I've been watching her website and blog, waiting for news of the release, but so far, nothing! I think they first thought it would be released in mid-March, then late April.... I was reading her listserv for a while but haven't had time in a few weeks. Has anyone heard anything?
I know, I am waiting along with you and have not yet heard of a new publish date. I know she had drama in her real life, so hopefully we will see these soon.
I can recommend Tudor Tailor or Reconstructing History's patterns if you need some to work from.

Have you checked her blogspot??? Don't know if there is any more current info on there, but worth checking. Plus more the more Margo stuff the better.
Hello - I'm Doug Gordon, Margo's business partner, and shipping guy for Historic Costume Patterns, a.k.a. Margo's Patterns. I ran across your conversation while surfing this evening, and given your timely questions on the subject, I thought I'd drop in to give you a quick update.
I cannot give a definitive date at the moment, but we're really close. The pattern drafting, the part that's been giving us the worst headache, is more or less complete, and I'm hoping to send that off to the printer in the next few days. That leaves the manual, and Margo is working furiously on getting that done. Our current back-of-the-envelope figure is about a month, but we're not quite ready to announce a specific date - we've burned ourselves too many times on that one when life intervened.
In the next week or so, we're hoping to launch a totally revamped website, and shortly thereafter, when we are a little firmer in our estimated time, we will announce it there, and begin to take pre-orders. I'm sorry I can't be any more specific than this, but we're working our hardest, and want to get it out to everyone just as soon as possible. Keep an eye on the website, or any of the other places mentioned in the thread - I'm sure we'll shout it from the rooftops as soon as we can.

Thanks for the update Doug! We know you are doing your best to bring us a quality product and that it will be worth the wait, but we just can't help wanting it NOW! lol
Huzzah! Doug, thank you so much for dropping in to give us that news! Best of luck with all that's going on, and thanks for taking the time to keep us posted. :)
I too will be anxiously awaiting a new Tudor ensemble pattern from Margo. Her patterns are the best I have come across for garb for men and women with instructions and research that I deem priceless.
Patterns from Margo are worth waiting for despite their price tags. I have several Tudor commissions coming up in 2010 that will require better instructions than what RECONSTRUCTING HISTORY provides with their Tudor Woman's pattern.
Any chance of a Gabled Hood pattern with this???
IIRC both gabled and french hood patterns are to be included.
Lady Kathleen is jumping up and down with glee after reading about a H/A Gabled Hood pattern being included. :)
I hope the patterns are for men as well. Margo does wonders for men's garb too.
Both the festivals in Muskogee, OK and Waxahachie, TX are set in the Tudor periods more than Elizabethan. Though I saw a variety of eras blended in garb at both Festivals.
You know she did a gabled hood blog entry, right? Click here (http://onetoughcostumer.blogspot.com/2009/04/nobodys-perfect.html).
Also, in the Free Patterns from Historic Royal Palaces thread, I think the link included instructions for a gable hood (for children).
Hi, this is Doug Gordon from Historic Costume Patterns again. I'm not sure how commercial I'm allowed to get in this particular forum, so I've made a more complete announcement over in the Merchants sub-forum, but since we had discussed this news a few weeks back here, I thought I'd also give an update here as well.
Historic Costume Patterns is happy to announce that we are now taking pre-orders on our new Tudor Lady's Wardrobe pattern. We expect to begin delivering the pattern by mid-July. To those asking what the status of this new project was, I invite you to our newly revamped website at margospatterns.com, and check out our new offering. I hope you will be pleased by what you see! Thanks so much!

Thank you so much, Doug!! I just pre-ordered the Tudor ensemble package.
Now what we will be excited about is an ensemble for the Men's Ensemble to go with the Women's.
The Men's version is certainly next on our agenda. :)

I just preordered mine as well! I agree too, what makes Margo's pattern so wonderful is the manual they come with. Very comprehensive for the novice seamstress. Can't wait to get it!!!!
Can't wait to tell Milord I've ordered myself an early birthday present (which will then become a late birthday present, with the ship date!). Mwa-ha-ha-ha-ha!!!
I pre-ordered mine this morning as well. Yay!
So... shipping soon, maybe? Hopefully?
Anyone heard anything? ??? ;D
I have not heard anything either, gem. I pre-ordered mine in early June as well. I hope soon too.
The website estimates the end of the month for shipping, which is in two days. While I really, really want the Tudor in my hands, I can wait a little longer for the last minute details.
My guess is that there was a huge response from the numbers of pre-orders, that getting them printed delayed things a bit. From what I hear from friends who have met her, Margo is a very nice woman. Her patterns sell well because they are sized from a 2 to 30.
I check the mailbox everyday. It's not so much the pattern package, well the Gabled Hood pattern I am stoked about; but the Instruction Booklet that is the real treasure! I have resisted making a Gabled for lack of a good pattern for one. Damn if I can follow the graph from the TUDOR TAILOR to make one the correct size.
Has anyone heard anything yet? I'm chomping at the bit for this one!
Baroness Doune emailed me saying that Margo Anderson was still working on the Instruction booklet. So it might still be a while. Apparently Margo was one of the instructors at the more recent Costume College. Though the website mentioned July delivery.

