Got home with enough aches in my legs to remind me that I haven't walked that long in at least two years. But ya know, I seriously needed this ren fair. I felt more positive, more relaxed and more willing to play and flirt than I have in the past. Maybe this is a sign.
Anyways, for those of you I missed contacting this weekend, I'll try again next saturday. *can't miss me....look for the brown boots with a slight splash of yellow...or better yet, track down Charlotte and see if I've passed by at some point. :)*
So good seeing old friends, hopefully I'll make a few new ones, and thanks one and all for a glorious weekend, even if it rained like a maniac sunday. See you next saturday.
*btw, anyone have a good name for a scottish/english lord/privateer character? Sean made several suggestions, but I'm still at the semi nameless stage*
Share weekend stories!! :P This little squire is faire deprived!! :(
It was a great 1st weekend! Although I do miss being out there in the crowd! It was fun though! Next weekend will be even better! Come say hi at the Merch booth by the front gate. The main one.
My shop flooded when it rained today! Like truly flooded, had to sweep the water out with brooms.
But it was a good weekend, minus the rain and my pained feet.
Hello,
As a few of you noticed, I'm no longer at fish, but I am at Steak on a Stake about 20 feet away, and around a corner. So come visit, I'm still here.
My first weekend went fast, and I meet a cute boy today :) But I'm bad at talking to cute boys, so the girls at my booth are going to teach me lol.
While nothing particularly worth note happened this weekend, it was splendid being back. Saw lots of old friends who I'd sorely missed over the year and got a wondrous painting from Charlotte on Sunday. Captain Spleen seemed to enjoy it a lot...something about breathing... ;)
7 more and can't wait for the fun to really begin!
ONLY 7 more?
Why can't there be more?
Oh well, we shall take what we get.
There's always Santa Fe in September....;)
So wrap up of the weekend. Saw tons of people i havn't seen since closing last year....lots of hugs. Hung out most of the time with the old captain jack and a few of his co-horts. Came away with much lighter pockets and some nice trinkets. Saw one or two shows. Hmm think that is it.

True, but Santa Fe is only one weekend AND it's much closer (6 hrs drive) AND it's soooo much fun. Those of us who went last year just had a ball.
I've never been to the Santa Fe show, but make it out to Minnesota about every other year. Fantastic people and fantastic shows. And the weather is *usually* just about right.
I have never done MN but I'm really going to try to make it up there this year. It's supposed to be a magical place..... :D
Gotta admit It was wicked fun! I had a great time shouting and making a fool of myself over at the crystal stix booth. COME AND SEE ME!!! But I saw lots of people and even a few of the pictures on here were looking familiar this opening weekend. muahaha wonderful to see everyone!
For Delaney and I, it was a wondrous day Saturday. I was impressed with some of the new things that were in the various shops that we visited. I bought a great silver knobbed walking stick from the broom place over by the jousting arena. It was a good price for a very solid sturdy stick that helped my poor knees out on some of the steep inclines around faire. I am going to sand the bad black finish off of the wooden handle of the stick and substitute a deep red finish. My favorite color type. Lady Delaney purchased a black suede tudor tall hat from Excalibur leather. Those people sure are nice over there! She later bought a scarf to go around the brim of the hat and the folks at Excalibur leather sewed it onto the hat for her. That was very nice of them. Cheers to the folks at Excalibur leather.
We looked for Ginger, but couldn't find her. So, we will keep looking. We found Zoe..who sells pink lemonade now...sweet! And we talked with Mistress Charolotte, Sir Garath, Capt. Jack..and the other Capt. Jack...commiserated with Avan about his stolen hat... hat thieves burn in hell!!!!... Talked with the Professor...Talked with Tanda, although, I didn't recognize her...sorry, Tanda, I thought you looked lovely...There was Demetrius slaving away behind the Yokohama chicken machine...We saw Hey Aren't you with family, such a lovely family...Queen Tatiana introduced herself to us, yay! well met, Your Grace!...We saw Lady Remy and Spinanka, who walked by and barely got their picture taken...And, I bet we saw Capt. Spleen, very quickly....I saw Lily Fairy, but didn't have a chance to give her a favor, so I will keep looking. And, we saw Blushing in her new job of mistress of the journal shoppe. Those are nice journals in there. I will have to get one this year. We saw many other folks who I was grateful to see and talk with, if I have forgotten your name...please don't take offence, I will say HI to you on the other days that we are there. It was wonderful seeing everyone again, and you all have my best wishes! Oh, and Lady Delaney and I looked for hamsters...but saw none. Strange that....
Whew! That was not un-fun!
