We'll know either today or tomorrow after they meet with Madge. They've only been permitted to busk, not given a contract, so I don't know whether they'll have a stage or not.
Please do let us know where to find them and aproxx what time. I only have half a day Saturday and I want to be sure to see them.
Thanks again Kathryn. :)
Congrats on booking Wine & Alchemy ... really cool group. Hey, even a limited engagement is better than none at all. :)
Yes please post before this weekend of where to find them as otherwise I am afraid I'll miss it! Thanks!
I'm missing them by one weekend. :(
OK, so I'm standing............
Let us all hope I don't start dancing. ;D
Course that will depend on the status of said flask....
And run if I start singing..

Dang Athena, that's the biggest cup I have ever seen! LOL!
For the ladies--some things never change.
Thank God. ;)

I have to say I liked W&A better. Picked up their CD and am looking forward to their next one.
We were very pleased to have them with us. Hopefully next year we can work something out to have them more.

You are super! Mark is staying with us and we were having lunch when he got your call. Thank you!!!!!! You're the best.
P.S. to everyone else: Wine and Alchemy is coming back for the remainder of the faire, save for the last weekend which they have already been contracted for by Scarby.
HUZZAH!!!!!! That's wonderful news!
YAY!!!!! That makes a happy princess!!
*is listening to there CD right Now at Work*
I'm so glad! I've a few more chances to see them now. :)
One of my good friends, and fellow Texas rennies ChrisB is going to be playing with Wine and Alchemy on the weekend of the 28th at BARF. Please take care of him while he's there, it's his first foray into an out of state faire...
Maybe I'll send him with a bottle of my Texas Loki as payment...
Huzzah, they were really good. :)
Huzzah! I'm so glad we won't miss them! ;D
I saw them on the program for this weekend but I could not seem to find them?
did they move them? they were not at Pyrates pub
They are the resident pub band at the newly renovated Queen's Pub (over by Washing Well Wench stage)
OOOH!!!! Okies!!!
THANK YOU!!!
WAIT!
WAIT!
THERE IS A NEW PUB!?!!@#@!$#!@????
Actually, the Queen's Pub, which was on the corner near the Washing Well Stage, has been moved into the old special events tent. Look for the climbing wall, and listen for the wonderful sounds of Wine and Alchemy. Pub is bigger with lots of seating. ;D

I asked the same thing myself. i am thankful to Tin for pointing out that The Queen's Pub had been moved inside. Need a place to rest prior to Queen's Tea.
By the way Your Majesty, thank you to and all the court for the special B-Day wish at tea!
Wine and Alchemy is one of my favorite bands!!! Their sound is beautiful and unique and their members are super cute and extremely nice! I wish I could attend this festival just to see them again before the fall... but I'm afriad it's much too far to travel!
Elizabeth,
You're going to Scarby right? They are playing there all 8 weekends so you can catch them there. I thought you were on the list.
Wow, I had no idea. I didn't know they'd be there this year, how very exciting!! Thanks for the news.
I was promised Kashmir next weekend but I have to say I think Matty Groves has become my favorite!

Yeah, I have Kashmir now, but do not get your hopes up for a Jenny or Corrin level performance yet. I am scrambling to get all these songs memorized and to a polished level. I have learned over an hour and a half worth of W&A music in less than a month and a half while working full time and managing a family of seven. I am about to pass out at this point, but I will try not to dissapoint you all. ;D
OK, so this thread has eluded me until now...
Chris, I'll see you upon arrival... will seek you out and will make sure to catch a performance!!!
Huzzah to your foray to Fittleworth
I picked up the CD this past weekend and love it! Agreed WW, Matty Groves is a favorite for sure, but I really am fond of the Love Song. It's listed as Chanson la Amour I think.
Looking forward to hearing you play this weekend Chris. :)
FYI--
The earliest published version of Matty Groves appeared in 1658.
Adultery being the underlying theme but the ending has varied from time to time. The husband gets executed, Lord Donald's wife kills him and escapes....
The song has had a few variations of the names too but the lesson is the same--
Don't dig in another man's garden lest ye become fertilizer.

