Third weekend Weather:
Saturday: Thunderstorms likely >:( High around 75F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 80% >:(
Saturday night: Partly cloudy skies. Low 56F :( Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.
Sunday: A few clouds :) Highs in the mid 70s and lows in the low 50s.
Oh great, another messed up weekend. Weather mages are falling down on the job. Off with their heads.
I can do rain! At least it is warm rain! Not freezing rain like TRF- I survived that too! Var and I are still coming! See you Saturday. I am expecting 100% chance of FUN!!!
Disclaimer- this weather is none of my doing!!!!
"Open Rain or Shine"!... it'll be fun to watch a muddy chess match. P.S. there is a video on youtube of our good King mud-diving, though it doesn't show what you looked like afterward! Huzzah for being such a sport.
post the video
I saw it LIVE, it was GREAT!!
One weather site says the rain Saturday morning is supposed to be gone by 11:00am.
Let's hope so. Poor King Henry doesn't do a pretty impersonation of an old wet hen. ;) ;D
Will there be a repeat of the famous mud dive?

I hope not you know how hard it rained that Monday? Its bad when you start worrying about the water reaching your kilt.
That particular Monday was INSANELY downpour-ish! We were soaked through every layer, and in nobles, that's hard to do! Of course, it probably helps that the Marchioness got in a water fight with one of the Baronesses and then ended up teaming up with her against one of the King's Guards. *snerk*
Seriously, we reached a point where the cast pretty much said "Can't get any wetter!" and just played in the rain. I remember walking up and down along the side of the kitchens by Captain's Pub and taunting the crowd that was hiding under the overhang, calling them cowards for being scared of a little water. I got some to come out and dance in the puddles with me. :)
It was fun, but very, very WET!
Forecast from weather.gov for Waxahachie:
Saturday: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 1pm. >:( Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 74. East northeast wind around 5 mph becoming south southwest.
Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 53. West southwest wind between 5 and 10 mph.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 73. Windy, with a northwest wind between 15 and 25 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
Hopefully it will stop raining before parade Saturday :-\
Just remember that even if it stops raining, it will still be slick out there. Pay attention to your footing! Trust me, I spent time flat on my arse in a mudpuddle in the SAPA parking lot a couple of years ago, followed by time in the EMT's shack. Not fun at all! (Though the Boys in Orange are always fun guys, it's just better to not need their professional services.)
Gretchen and I are packing the rainboots just in case. I think the camera will be staying in the car for Opening Gate
Between the weather and his Excellency's cold, I think we're shooting for Sunday.
That should be different.
Sounds like some mild scottish weather on Saturday
Nothing more period than rainboots haha. And yes meg, I am finally posting :P

Awww, tell Don Juan that I hope he feels better. I shall miss you both tomorrow!
Just got home, another fantastic day at the village of Scarborough! Wish we were going back tomorrow, sounds like the weather will be great. But, great day today. My son, who just finished his stint with the USMC, and his lady friend attended for their first time ever....and will be back May 16th dressed in Pirate garb....oh yeah, they are hooked.
Sunday was marvelous. It was a bit breezy but the temperature was (http://images.clipartof.com/thumbnails/22134-Royalty-Free-Clipart-Illustration-Of-Yellow-Emoticon-Face-Lady-With-Eyelashes-And-Pink-Lips-Puckering-Up-For-A-Kiss.jpg)
Actually Saturday was Ok too. There was fog and mist in the AM- but no rain and the temp was very comfortable and the mud dried out and it was a glorious faire day!
It rained like mad at home! Elgin got 5"! My weather spell worked out very well!
Fourth weekend weather:
Apr 25 Saturday: Cloudy and windy. Highs in the mid 80s and lows in the upper 60s.
Apr 26 Sunday: Partly cloudy with a stray thunderstorm. Highs in the low 80s and lows in the mid 60s.
Grammercy for the forecast VIII! Trying to decide on what garb to wear on Saturday. That is the problem with too much garb! LOL!
i just don't see how some people survive the heat with all the layers they wear (mainly the royals)... i know people have said the layers absorb and keep you cooler, but i just don't see it
Having played an English court noble the past three years in two layers of orange tapestry, the key is hydration during the week, hydration during the day, knowing your limits and not doing anything on a Monday. It helps that the cast, in general, does not consume booze during the faire day. We also work our way up to it throughout the workshop process and the season before it gets truly hot.
So, in all honesty, it is conditioning.

