Title: Opening Weekend July 11-12th
Post by: SarviaRose on April 30, 2009, 08:48:30 PM
So who is all coming for opening weekend?

I will be flying back from AZ to go to. I know some of the Bayou Scoundrels will be attending and I think Goody and Lady Renee will be there also.

A wonderful faire with lots to do.  Lord Stephen and I will be there on the Sunday.  Would enjoy meeting you.

And of course, can't wait to see wildthingjew and Miss Katie Scarlet.  And a surprise (to me, I didn't know) visit from my sister Ette, Sarvia!

I will set up the meet and greet time and location as it gets closer.  Can't wait to see RF forum members, hope you will come to the meet and greet for a chat and photos.

Dear Renee,

Fear not, I was not offended, I'm so glad you and your dear Stephen (Steven?) will be joining the crew in the garden.

Are you going to Janesville?  Unfortunately, I will be there only on Saturday, as I have arranged to spend Sunday with Janet the dessert goddess at her house sewing underwear like madwomen.  That is, if the people I'm crashing with confirm that we're still on, else don't know What I'll be doing.

I will be at Janesville as well. And like Dayna, I work at the faire. I won't be there every day like Dayna, but should be there at least one day of most weekends. I'm the Guilde of St. Lawrence--and I'm the very very short (just under five feet tall) brunette, pale white complexioned, middle-aged woman who smiles a lot and at some points has a lot of silver hair at her part if she's between dyejobs. (smile) I should be at faire on opening weekend but I'm not sure yet which day or days.

A small representative of the Bayou Scoundrels will be there for opening weekend: Capt. Sin, Willa Swallow, Anita Goodman and, of course, Sarvia Rose.  We will be camping at Illinois Beach State Park.  We looked at Happy Acres, but it was a bit pricey for us.  It's going to be an expensive trip for us, so we're having to cut whatever corners we can.

On that note, if anyone can help us out with obtaining some discount tickets, we'd be much obliged.

Will there be 3 Ettes or Ettes in Training there opening weekend?  Me, Sarvia, and I think Willa Swallow?  Am I correct?  Are there more?  If there's at least 3, then it's an Ette invasion.

We live in Western IL, about 3 hours from Bristol.  Today it's sunny, and the high will be 86 degrees.  Bristol in July can be comfortable, hot but doable, or blistering, sweltering with the medical staff not having enough room to put everyone who's been dropped by the heat.

But if you are from the south, you probably either will be used to this kind of temp, and you won't think it's too hot the way the rest of us do!

Yeah here in N.W. Arkansas too Willa. Bristol CAN be THICK with humidity. The mutant mosquitoes are worse up there. lol
I agree with Ladye Renee it can be Very comfortable. There's almost always some kind of breezy, there are several areas with Misters to cool off at, and plenty of Shade .
I wish I could hitch a ride with you but money's a bit tight for me.  :(

Please be aware that for the small fee of $5 you can be a guest in the Friends of Faire garden for the weekend, and have access to all the cold water and gatorade you want, as well as a place to stow your stuff and watch the world go by.

Lady Renee, wil you be setting us up with a meet n greet at the pub?

Since I have set up the Meet & Greets in years past, I am happy to do so again.  If anyone else wants to arrange it, that will be fine with me, too.  I don't mind passing the hat to someone else, it's just that no one else has ever wanted to do it.  But if you want to now, just let me know.

Having said that, if I still end up arranging them, I would like to try a different tactic to see if we can get more members to show up.  I thought it might be a good idea to see when the weekend schedule has been posted, then try to find a time that isn't in the middle of a show that most people want to see.  So, instead of saying, we meet by the Pub on both days at such and such a time, it might be a different time, depending on what the show schedule is.  And maybe meet at a different pub, just before a show, which will give everyone enough time to meet, take pictures, and then those who want to can sit down to the show as a group.

So we'll see what happens with all this.  But if anyone has a better idea or wants to arrange it, let me know!   ;D

Would someone do me a big favor and take several pictures (inside and out if possible) of the "bag game" building that is in between the Black Swan and Land of Kush?  It used to be my grandparents' shop.  If someone could get backside pics that would be awesome, too.  Thank you! :-*

I will try and get pics if I can for ya. I am going to try and make it. My plans have been to all along, but in the morning this Friday the day before our son goes in for oral surgery to have all 4 wisdom teeth pulled. What a way to celebrate the end of his 21st bday from Monday, huh. So, I should be there unless he has some complications and I need to stay home. But, it all should go well. He will be totally out for the procedure. So, wish him well. Hopefully see everyone at Bristol.

OK, Clan M'Crack members and pets.  Please identify yourselves here, and we'll try to meet up at Bristol.

I'm a pet.  There is an RF Meet & Greet at 2 p.m. on both days at the Pig & Whistle Pub.  Let's see if we can get Laird the picture he requests.  I'll be there on Sunday only, so if everyone could make it on Sunday, then we can all be in the picture.  If not, then the next best thing is 2 pictures, one from Saturday and the other from Sunday.

In any case, I think the most likely place to get everyone together is at the Meet & Greet.

See you in 2 days.  Huzzah!

Laird, I ran all around Bristol and asked everyone I spoke to if they belong to Clan M'Crack.  I couldn't find anybody.  I asked people in the pub, in the lanes, at shows, in the Friends of Faire Garden.  If they were there, they didn't come to the Meet & Greet on Sunday (and Steve and I were there about an hour and a half waiting for early arrivals and/or late comers).  So there was 1 M'Crack pet in attendance - me!

Hail my friends,

Sorry I missed the meet n greet, but I got so busy talking with old friends I forgot both days. Even though I was reminded. But, last night I finished putting up my Bristol Renaissance Faire week 1 pictures from this past weekend 7/11 - 7/12/09. Was a nice time had by all. It was great to see many of my friends I have not seen since last season, as well as other performers. It was also a pleasure to meet several new people from the boards and other faires. And, our very own Bishop of York, from the Upper Wisconsin Faire made the journey down on Sunday as well. The weather was in the low 80's, but the humidity was only in the 40's, making it very comfortable. I wish all weekends were like this one. Anyway, the faire runs until labor Day, so there is plenty of time to stop down this summer. I may be at Silver Leaf in Michigan next weekend instead of Bristol, but then should be back after that. I will see as it gets later in the week. If anyone is going to be there, let me know.

In the meantime, if anyone is interested, just follow the link below to see the pictures. Then click on the appropriate link once there.

Great pictures!  If anyone got pictures of the joust can you post?  One of the guys ordered new colors (joust garb) and I was wondering if he got to wear them this weekend and how they looked on the horse.  Thanks!

This was my first visit to the Bristol Renaissance Faire, and I must say it was the most beautiful faire I have ever been to!  I had such a wonderful time.  I miss it already.