I was with Margo this past weekend while at Costume College and she said you all should be getting your patterns soon, she is still going through the last of her editing!!!

That is good to know. I pre-ordered my pattern in the earlier part of June. I suppose I can wait a few more weeks.
I was just about to post a "what's the word on the pattern" when I thought...hm, maybe I should check the website first. So here's the good word, straight from the horse's mouth:
"Sept 12
The wait for the Tudor Lady's Pattern is just about over. The manual text is done, and is now being edited by a fresh set of eyes and once the proofreading is complete, the manual will be ready to go. Everything is in place, our printer is standing by, and we expect to begin shipping during the next week.
We'd like to apologize to each and every one of you whose orders have been delayed, and we thank you for your extreme patience. It has been several years since Margo has written an entirely new manual, and we severely underestimated the magnitude of the task. We'll definitely take measures to not be so premature in taking preorders in the future, and will look to improve our process to bring future projects to you in much shorter order."
As with the manuals that come with Margo's patterns, this one had to be correct in every way. I am a patient person to wait a while longer for something that will prove essential.
Doing Tudor right takes a lot of knowledge. I am looking forward to making a Gabled Hood correctly. That is the main reason I pre-ordered the package in the first place back in early June. Following the directions in the TUDOR TAILOR was too confusing.

Um, I hate to say it, but I find that to be the case all too often with that book. Sigh.
I wonder why that is? The only thing I have made from it so far worked perfectly.
I feel the same way. I thought it was just novice sewing me. You can imagine my confusion when I was trying to make the undersleeves! They were mistakenly omitted from the book, although on the website (which I didn't know). No matter...I still love having The Tudor Tailor on my bookshelf. I still think it's a great resource.
Hello folks, this is Doug Gordon of Historic Costume Patterns once again!
I just wanted to drop in to say, Margo's Tudor Lady's Wardrobe pattern is now complete, and we have begun shipping. We hope to have all pre-orders cleared out within a week's time.
As NicoleBridget kindly re-posted from our website, we're chagrined that the process took us so long, and apologize to all of our customers who pre-ordered. But the wait is over now, and we think everyone will be happy with the result. The manual ended up longer than our previous record holder (the Elizabethan Men's), so that's what took so long to complete. As with all of our manuals, every step is detailed and diagramed, so we think costumers will find the directions easy to follow. We are definitely looking forward to seeing what our customers can do with our pattern! Now Margo will have some well-deserved rest before we turn our attention to the next project. No promises on how quick we can get that one out the door though! :)
There's never any rest for the wicked, Doug!!
Now what we need is a great Tudor Men's ensemble to go with the Women's.
That is the plan. I just won't promise exactly how long it will take. :)
Margo is the Goddess of patterns on the scale that she does patterns. Give her my congratulations on a job well done. The gown I wear in my Profile photo is made from her pattern as Mary, Queen of Scots.
After her well-deserved rest, perhaps the Venetian???
Mine came in the mail today! I dread saying it, but I'm excited for the end of the current season so that I can start my first Tudor gown... :)
I could *squee* I'm so excited. Alright, I'll do it.... *squeeeeeeeee!*
Mine's here, too!! HUZZAH!!
But I'm *forcing* myself to finish the binding on my corset before I look at it. :o
Unilady - Margo says a Venetian is definitely on her list, sometime after we get the Tudor Men's done.
Everyone - all pre-orders have now shipped, so if you've ordered the Tudor Lady's pattern, it is on its way. From here on out, all orders will be shipped immediately.
Margo and I are looking forward to seeing the results of our customer's efforts using the Tudor Lady's pattern!

Mine came this afternoon!! HUZZAH!!! The instruction Booklet is in a large 3 ring binder with the Elizabethan ensembles. Can't wait for the Tudor Men's Ensemble package. Don't take too long in getting that one out.
I will be making the Gabled Hood First!!!
So, has this pattern made into homes yet? And if so, has anyone made the dress?
Oh yeah, I've had mine for a couple of months. I haven't started yet bc of a huge home remodel going on right now. That means I have no sewing area until it's done *sniffle*
I have the pattern and the fabric - both are sitting in the middle of my sewing area. I'm currently reading through the pattern, and I hope to get started in the next few weeks. I'll admit, I'm a little intimidated--only because I want to get the fit just right.

That's what's stopping me, too. My last early Tudor project came to a screeching halt last summer because of fit problems, and I have weird measurements (my shoulder measurement is so small it's off Margo's chart, but I'm also very curvy). My plan is to have Milord do another full set of measurements to start, and then ask for measurement/sizing advice on the Yahoo group. I have a couple of projects (my corset, some mundane things, the Gimli tunic, and, oh yeah, my new book ::)) to take care of first, but I hope to tackle it this spring.
Maybe we should have a sew-along for this?
