Title: Queens Tea Saturday
Post by: Squire Mickey on February 20, 2009, 11:41:30 AM
Are any of you good folk (or even Seamus or Lord Jarhead) planning on attending the Queens Tea opening day?

I have never been, and I plan on going this season, but I would like to go when all of you folk are planning on attending, as I KNOW that will be MUCH more fun (and hopefully a tad NAUGHTIER)...

A very good time, but I was waiting for "Musical Men" as I heard that was particularly entertaining...

Something for next time I guess...,

Don't get me wrong here, I love Musical Men, but I think of it as a really special treat Madge offered up for us at tea on a few occassions. As I recall, it's a difficult game to play with a large group in the tented area and in the time constraint given for Tea Time. Tea seemed to me to be a respite with Her Majesty and the chance to hear some enjoyable acts you might have missed in the lanes. Of course there was that one year the Queen offered to teach us a new dance and someone fell flat on her face... :D

The tumbling act was fun to watch, BUT, the L O N G explanation on the facts of 'tea' was pretty lengthy and boring. Yes, I know that it is the 'Queens Tea', but as she puts it, "What happens at Queens Tea, stays in Queens Tea". My question to this is, "what exactly would that be?" LOL!  Just wondering if that could be helped along some how. ? Maybe get the mundanes involved more? I do not have an answer to that. But please, don't get ME wrong, I enjoyed my time there because I was surrounded by friends. To me that is worth every dime.

Aye. Heard that time spent with friends thing.  :)

I posted this thought last night and then gave it a second thought and deleted it, but here goes again...

Mayhaps Madge might whisper in the Queens ear and let us play a game of Musical Men in the lanes one morning at Meet and Greet. Or perhaps she might arrange to let us have a brief dance one day at Tea? We learned a fun little dance in MIRF with Elizabeth. Of course I about took someone out with my swinging chain belt...I'm dangerous apparently.  :D

Hi All!

I LOVE Musical Men, too!  heehee.  But Anna is correct, it is sometimes hard to do at Queen's Tea: time, whether or not there are enough men, etc.  Tea right now is not what I would have it be, and I am in the process of reworking it.  Please try it, I promise a good time.  Maybe "Gelding the Devil", but definitely more interaction.

It seems to me we seem to take over St. Patty's weekend in the Shire, so maybe either then or the last weekend would be a good fit for our fair queen to work Musical Men into her tea. ;)

Fun to participate in, but still a hoot and much safer to watch ;)

Does going to Queens Tea mean having to leave the Pub?  Or is it at least well within refill distance?  Or the third possibility, is it possible to get lost on the way to the pub and wind up at Queens Tea?

I am just trying to find out how there was a picture of Lord Jarhead and Count Adolfo with teacups ????

The pub is directly accross the lane.

As for the tea cups, well...

Now I am not SAYIN' that there was a flask there.
And I not SAYIN' that it was being passed.
But there you have it...

And I'm not admitting to what I was adding to my hot tea ... No, I would never have done that, Your Grace

And, yes, I do love fish with my tea *giggling*

Perhaps a game of "Musical Flask". Pass the flask and when the music stops you get to take a swig!  :D

I can get you to a PUB real fast. As far as a teacup, I admit I had one BEHIND me the whole time as I was paying attention to Her Grace. That is my story and I will stick to it.

Getting good at crossing his fingers

I agree with this statement:
"Now I am not SAYIN' that there was a flask there.
And I not SAYIN' that it was being passed.

LOL! I knew I didn't quite have that right! The thing would never get passed elsewise!   :D

Something to consider...if we *are* planing a Tea Invasion on St. Patty's or last weekend we should let Madge know in advance so they can be prepared. I'd love to attend one of those weekends.

A very loooog shot for being on topic, but a caffeine thought for the day. I was reading Creative Loafing today and came across this in the Freewill Astrology page:

"In his book The Invention of Air, Steven Johnson says that as coffee drinking came into vogue in the 18th century, it became a driving force in the Age of Enlightenment. Prior to that time, alcohol had been the drink of choice -- more so even than water. As the stimulant replaced the intoxicant, the level of discourse rose dramatically. Creative ideas flourished and new discoveries and inventions proliferated."

I figured it applies to tea as well.  :)

Umm.. isn't the MC Invasion next weekend? Shouldn't we start talking again about if we are doing tea thing then? Cuase' I think Lady Anna has a good point of letting the Queen know in advance that we will be invading her tea party.

It seems this thread has stalled out. ;)

Is there anything special that needs to be done to attend "Queens Tea" are there special tickets or registration...limited seating or such....As there will be about 20 M'Cracks at faire and even maybe a few more and with friends and such we could possibly take up 30 to 35 spaces at the tea.   So if it is limited, it may be better a few of us just stay at the Pub.

When you first walk in, someone will be standing there and telling everyone about the Queens Tea.
You must buy tickets for it. If you don't see anyone, just ask. They will be happy to help.

Tickets are available at the front gate or just inside. Sometimes near the tent as well. They are currently $10 each (or were Sunday).

30-35 people is a great turn out, and there will be plenty of seats for everyone! Is this Tea Party planned for Saturday or Sunday this weekend?

We can easily handle 30-35.  I think our cap for tea is 80, but we've even gone higher.

It helps to call the office with an estimate if you are bringing in a large group.  It helps the kitchen to be better prepared, and the sales folks not to oversell the event.  Call the rough guestimate to 1-800-779-4910

So did anyone do as the queen suggested and call and give the kitchen a heads up?

Maybe we should do a quick tally for this Saturday the 14th...
