Ms. Rani Zemirah plans on being there from Thursday night until Monday morning during All Hallows, so any one of those days will work for her/me!!! LOL I'll have to figure out my own garb, but I'm sure I can come up with something... fitting!
I will also have my renlet with me that weekend, so maybe I can get her to take one day away from the fall/fire fairy she's planning to garb this year. She's into the bits of GG I've let her see, so I bet I can get her into something!

I think it sounds like a fun idea for a day. Very unlikely I'll be in town, though Halloween is a blast at your faire, but I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with.

I plan to be there both days that weekend for a change - but in two different characters.

Oh hey, I was just in Ft. Worth for the Arts Fest a few weeks ago, and I saw a couple of artists who are clearly inspired by Steampunk, even though they claim to not know anything about the genre! Must be the Hundredth Monkey theory in action... I'll see if I can find the cards I kept and post their info.

There is so much media that is clearly sp inspired - even if it doesn't come out & say it - Golden Compass, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, the flying pirate ship in Stardust, to mention just a few - that it wouldn't surprise me if people take inspiration & run with it.
It's huge right now in so many places, and they have balls, receptions, art exhibits, costume parties, etc., that are dedicate to the genre, it's just still pretty much underground, and it helps to know folks who know folks!!! The net is a good source, but living in places like OK and TX might make it a bit harder to find events...

What, Texas & Oklahoma aren't bastions of forward thinking?! I'm shocked, shocked I tell you. We always end up on the hind teat of new movements - by the time we get it, it's being embraced by straights & old ladies - ooops, 'scuse me, that's me. I used to love Jules Verne - may have to hit 1/2 price book.

Sadly, I'm hugely unsuccessful whenever I attempt to do anything non-faire at Faire. I can hardly do a Halloween costume that isn't ren-related. Good luck, guys! Maybe I'll wear my trilobyte pin somewhere on my person that weekend!

I'm really getting into the steampunk look these days, but I've yet to put together my own outfit. I honestly don't know if I could do it without adding a bit of ren edge to my outfit. There have been some ren/steampunk costumes posted on the "works in progress" sewing thread.
I'm going to take All Hallow's Eve weekend and just run the heck out of it. Professor Snape will be out in full regalia as well as (crosses fingers) Mamma Gkika. This gives me a chance to have a garb change of scenery. Halloween was always my favorite holiday.
Queen Bonnie & I discussed having a Harry Potter invasion one day over the Halloween weekend, also, so - that might give some other garbing ideas. I'll get a HP thread in TRF at some point and we can get invasion days settled.
