Title: Octo gathering
Post by: LadyHawkeontheHill on May 27, 2009, 10:17:47 AM
Where is my scribe? He must be on vacation...anyway, a date has been set for the 8th Castleteer gathering. The powers that be have convened and a date of November 7th has been set aside at the castle for us. Mark your calendars. The Castle is booked and busy until then, so, it will most likely be "Castleteer weather" at that time... :D

Our captain and others have requested that we do the food a little differently this time. We were hoping to set up in the "lobby" area so we can graze all night long. Some are talking of bringing a turkey, roasted chicken and smoked beef. We will have another sumptuous feast and plenty of it!

Oops, I failed to mention that Humphrey has also set aside that Friday the 6th for those who wish to arrive early and stay at the castle that night as well.

*sad face*

Looking at my schedule, I'll only be able to make it up to the Gathering on Saturday night.  I have to work 'til 5 that evening, and I'll leave straight from there and make a mad dash to the Castle (that will get me there by 7 or 8).

Unless, of course, I get a M-F type job like I've been aiming for, so keep your fingers crossed for me!

Lady Whitney is working to convince my rogue and I to attend a gathering. So if it is all well with you, we will try to attend. We might even bring our captain along.
I do ask what we can expect at this as I have not been able to attend one prior to this.

I can assure all that it will be my 45th birthday on the 6th of November, Yet as true as I am to my Castle I shall attend. You may add myself and my peasant Samantha

we hope that Lady Whitney can persuade thee and thy rogue to attend.
as far as the "Castleteer Gather'ns" go, well many good folk gather at "Loveland Castle". enjoy each others company, play some games, but mostly it is the company that me Belle and me go for. now it is BYOD(drink). most everyone where there Garb. most bring some food stuffs to munch on (sometimes we have "The Ultimate Cauldron of Pot Luck" which everyone throws something in and our good Peter always makes it just right with his season'ins. but this come'n "Gather'n" in Nov., we will for-go the POT LUCK, and everyone is to bring just some good foods to eat). "The Knights of the Golden Trail" have been so kind in the past for lett'n us enjoy there "Castle", and we hopes that there not be a reason in the future that they would need to stop.
all in all, it is like a mini ren fest, without shows, vendors and alot of walk'n, but now the best part of a ren fest is still present, "THE RENNIES".  ;D

to become a "Castleteer", our Captain humphrey has set down the guidelines, which are-
#1 - you must spend one overnight at "Loveland Castle",
#2 - you must make a new friend,
#3 - you must laugh some time dur'n the even'n.
that is all there is to it. there be an unspoken golden rule, that was only verbaliz'd once, after the first "Gather'n" several years ago. and it is-  "What Happens at the Castle, stays at the Castle!"

it may be a couple of months off, but it is never to early to plan to attend a "Castleteer Gather'n".
and of course there will be many toast to our Sir Samual, for his natal day.  ;)
we's hope for many new friends to attend,
your servants,
i be the Old Tinker and his Belle...

Better to be safe then sorry!
Sweetie just go down and kidnap him or have Jinx do it for you. :P Tie him up and blindfold him and bring him to the castle.

hey all, i hope everyone is doing well.

here is what i have this day, first entertainment. Misplaced Laces will be performing. Drunk and Sailor is coming as long as it is logistically reasonable for them. Minstrel  Woode will let me know soon if they are coming. and depending on the weather, your very own KOGT will take the stage also. if all goes well, a fairly decent line up really.

next my guesses on kogt food offerings, sir jeff and lady jodi will bring their strange, but tasty, meatballs, sir paul will bring meatloafs, sir fred wont bring anything cuz he doesnt understand the concept of "potluck", sir chuck and lady laura will post their own offerings. i am making burgers and chili friday night and will have cheese ravioli for saturday.

;D  I think Lady E will be the one bringing the Nutella cookies, it was just my idea.  The original plan was for me to go to her house and join her in the making, but I no longer have a car, and will be riding up with Katie McBrewer, so I can leave those to her, if she doesn't mind.  Tentatively, if Newby manages to procure transportation, we may run out and get some fresh fruits and veggies and, if I have anything to do with it, honey, because it goes -really- well with bread.  xD

I'm basically out of commission for anything until at least March, by my calculations, unless I can manage to get a ride from other people.  My engine seized up on my way to work the other day, and it would cost more than the car did to fix it.  D:  I will soon be saying "hello" to public transportation.  xD

Hey Tink, I think you've got me on the list twice, as both Whits_End or Lady Whitney.  Either way is fine (or as Lady Sersha.)  I just wanted to let you know in case you were taking a count.

Also, I'd like to add my rogue to the list.  Some of you know him as Spaz, some know him as Joshua.  Either way, I'm excited to show him the castle!  And since he's a chef, he'll figure out something to bring.  I just don't know what yet.

Castleteers at Loveland.
Pretty girls are flirting by the fire
They all look like gently dancing flowers
We will warm ourselves with food and friendship

As the stories grow from Chateau delaRoche

Stars shine down on Loveland
Turrets fill with laughter as we play
We will drink a health to one another
We will fill our memories with these moments

For we may or might not meet here again

Many of us will be leaving Saturday night, and staying at the Comfort Inn on Fields-Ertel Rd. Just remember, Sir Fred has promised to kick anyone's arse who tries to leave drunk and drive.

