It's cold, gray, and the local faire doesn't open for months and you need a fix! How about some great music, beer, food, bagpipes, fiddles, dancing, and a great family atmosphere.
Hey time to put on the kilt and head to Rural Hill for the Loch Norman Highland Games.
April 17, 18, & 19, 2009
Clan M'Crack will be in the house on Saturday, April 18th. If you don't see the saffron kilts near rhe beer vendors then check out the Clan McBubba tent.

I really wish the family gathering at GARF were not planned for the same weekend. ;D
I agree, but for some reason the Georgia people were reluctant to postpone their faire that weekend. ;D
I wanna go to BOTH!!! ponders cloning herself... hmmmm...
Oh Lord! We need to put an end to cloning right now, I'm not sure the world is ready for two of her! ;D
LOL!!! That's great although I thynk myne Pyrate would disagree with ya! He'd take one 'ome wit him he would. :D
Myself and Pin'n plan on going to The Highland Games, and yea the saffron kilts be many and the lasses too.
This is definitely worth attending...
Ewan and I will be there also.... bring on the kilts and logs......with sweet bagpipe music filling the air!
Thats great!
I know Jim (High'n) and Pam (Pretty'n) will be there both days. As it stands now Mary Lou (Heal'n) and I should be there both days as well. The kids are another matter depending upon work and sports schedules.
M'Crack gentlemen, if possible, should be kilted. Ladies as always will do as they please.
What would you like for us to wear??

Well, if "I" were in charge of it...
I think I heard a Mouse squeaking somewhere didn't you
*perks ears up* Mouse? Pounce?
While normally...no hold that thought...there are very few things normal when the Clan M'Crack is involved.
The gentlemen of the clan normally wear kilts and are in the minority. The Loch Norman Games are one of those rare places where no one blinks at a guy in a kilt. For once the kilts are in the majority. Except our saffron kilts stand out amongst all the Scots! So for the fellas, of course its kilt time.
Now some ladies at the games do wear historical garb, some do don the clan colors in various ways, but most wear whatever is comfortable. Its not a renn faire although you will see renn garb. Check the weather and see what is appropriate. You'll find a M'Crack shirt and a pair of jeans will work fine.

Ohh Pussy'n, I didn't know you cared!
Just heard from a friend in Maryland who may be visiting Charlotte for the games! Loch Norman will never be the same.
It is all fun and games until those stinking MD M'Cracks come and ruin everything!
Forward .... march!
... hide the sheep!
The sheep and the women are hidden, I would suggest you stay away from the cows.
When will it be safe to come out of hiding??? ::)
With Scotsman its hard to say.
Hope Himself is doing better and that the doctors have him on the mend.
yes he is on the mead
I take that to mean that the mead is helping the mending! Hey whatever works!
Well we are have a few people coming, started a list on the first page just to keep track. We're talking Saturday and then perhaps heading out to dinner afterwards that night. We'll settle for more details as the date gets a bit closer.
Al and I will be there! And just wondering - will there be beer or is it a dry event?
I wish I could be there but alas, no job equals no funds for fun.....

The games have a beer booth selling products by the company that does the Carolina Blondes.

You will be missed. Hope to see you at CRF in the fall.
Hibernian Dear, as I've yet to be cloned my presence shall be at Georgia this same weekend... *sigh* all in a day's adventure! ::)
I'd tell you to have a good time, but that would be like telling a rose to be beautiful.
We'll miss you at Loch Norman, looking for pictures or at least a drink by drink report from GARF!
The Clan M'Crack HQ will be with our friends at the Clan McBubba tent. Its a Scottish festival so we'll probably be the only ones in saffron kilts, so if you see one just follow it to the beer and you'll find us. We have two van loads from the Triangle and a good core group from Charlotte so we won't be hard to find.
Saturday evening we are cooking up dinner off site with both Clans (M'Crack and McBubba) in attendance so if your are interested please let me know so we can include you in the head count.
Looking forward to it!
Leaves'n, Yanke'n and I have decided that GA is too far to go this weekend so we are going to join you at the Loch Norman Highland Games. See you on Saturday.
Ratz'n
Welcome cousins!
Reports for Saturday in Huntersville say "partly cloudy" and a high of 74 degrees!
A wee bit late in responding, but thanks to everyone for making our first trip to Loch Norman such resounding fun! (Huzzah the Tim/Dublin'M'crack!) I think next year I will remember the sunscreen, but all in all it was quite the day.
