Title: Looking for a renfaire music website...Help?
Post by: Kahlan Rose on January 04, 2009, 02:07:24 PM
Hi I used this website a long time ago to learn a bunch of faire songs and I'm having trouble locating it. It has many recorded songs that you can listen to on your computer as well as the lyrics. Many songs are modern songs written for faire and some are actual historic songs. Does any one know what I'm talking about?

Thanks for the help.

Lyss

Here ya go! These websites are all pretty comprehensive (and yet each have such a variety of songs- only a few overlaps! HUZZAH!) and SUCH excellent resources.

http://www.chivalry.com/cantaria/lists/alpha.html -Cantaria folk music database, specializing in Renfaire-appropriate stuff. Almost all the songs have free streaming recordings and midis. :)

http://thebards.net/music/ -The Brodignagian Bards' website. Very very good list of standby Celtic tunes: drinking songs, ballads, and a couple fun novelties. Each song has a streaming recording of the Bards' performance of it.

http://royalchessmen.com/fight/index.php?option=com_content&task=category&sectionid=6&id=15&Itemid=31 -An excellent database for very good, less-common songs and lyrics, but unfortunately no tunes.

http://www.contemplator.com/folk.html -Period songs sorted by category (soldiering, lost loves, etc). Most music can be found with the aid of google. :)