I always thought the lesson was to sleep lightly and know where your clothes are in the dark?
LOL--ranks right up with the three words women HATE to hear while making love--
'Honey? I'm home!'
But I digress--
Sorry that this is Wine and Alchemy's last weekend. But it was nice to renew friendships.
And share a laugh over a long-forgotten story that made it to Texas..... ;)

Thanks for all of you being supportive. Less than 36 hours till I leave Houston. I look forward to meeting you all on Saturday so stop by and say hello. One last night of practice.
Okay, I tok a look at the cd cover..TOTALLY butchered the title of that song. My french grandmother would not be proud...*sigh*,
It's Le Chanson d' Amour...The Love Song..and written by Marc. Beautiful. :) I was driving along listening to it this morning and seriously about swooned.
Here's a link to the first version I ever heard of this song...It's audio only, but does have the incomparable Sandy Denny singing lead vocals...Incidentally, she is the only female singer ever to have recorded with Led Zeppelin, she adds her voice to "The Battle of Evermore."

I wish I'd been able to see more of them while I was at BARF so briefly two weekends ago, but the little bit I did see of them proved how much tighter they've become...I'm hoping that they can squeeze in a weekend or two up here in TN this May again, like they did last year!
A shame you didn't let me know you'd be about Nicki. Would have been nice to share an ale with you.
wait a minute...
how did I miss you, Lady Nicolette?
Anna and Adolfo: We were really only there for about four hours, at the max and that was on Saturday...I knew you were planning on Sunday, Anna, so knew I'd miss seeing you but not sure if you were there on Saturday, Adolfo. I did see a few familiar faces from a distance (Lord Jarhead and Gimli come to mind right away) and somehow never even saw Lairde once...I did have the pleasure of meeting Ladyfaire and we spent a little bit of time with Athena, Welsh Wench and Quiet One. Nice Faire, I hope I get a chance to visit a wee bit longer next year...
I was there all day Saturday... but if you ne'er saw Lairde Guard'n M'Crack, it's no surprise you ne'er saw me for I spent nearly the entire day with him. Such wonderful company...
still, I missed you...
so... two years ago I drove 12 hours to TN for 4 hours at Faire and then headed back to FL...
and now you have done the same in reverse?
Ah, that was the weekend I didn't attend at all. We'll catch up another time. I hope your faire is able to snag Wine and Alchemy
Wonder what other faires they'll be at this year? I may do some traveling to a couple faires if Ican manage it. I'll have to check their site.
How wonderful to see them again and in such great form with Chris there!
The best part was having Mark and Neil take me aside and sing a song that was just too funny! ;D
Adolfo...No wonder I missed you, then...I only sort of did that, we spent the rest of the week around Florida in other pursuits before heading back to TN.
Anna...I almost feel like I wasn't there that weekend, either! Too short!
Wenchie...Wish I could have been present for that one!

Thanks. I really enjoyed getting to play and meeting you all. Hopefully I will be able to venture down again next year. You all made it very easy to perform, and I was very comfortable there. Thanks again.
PS. Oh, if anyone has pics of us playing on this weekend, I would really appreciate having a few pics of my first time performing. Thanks again.
Hey Chris. I have a few. I'll post them this afternoon.
It was great meeting you and hearing you play. I so hope you will all make it back again next year. :)
Here's what I have. The rest were duds. I had an especially hard time catching Roxanne as she danced. I was too mesmerised by her slow sword dance to take pictures and the rest were danced so quickly my camera couldn't keep up.

Yeah, I feel like an arse cause I knew you were coming in to BARF and I didn't see you. Then I did the same to Chris B this weekend. I apologize for my lack of manners to the both of you.
We were there for such a blip in time, it hardly seemed like we were there, either...I also missed Escarlata and Leinad entirely.
It was a shame I missed you... I'd have liked to have gotten to spend some time with you.
There is never enough time at Faire...
I was there with my husband and some of my family on the 21st; we met Welsh Wench, and Escarlata & Leinad, and a few others who's names were lost in the cider...we had a LOVELY time, and I hope to be back again next year :)
It has been an amazing season
ChrisB, it was a pleasure to meet you... Wine and Alchemy sounded most exquisite!
