Travian. One account per server, per email account.
Server 5 just restarted. Game lasts @ 13 months. Free. Real time based. Construction, combat. Nothing twitchy. If you get to population 75, I get a little in game hookup. Takes very little to get to 75.

I registered last night, and read a bit of the manual, but then I realized how late it was and decided to save it for when I was feeling better and more rested, so I could appreciate it more...
Looks like lots of fun, though! It really does remind me of Settlers of Catan a bit, just a little more fleshed out...
Maybe I'll be able to play for a while tonight!
Once you start, it's going. You are collecting resources when you aren't logged on and so is everyone else. Set it and forget it after a bit. Minutes for contruction early on then hours, then multiple hours, then days, I am told.
Wow... you mean I can play even when I'm not playing??? Sounds like my kind of game! LOL :D
OMG! Another Travian addict....lol. Sir Morgan and I have been playing it for about a year now. It is very addictive... especially when you start using gold.
And a budding one in me, I think! I've already used a bit of gold to buy more resource production, and I'm waiting on my army...
I'm building on my village ... slow and steady.
Grov... set and forget... no not really. This is a war game and it can be rather harsh at times. Setting and forgetting is a great way to become what is known as a farm. Once word gets out that you are a farm you will be raided unmercilessly. I've been playing this game since last year. I'm currently playing on server 5 and server 7. Server 7 started back in July or August and I've been there since the beginning.
It is an addicting game and lots of fun. Just be prepared to defend you villages and go out on raids.
Two helpful things in the game: crannies.... several of them.... and gold.
If anyone is need of some helpful ideas let me know. I'd be happy to help out a fellow rennie.
More than one Cranny? Hadn't thought of that.
What I mean about set and forget is that you don't have to watch it 24/7. For some reason my laptop doesn't allow me access to the login screen, so unless I can get a safe peek from a customers comp or swing by the office, I can only guide my growth in the mornings and evenings. Gives me about 12 hours during the day that I just collect resources.
Yep more than one cranny. Once the first gets to level 10 you can build more than one.
Seems to take forever to build enough to actually get an army! I still have several hours to go, but I'm up to a population of 19... and my resource production is growing.
So what tribe did you join? I'm a gaul. I felt like they were the closest to the celts.
3rd village on 3rd server, first Gaul. Started Roman, then Tueton.
Roman
Got another, more travian experienced, friend helping guide my village. She's got me out raiding with only a few troops already. Picked up a hundred or so resources so far and not lost a single guy. Anyone else getting out there?
Maybe I should check if my village still exists. Last time I was there was a week ago. :o
uh, yea. That might be a good idea, haha.
LOL ... that is the reason I cannot commit to games on line. I have no time to play them.

