Title: Free Patterns (for kids) from Historic Royal Palaces of England
Post by: gem on May 27, 2009, 08:32:33 PM
I had never seen these before, so I'm betting some of you haven't either!  Patterns for a girl's Tudor kirtle, a boy's Tudor gown, and boys' and girls' headwear:

http://www.hrp.org.uk/HamptonCourtPalace/stories/palacehighlights/HenryVIIIheadsandhearts/Makeakirtle.aspx

They're .pdf files with files for instructions, but so far they look promising, particularly in a world so bereft of H/A kid's patterns!

Excellent.  I've downloaded those and stashed them away, and Ill pass the info on to another group I belong to...

I also downloaded the paper hat print-outs.  I thought they might be fun to do as party hats, or may even make a basis for real ones, with a bit of jiggery-pokery!

Great pattern! Thanks  for the link Gem! I started work on it yesterday for my seven year old. I know it says it's for 9-10 year olds but they must be small. Granted my sweetie is tall for her age, but I'm already going to have to tweak it. The arm hole was not big enough to wear with her chemise too. I think I'll do this by extending the strap because it's not quite to her waist either. Otherwise it's going well. I think I'm going to split the skirt in the front for more of an Irish look that way she will stay cooler. Our faire can get so hot and the kids love to run around.

If you go up one level on that website there are a couple of other patterns as well. A boys Tudor and a hat...
