Title: Pattern request
Post by: Lady L on March 11, 2009, 11:37:29 PM
I was hoping someone here has a pattern I could buy from them. I am looking for a simplicity pattern that is out of print. It is 9836 Andrea Schewe girls 7-14. I bought one from ebay, but it was missing a lot of pieces and the directions. :(
I suppose I could draw one, but I thought it would be easier/quicker to adjust a pattern.
Thanks.

If you fancy trying ebay again, this one is uncut: http://cgi.ebay.com/Simplicity-9836-Girls%27-Renaissance-Costumes-7-14-OOP_W0QQitemZ110352513308QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20090217?IMSfp=TL090217111001r31116

Other than that, could you use the bits that you do have to extrapolate the bits you don't?

The Elizabethan ensemble I did for my Granddaughter back in 2004 was all hand drafted, especially for the Bodice.

The Bodice as I had drafted it.

That particular patern I have seen, but never bought.

Hand drafted Shoulder rolls. The Sleve pattern was also hand drafted.

The finished Bodice, which had grommets down the back for lacing.

How I drafted this, was take an Adult Bodice pattern from Alter Years and drafted it into a sized 8 based on my Granddaughter's measurements to get the right look needed. being that she was and still flat in the bust, I needed no corset. There was light boning in her bodice in places.

If you can't get the complete pattern, Lady L, perhaps drafting a pattern using an Adult one as a guide might help.

Thank you for the replies!
I was able to find a website that had one pattern and I ordered it. They shipped it today, Thurs. It is supposed to be new and uncut.

The one on ebay said it was uncut, but all the pieces I wanted had been cut out of it. The chemises and the bodice were not there. It did contain 2 different sleeves, 2 different hats, a 6" rectangle for the apron waistband, a collar, a ruffle and a large rectangle for a skirt. Nothing I needed. The seller said it could be returned and she would refund the money and one way shipping. So, I will be out 1.50 return shipping. Fortunately, I have a lot of time before I need it.

The thing I think is odd, is that when Simplicity discontinued that pattern, they never came out with another one for girls 7-14. They have small children and adults, but nothing inbetween. That's a lot of girls without garb!

Lady Kathleen, thanks for the suggestion. The gown you made for your granddaughter is lovely. I was trying to cut out the drafting part.  ;)
My granddaughter will still be able to wear the velveteen gown I made for her last year. I just thought this would be another option, especially making the bodice out of remnant pieces. Then, I can just whip up some coordinating skirts!