Some of it is the type of material that our garb is made from. The Marques's garb and mine is made out of combinations of linen, cotton and silk.
Cotton brocade or brocatelle is hard to find but it is out there, as well as cotton velvet.
Then of course hydration is key.
Water, Water and more water, which brings up a side note. If you are overheated and dehydrated, ice water can be detrimental. The ice can produce a sudden shock to the system.
Layering does help if its loose and allows for air flow. Its one of the reason we Scots can wear nine yards of wool without roasting. Of course that isn't much help to the ladies in their bondices.
sigh... no wearing the new coat tomorrow.
Was going to wear it as long as it stayed at 80... more than that is just to much... double sigh
*at least I can still have rum*
Mmmm, the warmer it gets, the more limited the garb option become, especially since I get fatigued mid-day really easy.
Lotsa lotsa water for me and hiding under my parasol usually helps. Or making sure I sit down often in the shade.
But it sounds like it will be beautiful weather, I'm excited! :)

It's not that bad... ;)
Waves fan like mad! Renaissance air conditioning helps!
Fifth weekend weather:
Saturday: Partly cloudy, chance of a thunderstorm. Highs in the mid 80s and lows in the mid 60s.
Sunday: A few thunderstorms possible >:( Highs in the upper 70s and lows in the low 60s.

Getting old.........but we will still have fun regardless.
Its really nice of you English wanting us Scots to feel at home and importing all this Scottish weather but there is a reason we keep coming south you know its to get away for the Scottish weather.
The common occurence so far this year is that.. it'll be a Highland Morning, followed by a healthy day of humid, Eastern sea-side weather (I.E. probably exactly what the real Scarborough experiences)
So, come prepared for dancing in puddles, and end the day relaxing in the shade.
Cheers!
What is with the mud there - I am still chiseling it off my boots. We were there on the 18th and 19th.
This was a really nice place - we shall return.
We have that lovely Southern Clay mud. Just wait till it dries and knock it off the boots/garb/mugs/hats/fans, etc. ;D
By the way lilaney, great meeting you at the Coterie last Saturday. You were the LAST person I thought would come through LOL.
well the forecast has improved.....keep thinking NO RAIN.
I HOPE the weather improves by Sunday, I have a coronation at 1:30 p.m. with the Crown Jewels and a 10 yard red wool train lined with white fur!
I am home with the kids this weekend, so I'll do my anti-rain dance for all of you. Good luck. ;D
God keep the King dry! ...and save him.
I bought the domain name CrownJewels.com (http://estibot.com/results.php?domain=CrownJewels.com) in 2007 as an investment. Looking forward to seeing you with them VIII.

I just checked the forecast for tomorrow. Keep thinking sunshine everyone...
"Partly sunny with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some thunderstorms may be severe in the afternoon. Highs in the upper 70s. South winds 10 to 15 mph becoming southeast 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon."
My weather spells are not working this weekend. Long story.
I just saw a forecast. Did the bad weather hit Scarby??? I hope all goes well tomorrow. Sad I can't be there. A ride did not appear for Sunday.
Alas!
We called it a day at about 3 of the clock due to the downpour just prior. Good thing too, as I saw more showers moved through after that. Looks like tomorrow I'll be "drummin' in the rain" >:(
Have been texting Gretchen, Chris (Sir Jerrick Reyfe), and CatAshtrophy during the day and apparently it was pretty wet today.
I hope it dries up for you all today. Too bad I couldn't have been out there with my cute golashes...:] Made the rain go away last time!
We just missed the downpour but the rain was so heavy at one point we were doing 22 on I35.
The updated forecast for Sunday calls for Thunderstorms until after 1:00PM,
so it looks like Sunday is a washout for us.
(Pardon the pun)
Looking like hot and humid for Sat?
If you like the weather- I did it!
If not- it is not my fault! LOL!
It says 30% chance of rain for Saturday, but I'm quite happy that we are getting a chance to attend this weekend at all!!! My sister, my mom, and I will all be there Saturday all day long! Can't wait to see all my friends!