Oh, I was being quite serious about it actually. We have to drive back to Kentucky that night.  :o

hey all, i got news, that you will hear more about next week, but here is a little primer.

symmes township just now shut down our haunted tours.  they called it a "festival" and sited that we can not do festivals. they sent the health dept, the fire marshal, the building inspectors.....even the sewage dept down this morning to inspect everything. now of course they found no violations of any kind, but because one of our knights posted an ad in the paper calling it a "haunted house" instead of a "haunted tour" the township shut us down. i am sure most of you have heard how the township says we have to have a sprinkler system to have a haunted house. lololol yup, we really need a sprinkler system.  i keep telling people that if the castle catches fire we are all dead anyway. think about it, the surface of the earth will have to reach 7000 degrees for that rock to catch fire, if it does a sprinkler wont save any one lololol   oh well.   how this affects us is simple, the castle is out its biggest fund raiser and i have to run down to the castle to fill out a couple contracts for the castleteers, to make it legally a private party and out of the townships jurisdiction.

To any of the Castleteers or your friends who live in Symmes Township; go to the board meetings and ask what their problem is ith the castle. They are definetely anti castle, and we the people need to know exactly why. I bet they don't hit schools or anyone else this way. If you vote in Symmes Township, vote them OUT!!!!!!
Title: Re: Octo gathering
Post by: Sir Samuel on October 30, 2009, 09:39:35 PM
The only thing I officially know, is the Symmes Twp. people need to know and understand the greed and selfishness the twp. has for its officers. They are nothing more than a few MONEY HUNGRY politicians looking to gain some financial reward by trying (tho how feeble the attempt) to shut down and or steal illegally of course our wonderous castle which Harry Built for us Knights to use as a centeral base for an organization to teach others what he has taught so many of us already. That through steady hard labor and trust in God,  you can gain the worlds respect.

HUZZAH, only a few days until we all "Gather". just a couple things, please.
Draconus, we's have they friends list'd for the "Gather'n".
.
first, looks to be that our group is large, we need more of you to post what your bring'n as far as food stuffs. with 80+ peoples come'n, we's gonna need plenty of chow.
.
second, me Belle and me will as always pay $3.00 for each of us, for the "TOUR". with the knights have'n troubles with have'n there haunted tours,
mayhaps we all can help in a little way and each of us pay for our "TOUR", and the knights can collect a little something,   ;) .
.
thank you all,
Tink & Belle...

Good Papa,

Leave it to you to always think of others.. I think giving a little something for the tour is a brilliant idea - course to those who can. The Knights are always so welcoming and gracious to accept us into their castle.. and we all know we can be a rowdy bunch.  ;D

Counting down the days - the DAYS! Wewt! And lining my cloak.. I have a feeling its going to be cold.

Things are looking good for our attendance this weekend. That being said...what to bring? In addition to us bringing some sort of snack-style, finger food, I saw that Bugsey is bringing the hot cocoa. I'll shall pick up ye ol' bottle o' Rumplemintz. A good warmer-upper on cold nights around a fire and, a good addition to a cup of cocoa. (I'll believe the beverage is referred to as a Dirty Girl Scout). In this case, I would welcome a "ren-name" for the aforementioned beverage. Any comical suggestions?

Well, that was pretty darn GREAT!! I think my favorite thing was watching Drunk & Sailor sing whilst a bevy of shooting stars performed above and behind them! The weather was perfect, the attendees were numerous (close to 70) and the laughing was contagious!!! Oh, and we outdid ourselves on the food once again, delicious and PLENTY!

Awesome weekend. Made some new friends, caught up with some old ones. Great food, great company, great weather. Quite possibly made an weed puller of myself. (stories are still surfacing) All in all, a success! Thank you to all for your efforts in putting together a most excellent event. Until March. Hazzah!

a most splend'id time was had by me Belle and me. as we have said in the past, do's seem the "Gather'ns" keep gett'n better and better. many many new "Castleteers"(those that spent the night in the "Castle"). the weather was perfect (no wet feets). and then there was also the great performances by "Drunk and Sailor " and "Misplaced Laces", twas shows that would and could not be seen anywhere but the "Castle", so many laughs.
our hats off to our "Captain humphrey" for offer'n one of his "weekends" per year, for the "Castleteers". and to the KOGT, for there attendance and participation.
me Belle and me had a excellent time, so much so that we even stay'd past 7AM Sunday morn, and was able to help other with good strong hot bean juice.
me's sure now that our "Captian" has already set the date for the next "Gather'n", we shall have topics of the March "Gather'n" very soooon.....
at all's service,
Tink and his Belle...

that is just excellent news our Ren Daught. me hopes the weather is as good as this last "Gather'n", no wet feets (me knows, me knows, me's keep say'n that "NO WET FEETS", but this is one of things that makes be'n comfortable at the "Castle" to very comfortable at the "Castle").
me's will have to say that we's did not have any of LH'chus magical bean juice.
sooon that count down will start again for the next "Gather'n".
tis been a good weekend past, mark it as a total sucsess.
be well all,

Looks like a great time was had by all, I'm so sorry we missed it, and our Castleteer Family.

Circumstances beyond our control, kept us from attending...
...as a matter of fact we have missed a lot this year, we only attended ORF once this past year, this was the only time that has happened since 1992.  However, Family comes first.

I look forward to the next one...

As promised. I didn't take too many pics but, here's what I found (in chronological order). Notice how my face gets more red as the night progresses. I can only assume I couldn't balance the camera AND point it at myself by the time I took pics of Bugsey and Faye. I sure this had NOTHING to do with the weather!  ;D

It would be nice to go to CRF but as it be, I am again laid off. So finances would not allow it. Yet I do have family in L'ville all over actually and seeing Dr. Kaboom would be nice. Perhaps I will see how that would go over with some others.

The Doktor Kaboom show is the Science Center's yearly Fundraiser and he's the MC... it's $125 per person or $200 per couple.
