Some of you may have read my post over in the sewing forum about my husband and his best friend ( AKA flamingo) having me make them identical flamingo pink pirate outfits.
Unfortunately the way it looks my husband's fellow "Flamingo brother" is being shipped over seas (most likely Germany). This leads me to two questions.
1) Would it be incharacter and fun if he went to TRF alone in his flamingo costume? He was thinking if he was asked where the other flamingo brother was he would say "He is off on the contient courting a German heiress. I'm afriad Lord Tristan had a trist with the wrong lady."
2) My rogue's aunt is a 2x breast cancer survivor. Every year we do the Koman walk. Last year he did it in his Griffin Kilt. He got alot of attention for doing it. This year he is thinking of doing it in his Flamingo pirate. I have a pink princess outfit that I wear when we go out together. That way he is just a "Pink Pirate" ;D Do you think that it is a good idea to do the walk in his pink ren garb?
Opinions on this topic?
I think it's a FANTASTIC idea to do the walk in pink pirate garb! After all, what pirate doesn't want to save a "Treasure Chest" ? ;)
I concur with Tygrkat!!
PINK PYRATYES!! Bring it on!!!

ROFL..Tygrkat, you're bad girl ! ;D ;D ;)
I agree. The pink pirate garb at the walk would rock. I also would not be afraid to wear the pink pirate garb to the faire. Being that I am into pirates and I like to protray one, I have done some research on pirates, and you will find that in the true history of pirates, you will see that there were some male pirate captains whoose garb was a bit on the feminine side. Some were even known to wear women's clothing.
Alot of them liked to wear flamboyant outfits and vivid colors. I think with the right imagination your husband could have lots of fun wearing the pink pirate garb to faire.
Do post pictures if he decides to.
A pink pirate outfit at the walk will bring attention to both the cause and faire. I think it's a great idea!
As for the faire itself, he probably will get some strange looks and some snide remarks. If he can deal with that without getting upset, I'd say wear it. He can always reply, if he feels the need to, that he wore it in the breast cancer walk and most people will "get" that.
I love pink, and I'd love to see photos.

Who, me? ;) ;D ;)
Oh he wore it to faire with his Flamingo brother last year. They loved it. With in hours we would walk into a new shop and people would say "Oh there are the Flamingo's. We have heard about you." We are planning on going to closing weekend of the southern california Pleasure faire, and they will be in costume.
As for the walk I was just curious what you guys thought. There was one year that the local wench's guild did the walk in full regalia, and the rogue's did it with them in garb on the condition that the girls did the testicular cancer walk with them.
Koma they carried signs that said "Save the melons," for the mens "Save the grapes" ;D

As for pictures, these are from last fall's TRF and halloween.

These are the additions to the flamingo's for Scarby this year.

I agree, just add a pink ribbon and it perfect!
What a perfect idea! I'm sure it will attract LOTS of attention and sponsorship for the cancer charity, which is what it needs. ;D
As for going on his own... Look, if a man need HELP to wear that colour, he can't be much of a man! :P Yes, wear it, with pride. Pink is not just for Barbie!
Here is a question my rogue asked me to ask you.
He is going to wear his pink pirate to the walk. And with all the left overs I may make something for me to go with it.
Would it be alright for him to post a link here to his fund raising site?
What are the rules for that?
Save the melons! All wenches must have treasure chests! ;D
LadyStitch,
I see no problem with posting the fundraising link, but it should be posted in the Mundane Topics section. There is a lot more traffic there also! ;)
Ok. I just wasn't sure where we would need to post the link. :) At least he will being attention to the cause... one way or the other. ;D
Actually, in certain periods in Eurpoean history, pink was considered a masculine color.
