Title: new to faire
Post by: renfairenewb on February 15, 2009, 06:09:45 PM
My wife and I are planning to attend a couple of weekends and she saw that the weekend of the 28th/1st it was Wine and Chocolate Festival.  What exactly does that mean?  Is there an event to sign up for or something?

Hi and welcome. :)

The faire has a special events tent for each weekend with something of interest to that particular theme. The Chocolate and Wine event has a spread of all kinds of good things to taste. There will be a bit of a line but I hear it's well worth the short wait. It always looks good when I've passed by. There's no charge for the tasting as far as I know. It's fit for a King or Queen from what I hear as the Royals are know to stop in for a taste themselves.

You're welcome. I hope we have the chance to meet while you're at faire. Be sure to stop in to Things from Rings and let everyone know you're about. :)

Definitely since we missed seeing you at the Gainesville faire. I hope that I will be able to make that weekend point, but I do have a houseful of guests.

Are you guys planning on trying to make this weekend for the opening?

Sorry, we won't be making it for the opening weekend, but will be there the second and third weekends.  I am trying to come up with a newer/different garb for myself and my wife too.  I will be sure to stop by Things from Rings.  If you have shiny jewelry my wife will want to stop and shop.

Make sure that if you are going this weekend, bring 4 canned goods so that you can do the "buy one get one free" deal. Also, I think that they will be doing the blood drive as well for free entry...

I hope to get out and see you both at some point this weekend...

thanks for that bit of info.  We definitely will do so.  I actually bought tickets online, but put them off to use the following weekend when we come up with our sons.  That weekend we won't actually be wearing any garb, but wearing regular street (mundane? is that the term?) clothes.  I don't think they are ready to go with their kooky parents in garb to a faire yet.  But this will be our third faire (second in terms of our version of pseudo-garb).

You will probably find us perusing the tents for jewelry since that's what my wife likes to do.

We had a great time both days at the faire.  It was so cold the second day I was glad we had something different to wear.  Hopefully we can make down again in garb before the faire is over.

New to fair WHATEVER!

You guys are old pros! You both look great!!!!

And for the record, it usually takes people YEARS to get garb, much less 2 outfits ON BACK TO BACK DAYS!!!!!  HUZZAH to you and your most striking Lady!

And it is a testament to the mistreatment I received at the hands of Seamus that I didn't see you both on Saturday. Evil cider, that's all it be!   :P ;D ::)

Well, of course ye must...
for how else can you possibly become part of the insanity we call the local Fairemily?
Don't be shy.
