I am need of some Rennie help and there's no better place to ask my odd questions. A good friend of mine is turning 30 in November of this year, while TRF is in full swing. Well said friend wants to have some friends meet at faire for her birthday, camp, celebrate and have a good weekend at faire. (One weekend is all the family is gonna be able to pull off this faire season).
Now my first and current issue is on the inventions. Do I make or buy the invites? I know faire is a long ways off but I wanted to give people some time to make arrangements save money and what not. The birthday girl has a short list of people she wants to invite to partake in faire with us and I was going to send inventions soon and then again closer to faire.
I know I'll have more questions as time goes on and I move along in my planning. Any and all information is greatly appreciated, thank you everyone for all your help.
:D
If you have the time I'd say make the invite. Rennies appreciate handcrafted things.
The only problem I have found with inviting early is reminding the absent minded folks.
I am planing on sending out the invites again closer to the faire weekend kind of as a reminder.
Hand made when closer, store bought now to get them thinking and planning
*I like my invites delivered along with a rum bottle...*
One now and then again closer is how I do it. The first time I did this, I did it on parchment looking paper and chose a caligraphy font and did it on the computer, rolled it up and tied it up with a piece of leather. If this short list is close by, hand deliver, if not there are mailing tubes at the post office that you can send them out in. I do it by email these days.
'Save the Date!' cards, in ren style of course and then a full invite closer to the festivities. I love RenRobin's idea of using mailing tubes for the rolled invites. ;D
Thank you everyone! Such great ideas!
I turn 30 Thanksgiving weekend, which is during faire season. However, I will not be there for it :/ Actually, my birthday falls on Thanksgiving this year.. I get to be thankful for turning 30, lol!
If economizing matters at all, I would just send save the date emails asap and save up the craftiness and expense for hand made invites to send out 6 weeks out. A bit like a wedding really, since the expense and effort from a guest to attend can be in a similar range ...