'sabout time!!! We'll try to have something to hand off to you two. And, of course you're invited out to dinner with the herd, when we determine who the herd is and when/where the herd wants to graze ;D
Stalk well...
Sadly this weekend we won't get to hang on Sat night due to going to up my brothers house near Denton for Mothers day... Thanks so much for the invite though and I truly look forward to seeing you all!!
Queen B's weather magic seems to have worked for this weekend. It's leaning toward being fairly nice. 30% chance of showers, mostly cloudy with a high of 75 with a north breeze following a cold front blowing through on Friday night so a bit less humid. We are going for our annual "shopping" day when we don't attend any shows (will be in the wedding garden at noon though) and just browse all the shops and get new garb and accessories! I've only been able to speak with a few of you, it seems that when I see someone they are busy or all the way across the shire. We are spending the night at the Best Western this Friday and will be there all day Saturday. See you there...
Sixth weekend weather:
Saturday: Partly cloudy with a slight chance of thunderstorms >:( A few storms may be severe :o High near 75F. Winds E at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 30%. ::)
Saturday night: Isolated thunderstorms in the evening. Cloudy skies overnight. Low near 60F. Winds N at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 30%.
Sunday: Isolated thunderstorms >:( Highs in the mid 70s and lows in the low 60s. ::)
I will bring my rain cape- then it won't rain! It has worked before!
Thanks for the official report VIII! 75 beats 90 and humid!
Trying to not put too much tail of newt in the weather potion for this weekend!
See you all on the morrow!
Remember.... a 30% chance of rain means that it's 70% likely to NOT rain.
We wizards can't use all our magic on keeping the rain away... it's so tiring.
I'll do my best for the upcoming weekend since Queen Bonnie will not be in attendance to help me... her evil twin sister may offer some assistance.
DW
Thanks Merlin! My Evil Twin and her crew are hoping for cool sea breezes at Scarby next weekend. Perhaps with both of us working on the weather spells and potions we might get the temperature down a few degrees! We want happy pirates!
Final weekend will be the challenge! It is always SO hot!
I am also working on getting a ride there for closing weekend!
Seventh weekend weather:
Saturday: Slight chance of a thunderstorm >:( Highs in the upper 70s and lows in the low 60s :)
Sunday: Occasional showers possible ::) Highs in the low 70s and lows in the mid 50s :)
That sure beats 90's and humid! The pirates should like it!
I just wish we'd have a whole weekend that is rain-free :-\
I make no promises for Saturday.... but Sunday will be magical.
DW
Sunday now looks perfect...Partly cloudy, lower humidity and high of 76. Our pirate twins are headed out this weekend...should be nice
Dadgum weather better straighten up and fly right. Overcast is ok, flooding, not so much.
Well my boss just gave me some amazing news, we will be there both Sat and Sun since he has to come in for meetings anyhow on Sunday.... YEAHHHH!!!!!!!!
Looks like we'll try again on Sunday. It was flooding at 4:30am on Saturday.
Who went today?
ENOUGH WITH THE RAIN!
I am going tomorrow...I know it's going to be muddy... I don't care. I'm going.
Who's up for it?
Row 12 meet-n-greet?
We were there today, sans children ;D so we stayed until about 6:15, just shopping and seeing a few adult shows ;)
We had a great day, in spite of the rain & muck.
I'll be there tomorrow with two drums on my back, so I'll probably march right past everyone, say a quick Hello, and walk on in...hopefully it won't be too slick in the parking lot :o
I was there. It was soggy, but the mud was wonderfully squishy between the toes. ;D
The weather will be perfect today ! ! ! !
HUZZAH !
Sunday was beautiful. I hope next weekend is ok.
It HAS to be. It's closing weekend!!
It was fun playing in the rain Sat but yesterday was GREAT! ;D
I only wish it had been as pretty yesterday on Saturday. OH well, we can hope and pray that Closing is good.
Queen Bonnie, bring out all the stops and all the spells ya got!
Sat
May 23
Isolated T-Storms
High 86°
Low 66°
Chance of Rain 30%
I will do my best! Closing weekend is always a big challenge! I plan to bring my really big staff!
At least the pirates did not roast! Sat in the mud was fun!( I hated cleaning my Evil Twin's boots for her though!) Sunday was near perfection!
Glad to hear the temp should be around 86...still hot but not completely unbearable...yea!! My little pirate won't roast quite so badly...lol
I take FULL responsibility for the rain Saturday. In all my years of going to fair (TRF in 1989 was my 1st time) I have never been to faire when there was rain. So of course it was my fault for the rain. Actually I had a blast in the rain well with the exception of not bringing the camera out. I felt REALLY weird without it. :'(
Sun was SO much nicer so I decided to break out the leather armor and wings. I've had them in my trunk all season waiting for a nice day and Sunday was it.
Hopefully This Saturday will be as nice as Sunday was because it's my birthday!! ;D
Reaper, your wings and leather looked great BTW, very fun to meet and hang out last weekend! I agree that I had a good time in the rain too since we basically just got a good buzz going nice and early at the wine tasting and then had fun with that feeling until the end of the day.

