Where do you ladies find the long strands of pearls ? I've tried searching and have only found the short ones. I'm trying to complete my noble garb and finish my wench garb. Maybe one day it'll all come together. Any help with the pearls would be great.
Thanks in advance,
Lady Ellie
I got a long (48 inches, I believe) strand of pearls at kohl's. mind you, they're fake, but they weigh more than simple plastic ones, and they look good. they were about $20.
I picked uo a set at wal-mart last year, 100 inches of freshwater pearls, for $30
If you are crafty, I made another set, about 50 inches of graduated freshwater, for $15 from pearls I got from Fire Mountain Gems
Burlington Coat factory almost always has great long glass pearl under $20.... Most of the time under $10.
Most any department store will have long strands of glass pearls. My real pearls were too expensive to ever wear them to faire.
I've gotten the value packs of fake pearls at Michaels for about $3 and strung them onto fishing line for a few of my pearl strands. They've worked well for me.
I have found several at yard sales and street markets. :)
Plastic pearls are available pretty inexpensively through any craft retailer, I believe. Glass pearls can be found as well, but are more costly and heavier. If you're using glass, you should use a more durable wire (tiger tail or something similar) to string them on, not clear fishing wire-type cording or cotton string (unless you knot between each pearl). Be sure to also use a good quality crimp bead or other method of closing the strand so that you don't end up standing in a sea of loose pearls when you're at faire. If you are ultimately unable to find the length and/or pearl type you need, please do shoot me a PM. I make glass pearl strands in any length.
even try in the little girls dress up section there is always some fun beads there too
