I was asked to pass along news that I didn't want to hear. It is with a heavy sadness on my heart that I write these words.
Papagnome (AKA Scolaigh) has left our world.
I don't have many details at the moment but will pass along what I know as soon as I know it.
During the night he told his lovely Lady Teanha that he was feeling rough, an ambulance was called and he passed away not long after.
I feel truly blessed to have had this giant of a man in my life and will forever treasure the memories made with him. I am especially grateful to have been able to have visited with him and spent time with him during this past weekend of Scarborough faire.
As I have been making phone calls this morning letting people know I am beginning to realize how many people have been touched by him. Every call I make reminds me of other people I need to call. Every person I tell not only knows Scol but was touched by him in some way.
A great man walked among us for a time and I feel blessed to have known him.
Please keep T and the family in your thoughts and prayers as they work through this difficult time.
He will be greatly missed...he was such a beautiful soul and I personally consider myself blessed to have known him.
God rest him well & bless Lady T.
He will be greatly missed.
Love and Light to Teahna and the rest of the family in their time of need, as well as to the many friends and fellow Gnomes and Gnomies who are hurting now.
Rest well gentle friend....you will be missed by many. :'(
Lady Teanha ....our thoughts go out to you.
I feel lucky and blessed to have been able to see him one last time. He went from one magical place (Scarby) to another, but I wasn't ready for him to leave so soon. I miss you already Scol. :'(
I'm tremendously grateful that I was able to spend some time with him this weekend at Scarby, and still keep catching myself thinking of things and reminding myself to tell him.
Nothing will be the same without him :'(
I was so saddened and sorry to hear this news. He will be greatly missed. My thoughts go out to his family.
He will be greatly missed. It is hard to think I will not see him when I come down to TRF....... :'(
Very sad news indeed.
We shared a bit of banter at the faire last year and agreed there was no finer place to be.
Vaya con Dios Papagnome.
I never met him, but i hear he was a really nice guy and will missed by many.
The only words I have ever heard about Papagnome was the love he shared with so many people. The heavens just gained a bright star.
My heart goes out to the DG family, both near and far.
al;kagiojao[gvniagn;aegvnae;gvnejklgv;djk...............is what has been going on in my head.......
Sadness and confusion...........
I'm really wish I could have seen the armor he wanted to create..........
Good man........
sigh..........
Rest in peace my friend, my Brother. I miss you already.
My heart goes out to all of you, and his family..
I am so sorry for your loss...
Yet another angel leaves this earth to spread his wings and be gaurdian to those left behind. You will be missed my friend but you will live on in the memories of those who walk on the earth. Blessings and prayers to your loved ones.
Ummm, could someone please possibly post a photo of PapaGnome, as I believe there might be some who are confusing him with Roger Kerchival, who is the eldest gnome on the TRF cast?
Here's a pic that I lifted from the Drunken Gnomes site.... a pic of Scol and Teahna...

And from mine... I am missing him so much already

I have heard so many fun and wonderful things about him from so many people here, and I was greatly looking forward to meeting him at TRF this fall. I am so sorry for the loss you have all suffered, and my heart goes out to his family, both near and far...
I didn't get to meet him in person, but I did buy one of his chain-maille chains (Black & Blue Aluminum, with his signature single Green Link) at the Serendipity Haven Pirate Fest last September, on the weekend after Hurricane Ike. Since he was dealing with storm damage at their home, one of the other booths at the Fest had some of his merchandise, selling it for him. I'm sure glad they were --- I really like the chain.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
Take Care,
David Baldock
A fine man has passed from this realm . . . Godspeed, Papagnome!
I barely knew papagnome but he was always around! He will always be with us though.
My thoughts are with his family.
I didn't know him very well but I do know that he was a good kind man and a friend to everyone he met, he was loved by many and will be missed greatly. Rest in peace Papagnome...
(corrected, Thanks Yrose)

I still can't believe it. I think it's only just starting to sink in today, because I can't seem to stop crying. I just thought I'd share one of my favorite pictures of him being silly.

Latest post is that the viewing is 4-8 PM Thursday.
Services Friday at 2 PM.
I'll be at the funeral home Thursday as soon as I get off work.
I can be at the funeral Friday and provide what support that is needed. Since I attend at least one funeral a month for WWII submarine veterans, I am available.
Can we get a piper to play at the funeral? Amazing Grace would be nice. Anyone have contacts for the pipers of The Rogues or Tartanic?
Spanish Peacock is also a piper, he's there in Houston, and, sad to say, he has experience piping loved ones into the final Faire...
Seryn, Drake, Dergrim and I will be at the viewing late in the evening tomorrow, and at the funeral on Friday. Word is that there will also be an informal memorial at Woody's on Saturday, I'll post more about it if I can find the details. I know they were posted on a Yahoo group, I ust can't remember which one right now.
I dread the moment that this comforting numbness wears off :'(
I believe the thing at Woody's is for X but I am pretty sure they wouldn't mind making it a double send off.
And I agree... I hate to think how I would be without the numbness right now...
I'll be at the funeral tomorrow also.

I'm not going to the viewing. I can't bear it. That would take away the numbness and I don't think I could drive all the way home in Richmond alone. I will be at the funeral (non garb) and Woody's this Sat.
See y'all soon.

Just back home.
Service was a perfect tribute to a wonderful man
Fairewell my friend, until we meet again...
Well, I'm very sad to hear of the passing of papagnome, and I just saw him at scarby on Sat. I spoke to him only briefly, wish now I had spent a little more time talking to him, my thoughts and priers go out to his family and loved ones.
I'm happy to announce that between the fundraiser held at Woody's Saturday and monies already in the Rennie Relief Fund, we were able to help his wife Teahna with emergency needs - yay rennies! Hip Hip Huzzah! ;D
I was unfortunately unable to attend the viewing, funeral or the Woody's gathering (stupid "mechanic" aka brother-in-law). Am still trying to come to grips with all of it. :'(
there will be a rememberence service for Papa and several others at this years TRF not sure what weekend you would have to get in touch with TMI to findout. it will be in Loki Alley In the Chaos camp
alas I have been corrected the rememberence is for X at chaos, Papagnome wasn't mentioned. Trolls are like everyone else we seem to loose the ability to remember things when we get old
Most likely The Drunken Gnomes will do something for Papa Gnome.
