I'm a member, and am pretty sure there are a few other members too.  (don't know my number offhand).

All I ask is that anyone replying to this thread, please no links, since the site has many NSFW pics...

Mine is # 721873

Add me if you like and I'll accept you when I get around to logging on 'which isn't very often'.

Don't put too much promise 'so to speak' from models on that site.

The best networking you could have there is typing your website url onto your MM page to direct people over to you.

We call those "models" Flakes and 99% of the models on MM are Flakes!

Lol. i have started to notice that.  But what i do like is some of the images that fellow photographers create.  It definitely helps when in need of inspiration.

I'm not a member of MM, but checked out lots of the photos and some of them are really good.  There was a thread where a model and some photographers were arguing about whether or not she would be allowed to have an escort at the shoot.  Nobody really gave any reasons, just a bunch of bickering between the parties involved.

Is it that this model wanted to have a friend there so she would feel safer during the shoot?  Conversely, do the photographers feel that having someone else there would interfere with the creativity and/or pace of the work?

The escorts topic comes up all the time. And the debate can get quite heated.

Those against it feel escorts area distraction.

quick paraphrase
"It's a job you don't take an escort to work, do you?"
"Boyfriend, husband distract the model. Model will check with BF to see if pose is ok"
And some escorts have damaged equipment.

Those for Escorts want company to fell safer or company fora long trip to an unknown town so they won't be alone after a shoot.

I skip those threads now.

I avoid those threads too but escorts are good and bad. For a young model I would suggest an escort at all times. But boyfriends and husbands are the worst person to be an escort. I guess a girlfriend or wife could be bad too but I think guys in general are the worst. Having the proper paperwork ready before doing any work is also critical.

Most models on MM are also not really models. They are wanna be's. But that is also true for most of the photographers there too.

Yeah that seems to be the case with the escort threads.  Lots of arguement over the merrits and issues with having an escort.  Personally i think it depends greatly on the individual situation.  A shoot with somone under 18 for example, is a dead given.  But even the hubby situation can be good in some situations.  This is why i do a sit down meeting before any shoot, to get a feel for the person and lay down the ground rules.

Unfortunately Jon is right about the majority of Models and Photographers there.  Most are wannabe's.  I unfortunately have to place myself in that catagory as well.  But i see it as an opportunity to view the talent of those that are not, and the crap from those that will never be.  This way it can be used as a learning tool.  Hopefully one day, the aspiring photographers like myself will develop the talent to rise above our current level.

There's a big difference between the "wannabe's" and the real photographers. Every photographer starts somewhere and works at the craft with sincerity. With time and experience the photographer gets better and better. The guys we call wannabe's are guys with cameras that just snap away, turn out terribly embarrassing work and think they are high quality pro's. Personally, I think my photography skills are terrible. But other people seem to like my work so I continue. We also have those individuals that are born naturals at photography but we won't talk about them here.  :-\
