every year we bring someone new to faire.
My husband has also served, who also loves faire. My Mom, former Air Force, loves faire. My sis, is currently Active Duty Army and a Faire lover. She is trying to time her leave with TRF this coming year. My entire family is laced with military. I can trace it back to the Civil War, further if I wasnt so lazy ;D. I have few members in my family that havent served, than I do those who have served. Please let me know if you need anything. My family and I are still HUGE military supporters.
Former Air Force here. Desert Storm Veteran ;)
Retired Navy, '69-'89. Submarines.
When the Soviet Union heard that I had retired in '89, they collapsed a month later and the Cold War was over.
Bull Nuke
EMCS(SS) USN(Ret)
4 years in Uncle Sam's Misguided Children's branch of service during '81 - '85..."peacetime"...if such a thing exists...
enough to know that "Military Intelligence" is the grandest oxymoron of 'em all...
8 years regular Army and 13 years Guard , with Two over sea deployments and one deployment state side for hurricane Katrina. I had a heat stroke while training up for deployment to Iraq, so I went on and retired in 07. And yes if I was 18 or 19 I would do it all again, but I would not pick 95b as an MOS.
Try 95BL3. Tower Rat is soooo much fun.
I do believe that Var Greyshadow is a vet if not still serving. As for myself, I finished my tour with Uncle Sam's Motorcycle Club in 1988.
I know that Night Wolf served in the Marines.
I recently separated from teh ir force, and the Wife is still in.
One of the more impressive things to see/experience at faire is the memorial day parade at Scarborough faire, where any vet is encouraged to march in the parade.....its a very large parade that day.
Captain Liam of The Pirate's Cove was a Hull Maintenance Technician on board the USS Kittyhawk for his duty during Gulf War I. We always do a very special thank you during Veteran's Day and we offer discounts to anyone that served. Heck...I wouldn't be on this planet if my mom hadn't met my father, who was serving in the Air Force.
thank you everyone that replied.
I love serving my country. I graduated AIT on the 26th of Nov. as a 68W.
Combat Medic. I think it is one of the most rewarding decisions I have made with my life.
thank you all for your courage and dedication to this great nation.

A thanx to you as well. It takes courage to join up as a combat medic in my opinion.

I was an HT in the Navy as well, and similar to LadyShadow, my service was not as long as I had liked.