I lived dangerously and kept the camera out during the rain on Sat. Hopefully I won't have to worry about that this coming Saturday.
Birthday you say? Oh really? I'll keep that in mind. :P
Looking at the forcast for the final weekend it looks as if we may have made it a whole season with temps under the 90s. 80s are forecast for next weekend.
Queen Bonnie....between the 2 of us.... Me handling Saturday and Sunday...you taking Sunday and Monday,,, I feel certain we can guarantee a DRY weekend. The dragons breath may flow though the grounds a bit... but it wont be the hottest weekend ever.
Tis grand to have another wizard to help out with the weather spells, Merlin!
I have started already! Not too much hair of cat this time! Just a touch of sneeze of spider! Lots of tail of Newt in my potion! The weather for Scarby has been mostly OK this season!
I don't much enjoy the hot stickies- but magick can be unpredictable! I do my best!
Sounds like this weekend will be fairly nice. We've had days pushing 100 on final weekend, so 82 to 85 doesn't sound too bad.
King-Henry-the-Eighth and Final weekend weather:
Saturday: Variable clouds with scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly in the afternoon >:( High 81F. Winds NE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 50% ::)
Sunday: Scattered thunderstorms possible >:( Highs in the low 80s and lows in the mid 60s
Monday: Isolated thunderstorms >:( Highs in the low 80s and lows in the mid 60s
Grar! It rained on my birthday! We still had a great time but still, NO more rain!!!
so freaking wet. I think I'll cheat this weekend and bust out the umbrella.
Yeah. Seriously, Enough with the %$*&ing rain already! !%$#!
I am SOOOOOOOOO tired of the rain!!!!! >:(
It's not going to rain this weekend, because Captain Fletcher and family (including the newest member) will be in attendance, and we simply WILL NOT ALLOW BAD WEATHER!!!!
C R A P ! ! ! ! !
Apparently I used up the majority of my magic this week making Jessica Alba fall in lust with me... now I've lost the handle on the weather.
Queen Bonnie..... HELP !
just looked at weather channel online and it showed 40% chance of rain... maybe if we all put on our ruby slippers and tap our heels three times the rain chances will continue to drop :o ;D merlin do you have any ruby boots? maybe that will help, lol!
i'm determined to have fun rain or shine!
Leaving in just a few hours yippeeeeee! ! ! ;D

I actually didn't this time so it's not my fault!
It's all Merlin's fault. What guy in his right mind would pick lust and Jessica Alba over sunshine.....................Okay, bad example. I am with you on that one. ;D
Chances of rain are increasing...Merlin and Queen B better bring out the heavy duty spells! I tried one, but now I gotta figure out how to change my ears back to normal, they are green now. I better leave the real magic to you guys...
Magick is tricky and not for the faint of heart. Mother Nature and I are having another" discussion". We shall see who wins this one. So far she has been kind to me for most of Scarby- It will take a lot of convincing to get her to give us a good day or 3 on Memorial weekend. I am doing my best! It does take a lot of energy! Getting out my BIG staff this weekend!
sure hope the rain holds off till later, just checked in at the super 8 with the beautiful sexy Taarna the Ice Queen. in room 214
So sick of wet weather...I'm going tomorrow no matter what.

Capt Marga
At least 3 of us will have parasols or umbrellas with us, so maybe those will ward off the rain ::)
Weather on the news said 50% chance of widely scattered thunderstorms but if you did get hit it's only going to be a downpour of about 10 to 15 minutes, then stop.... really doesn't sound too bad and the temp is forecast to be only 82 degrees. Sounds like heaven if any of you were at Celtic Christmas at TRF during 2007. Tomorrow to faire and weather be damned! We shall have a grand time anyway!
Taarna
Queen B, let the Good Mother know that this is the first trip for us Bayou Scoundrels to your fine faire and that at least one day of good weather would go a long way towards return trips.
Guess I'll be packing my parasol too, just in case.
Well me and the Pink Pirate are going to be back tomorrow. I am putting extra plastic bags in my pouches. Quizzik needs to be protected from the wet stuff. Same meet up times and places?
We are leaving now, for one last wonderful adventure to Scarby 2009. Start the countdown to 2010..........