No... and I'm a bit frustrated! I'm being farmed by more than one powerful alliance, and they keep hitting me just before I get enough resources built up to upgrade anything at all!!! I'm probably going to delete and start over on another server... and immediately start building up crannies, regardless of what the guide tells me to do! Oh well... play and learn! LOL
Luci, you're village is probably nothing more than a farm by now, also, unfortunately! You can't leave it, or it will be raided constantly...
Build some crannies to hide your stuff. Once the don't get anything a couple times, they stop.
Believe me, I would if they ever let me build up enough resources! I've got a level 4 cranny, and it still isn't enough to stop them!
get your cranny capacity over your holding capacity and they won't get any/much. Or you could pop out a troop and let him kill one of theirs when they come around. I doubt there are any really huge armies yet.
can't train any of those, either... never enough resources to train more than one legionnaire, and against 9-10 units he doesn't even stand a chance. I've lost 6 already, one at a time...
I just wanna be a Gaul... LOL
Buckle down as best you can. Feel free to start another but they are likely to be worse. You are seeing 9-10. I saw 231 on sever 6. And I am still there building.
I'll stick with it, and even if I end up having to delete, I'll still start over again! I'll at least stay with this village until I get up to a pop. of 75, though... I'm at 42, now.
WOOHOO!!! Managed to upgrade cranny to level 4 and in three attacks since 6pm they got NOTHIN'!!!!!!! Of course they killed my only legionnaire... again... but still, they got $#!+ for their troubles!!! So I guess I'll just continue to upgrade the cranny, until I can afford more than one unit at a time...
Oh, I saw the attacks coming, and since I didn't have enough resources to upgrade again, I built a granary to spend down so I didn't have much, just in case... LOL Not gonna roll over for it anymore!!!
I've been raiding for the past few days with 12 phalanx. I did lose a few due to being raided myself.... I forgot to send them out for the night on a 4 hour raid. I did end up with enough resources to train a few more and then i started the raiding.
Bravo, Rani. I'm glad to hear that they got nothing. Like Grov said if they get zip zilch nada they generally back off. Occasionally you may get scouted or raided just to see if you are still paying attention.
Bit of advice to everyone on the game... when you are able to train scouts, pathfinders, or equites legatis do so. This will allow you to see if someone is scouting your village. Your tribe's scout will stop the other scout from reporting back... just remember that it is on a 1:1 basis. If they send 5 scouts and you only have 2 they will have 3 reporting back. This applies for each of your villages that you have in the future.
yay travian, the boyfriend and i were playing for a while, got to be too much to keep up with (wars and stuff) my advice- get a sitter, a good trustworthy sitter.
Not up on the lingo really, but the ex that turned me onto the game is also making decisions in this server 5 village. I found this out when I noticed that I had spend gold on a bunch of things.
I said "You spending my gold?"
She said, "Yes, I bought it for you, so I can spend it for you."
I said, "Yes, maam. Make good choices."
Guess she could be considered a sitter?
ummm... do you have her set up as your sitter or is she logging into your account on her own (with your password)? if she is logging into your account is it from your computer or a different one? and does she have her own account? reason i ask is because if she has her own account but also logs into your account from a different computer (meaning her own computer) she and/or you could possibly banned due to a rule violation. i know because it happened to me recently on s7. you would have to set her up as your sitter or as a same computer user. you will find this listed in your travian profile and under the heading "account".
So, I've finally started to figure out a few things... like spending down resources when I see an attack coming, no matter what I have to spend it on, I just get what I can afford since I have no defenses at the moment. I still can't get my grain production up to the same level as the other resources, and I've already upgraded all my fields to 2's.
Today I upgraded my granary to a 2 just because an attack was coming and I couldn't afford anything else, and I didn't even discover I could afford that until 2 minutes before the attack hit!!! LOL
i try to get my wheat/grain up at least 1 level higher than the other resources as it seems to taker forever for it build up. the other reason is because it goes down every time you build/upgrade anything.
All my fields are higher than everything else I have... and it still is always at least 5-6 times lower than any other resource... It also goes down to feel the villagers...
Thanks for the heads up
travian actually has a sitter function, in your settings there is a place where you add your sitter's name, that person logs in by typing your name in and their own password. A person on the same computer as you can not be your sitter, but I believe that peope under the same IP can (i'm NOT sure, so check first, I haven't played since November)
What about when I log in at different computers?
Here is a rule clarification that was posted when you log in to travian:
The new in-game rule clarifications and changes have now been published. They will go into effect in about 5 days, on 11-Feb-09 (Wednesday) at 3:01am EST. Note that the clarifications are simply adding to the current rules to make more clear what is already being enforced so that everyone knows and understands the rules better. The only actual change is with friendly conquering, and since it will be system enforced now, there is nothing to "get used to" as those system rules have been there since day 1. Please see below a brief description of the clarifications / changes.

Clarifications:
1. Same computer usage - has been clarified to mean same internet connection, so if you regularly play from the same internet connection as another player you need to list each other as same computer usage. This does not apply to public places like libraries, schools, coffee shops, etc, as you would not reasonably know everyone who played there.
There is more to the clarified rules but this one pertains to sitters and same computer useage.
SO I only have to worry if someone is running their village from my same computer. Since I use up to a dozen different comps throughout the day to check on mine, that would be quite impossible to register and track.
Well, I'm still surviving, I guess... population of 52, cranny level 7 which keeps raiders from getting much as long as I spend down in the face of an attack, which also means I have an awesome infrastructure, but little else. I've managed to survive 10-15 attacks a day losing very little to no resources this way, without even a single unit of legionnaires, for a week, now... LOL I just added a marketplace, and I'm thinking of becoming a trader, since I'm having no luck building an army so far...
Next game will be much different, I can already tell... 8)
