Do we have a topic for opening?
Lets start putting suggestions out I always love to see what other people are interested in learning about.
I'd like to know more about societies of the time like the Guild of St George founded by King Henry to promote archery.
History, Customs and Manners will be at the Hightower Square everyday @ 11:30.
As for the Topic O' the day... I hear tell rumor was it was going to be in the program.
I'd like to see something on 'manner of address for noble and non-noble'
also 'attitude towards rank'
As a Scot, "Kill the English" comes to mind.
First weekend we will be covering daily life in the period. After that each week we will have a set topic on Saturday, and Sunday will be the topic as requested from those in attendance the week before.
Forms of address can be covered in detail, I will be sure it gets added to the list.

As an English, "How Flodden Messed It Up for Everyone" comes to mind. ;)

As an Englishman Your Majesty, "BBBBBAAAAAAAAAAAA" or Silence of the Lambs comes to mind.
Given I went form sixth in line to inheriting; Flodden went very well thank you very much. I could be mean and say given Henry's performance in France its a shame he and the royal guard weren't at Flodden because then the Scot's would have won. ;D But I'd never go that low.
In Sooth I do want to say thanks to all the SAPA members who come to the lectures and help out. It is awesome to see others who have such a love of history and acting and willing to share what they know. Youse guys are the best (even if you are English 8))

Yeah, we were sooo very busy taking Therouanne and winning the Battle of the Spurs. :P

I not sure a brief cavalry skirmish with a few French knights counts as a battle or the taking of a small village counts as a conquest. However its not be my place to question the King at least not while visiting his friendly little village of Scarborough. :D
Besides I was with the 1,500 archers you sent to help Margaret of Savoy, the Regent of Flanders, against the Duke of Guelders. Now maybe if you had us at Therouanne the French wouldn't have gotten away. :P

I see the Sunday of Royal Ale and Wine Tasting weekend is open how about food, cooking, and drinks for that day?
I really enjoy hearing about the common life of the period.
For one of the open weekends how about a brief on the Courts and the Law how they differed from the modern institutions.
Would it be possible- and if someone already suggested this I must have just skimmed that thread- but...if someone makes it to one of the lessons, if they could post a summary of it? That way, since they are different each time, we could still learn something.
I love history- just not textbooks :)
Another possible topic for an open day might be the monetary system and values. What would a schilling really buy in 1533? And what is a farthing? If my idea is accepted, feel free to send me all royalties just not in farthings...
Maybe on May 10 since we are doing Courtly Love and Marriage on Sat we can do honour, dueling, and revenge on Sunday?
For one of the last 2 open weekends (we will not be there Mothers Day) I'd love to hear about children & education at that time. The role of children in society, who was educated & what were they taught, differences in education for different classes & genders.
Hello there gang! Here is the update for what will be taught this weekend.

Pirate weekend we'll be doing all things sea, last I heard
We had a fantastic closing weekend lecture covering the history of Scarborough and the real faire. My very heart felt thanks to our four caste members who took the time to present history in such an interesting, fun and informative manner. You really made the history come alive, thank you very much.
All the lectures were enjoyable. Huzzah to the presenters!
