Title: Baking Beads?
Post by: Kahlan Rose on April 12, 2009, 08:03:24 PM
What do you all think about baked beads? They're made from flour, salt and water and then cooked. I'm thinking about making them and painting them to incorporate into my costume.(gypsy)

I wouldn't think that they would hold up very well (judging by the many salt doguh Christmas tree ornaments made as a child, I've never made beads from it.) I think you would be happier in the long run if you spend a few dollars on some Fimo or Sculpey clay instead.

Even if you paint them the beads will be somewhat brittle. Then if you get caught in a downpour, beads paint and all are likely to melt on your garb. It seems like a lot of work for not much return.
