Sir Jim
I'm so excited about this! I've watch too many youtubes of them, get to hear them live, yay!!
Albannach are absolutely amazing ... I encourage anyone who likes drums and/or pipes to get there to see them. =)
I've heard so many great things about this group and want to check them out! I'm definitely looking into attending that weekend.
I saw them last season at FLARF! Don't miss this group. Absolutely phenomenal live!
Yes go see them. They are at the Kentucky Ren Fest the next two weekends.
You guys are definitely in for a real treat cause Albannach is such an awesome group.
Yea, I am also hoping to see them at OHRF... Saw them for the first time this last weekend and was completely FLOORED! Seeing them on youtube definitely does not do them justice... Live is intense!!! ;D

You said it Lucy, these guys ROCK!
We seen them last year at Maryland Ren Faire, WOW, don't miss them.
I have somehow managed to miss them EVERY time they've been at KHRF. I am definitely going to make it up to ORF to see them! As amazing as they are in audio form, I can't imagine how wonderful it will be to see them live! ;D
We have had the pleasure of seeing them as well. Their music (IMHO) does not translate to CD with the same power and scope as it does live. We can't wait to come down to visit and I now know when we are going.
Albannach are stunning. I saw them at KHRF and was blown away. I wish I could make it up to ORF this year, but South Carolina is a loooooong drive from Ohio for a college girl without a car!
According to their website, Albannach is only at the OH Renfest on Sept. 12 & 13.
Guess when I plan to be at ORF???
We cannot make the invasion weekend, Curtro & I, sadly.
Anyone else got the Albannach jones??
Noe I know when to go... I also, cannot make the Rennvasion. So I, Aunty Lou, will be attending the ORF Sept. 12 & 13...
Wow! Offering an encore in the Midwest and just so happens I'm currently free on that weekend.
I think thats a sign!
Definitely Albannach Jonesin', I will indeed be there that weekend also.
Aw man I hope I can make that weekend!
Just checked the Albannach website and their schedule says they are also at ORF on Labor Day! :)
07 September Ohio Renaissance Festival Harveysburg, OH, USA
12 - 13 September Ohio Renaissance Festival Harveysburg, OH, USA
I had heard a rumor they might be there on two weekends so I checked their site.
Just found out that I'll be there that whole weekend! yay!!!
I had a different take on it after I saw them at KY. They only had one piper, and 5 or 6 drummers. Is that normal for them? It's like the pipes were an afterthought, and it was drowned out by all the relentless pounding. They're great at what they do, but I like it better when the bagpipes are the main ingredient of a bagpipe band.
Yeah Frog is the only piper. They mic him though usually. I love the setup they have. :)
Albannach describes themselves as a Drum Corp, of the type
which once accompanied the army into battle!!
You see, Syn? not a bagpipe band at all
much more primal
yeah

I'm still in awe. What a treat! I can't wait until next weekend.
Have to say that seeing Albannach was the highlight of the weekend! We were on the opposite side of the grounds when we heard the drums and caused a bit of a scene as Mistress Sarah in her courtly gown sprinted full wind across the maypole grounds and nearly took out a 3 year old passing the Aleing Knight! They were so exciting! Sarah is an instant fan. We will definately find a way to see them again!
That was me as well, Amy. I was over by the Pirate Ship waiting for the parade to start and I heard the drumming! I don't think I've ever ran that fast! Every faire employee knew exactly where I was headed too, as I heard "they've just started!" ;D
I heard them when the parade started. My director said "you hear the drums? That's Albannach." So off an on I heard them.... until I got closer to the Revelers stage. Poor Paladin. He was a wee bit spooked by all the persistant beating of the drums. But my goodness did hearing them make my blood sing. After the knighting ceremony I was able to sit and watch their entire show. What a good time. For a few minutes I was not the "Queen of England" I was just a girl watching a drum corp and thoroughly enjoying myself!! ;D
Who's going to be there the 13th?
Lady E - our plans are for Saturday we will be sad to have missed you.
My toes are tapping under the desk as I post....
We are packing up to head down for the weekend. Friends to see again or new ones to meet. Ale flowing, toes tapping, heart pounding....Can't wait!
I will be there Saturday. Missing you by only a day Lady Everclear :(
And Jamsie WILL be there this weekend!!!! (the long haired one). He wasn't there on Monday because of a flight issue or something ...
I know some people were curious!
Lady Lissame, I'll be sad to miss you dear - I don't know if I'll see you before you're wedding, but hopefully I will.
We have a small crew gathering so I won't be alone all day, lol. And it'll be good to meet more people from the forums. The only decision now . . . pirate, or noble garb? Lol . . .
Have a great weekend and don't forget to stop by and say hi to Ragna at "A Viking Wife" and sign the guestbook!! ;D
Cheers!
Ratman & Bobin
Announced earlier today: Albannach will be at ORF closing weekend!!!!! :)
SWEET! I was so bummed because I couldn't make it down there this weekend and thought I missed my chance to see them. I'm really excited now!
Albannach on closing weekend?? You wouldn't tease us would you m'lady?
That is fabulous!!
Everybody come! You won't regret it...
A blessing perhaps? We were extremely disappointed as we couldn't make it this past weekend. This is fantastic news!
I heard this as well from several friends. Including one who talked to the piper about it. I shall be there the 25th! I am unsure if we can afford both days though.....we may still try....
;D ;D ;D

I was wondering. That look on his face was priceless!!
The more I see of them, the more they grow on me.
*Happy Dance, Happy Dance, Happy Dance*
That has just sweetened the deal for me to ask for a day off, so I can see them both days closing weekend.
Dear Ragna ..... and whoever else I may have told the *almost* bad news to ...
