Title: D&D co-creator passes
Post by: Don Quixote on April 10, 2009, 09:40:15 AM
Dave Arneson, one of the co-creators of the fantasy game Dungeons and Dragons, died after a two-year battle with cancer. He was 61.

Saw this yesterday. Sadly he never got the creit Gary git. Now both founders of a beloved game are gone. They will both be sadly missed.

It's fitting my gaming group isn't meeting today. Kind of a silent tribute to them.

My friends and I have been gaming together for 25 years now and we were all stunned and saddened by Mr. Arneson's passing at 61.  Still the word was that both he and Gary Gygax were not in the best of health and we wish their respective families our condolences and thanks for the many years we enjoyed playing their games!

I was lucky to be able to actually interact with both Dave and Gary on the old-school rpg forums they frequented.
Both of the fathers of role-playing have been called home and it's a good thing that we sons and daughters are so many.
I posted about his death on my personal blog (and Gary's last year, if ya look a bit back.). Anyone's welcome to read it. (Warning: Profanity, RPG geekness and conservative-leaning Libertarian political thinking is present on my personal blog. ;D)
