what is this vest type garment she is wearing called? does anyone know where I can get something like this?
It's a bodice. The shoulder straps are just slumped down off her shoulders. Pendragon makes leather bodices like that.

Looks like Pendragon's tooled Celtic bodice. Just roll over the drawing to see a photo of the actual garment
As was written above, it is a Pendragon bodice. I have the same one.

Yup, a Pendragon bodice. You can't mistake them, I think nearly everyone in the RenFaire community recognizes a Pendragon immediately. They're so lovely
..........as well as expensive. But then, that is what makes Pendragon Bodices stand out from the rest. They are lovely. I saw one with two dragons on it. I am tempted to get one myself. At least the leather parts and then tool the rest of the bodice myself.
I agree, Lady K, that they are expensive. But they last and last and still look brand new. What you suggested is a good way to save money. And if anyone can make the bodice parts, you can! And it will look beautiful. :D
Compared to a lot of the leather stuff I've seen, I was actually surprised that it wasn't quite a bit more expensive. But there's no getting around it - leather hurts the wallet. Sure is a nice-looking piece though.
thank you all so much!!!!! really i can't tell you how happy i am, i'm going to get one. they are expensive but .beautiful.
If you are near any of the faires that Pendragon works, I'd suggest that you go in person. They are at Bristol, and I went back to them several weeks before purchasing a bodice, looking at different styles, etc. (I now have 3).
They were fantastic to work with. They spent over 1 1/2 hours with me when I actually went in to buy the first one. Trying on different sizes, lacing me up and then back out. And since I chose a back lacing bodice, they even took the time to show Steve the proper way to lace, as well as how I should be "fluffing" while he was lacing.
Their customer service is wonderful. And they are some of the most comfortable bodices I've ever worn. One hint, they tend to run short waisted. I ended up getting a Tall, even though I'm not really tall in stature and don't usually buy long waisted tops. Very important to send the correct measurements, have someone else take them, if you're ordering by mail without trying on. But I'd suggest if there's any way to try it on, to do so.
Post pictures when you get it. I'm sure you'll be thrilled with it, as everyone else I know is!
Pendragon is at Bristol? Now I really have to go this year. I hate buying online and am in desperate need of a better bodice.
Yes, Pendragon has a booth at Bristol and has a huge selection in a variety of sizes.