First and foremost, apologies to all who I failed to catch up to. I'm mostly runnin around with Elijah, and we move kinda slowly... except when we are running and screaming! Secondly, was quite happy to see those who I did see. I've missed you all.....well most..... ;) Of all the people I know, you all are definitely some of them. ;D
Changes to the site are always kinda weird for me. Like someone rearranging the furniture when you're not home. I went to stand under a favorite tree at morning jam, to find that tree missing. We loose a few to the beetles every year. :( (actually, it's prob'ly still there, just in chips). couple of shops gone, etc. (someone asked, "where are the drinking horns?" I spun around to point and said "they are right theeeeeeerrrrr.....uhhhh.....ummmmm..... bloody 'ell! Where ARE the drinking horns?") I'm finding that many of the new cast members are quite entertaining. Of special note are the magicians, and the new flippin jester (yellow & red, not red & yellow). I will note that the street cast seemed thinly spread, but those that are out are working HARD, have high energy, are entertaining as 'ell, and are hard to miss. The stages are PACKED. More stage acts listed in the program then there have been in several years. I do see this as a distinct improvement. I did not actually sit and watch any of them, but I will. There were several "lost" people who I missed a lot, and several new people I was impressed by, and several more who I thought we had lost, turned up in shops, or just hanging out, which made me happy. Many great new costumes.... Most notably, Charming's! HYY-sterical!!!
.... And I chastised a few people for deserting us here on the boards..... and asked them (in a finger pointing accusatory way) to come back. ;D
Hi Ginger. nice to see you. LOL!
The hardest & most painful thing about the day was getting out of the car in my driveway. So I will take a second to remind myself and everyone else, stretch hard & well before you get in your car and drive for 30-45 minutes and your sore muscles freeze up. It will make getting home and getting up on Monday less hurtful.
Something else I'd like to say.... If we see each other out there, and you want to have a relaxed, open minded, adult conversation about pro's and con's, the good and the bad, the highs & lows of the faire... I'm happy to chat. We can even tell funny stories. IF, on the other hand, you just want to rant, bash, whine, spew venom, make out like it's ALL F'd up and have nothing good to say. Please, save your breath. Just say Good Day and move on. Not that such thing happened to me this weekend, because it didn't, but I can see it coming.
All in all, a fine time was had by all. I enjoyed myself more than even I expected. :D
This was the first time ever being to the CO Faire, my youngest daughter moved out to CO from PA last Dec, so we planned a visit to her to be on opening weekend!
We really enjoyed the Faire....from the beauty of the grounds (& surrounding area!) to the great shoppes, to the acts, ( we were thrilled to meet up with Foolhearty, who also are at PA all season!) & Barely Balanced, enjoyed Puke & Snot, and Cast In Bronze. Met up with Albert's son at the Imaginarium ( sigh, how the years have flown, we remember him as a youngster, not the boss of his own shoppe!!!) Tired out sooner than I wished ( I have asthma, so I tuckered out around 4 PM)
Wish I could say I did see everything, I'll bet I missed quite a few shows, but I know we will make a trip out next year!!!
In the meantime, when August rolls around, I would be tickled pink if someone came into my shop at PARF & said " Huzzah from Colorado!!!"
Enjoy the rest of your season, & remember...."it's always Faire weather!!!"
Susan

Sunday morning was hard getting up! Doesn't help that my cat kept stepping on my face and waking me up before my alarm (those 20 minutes are important the 2nd day of faire!!!) And Monday morning was just one more reminder that I really need to invest in better shoes for faire. Blech. Doing a bit better now.
And hear, hear on the complaints and grievances department. I know people are upset about some things that happened this year, but I'd like to think of them as behind us. We're at the faire now and we're there to have fun so let's just do it!
And
Dress Your Dreams I hope you had a grand time at our festival! Thanks for visiting! :)
Zoe, it was good to see you, if only for a moment! But I'm glad to know now that your choice to "de-piratize" yourself was in fact your choice. I thought to myself, "Zoe looks different this year..." but then I realized later that you weren't all piratical, and I went "oooooooohh." That and I believe the haircolor is new this season.
Bah, I've got to get back out there on a weekend when I'm feeling less like death.
While I do not take issue with Zoe (use no contractions when speaking at faire)
who works at a pop booth we knowe
of complaints which were said
and are nowe laid to bed
I have but one still stuck before me...
No More Rain or Hail in-the-middle-of-faire Please!!!
Good grief!
Amen to the hail! But a little light shower here and there is kinda nice sometimes.
Jackie-
come often. the weirdness will wear off and much fun will ensue. You will begin to remember all the reasons you started before you became.... a walking mob scene. LOL! and I enjoy actually talking to you, which I don't think either of us have had time for...for several years.
I think I'll call you Capt Coolieo.... HA!
HUZZAH to whom ever found my fan. YEAH!!! ;D I was SO bummed out Saturday after getting back to the XTerra and finding it gone... hum foolish noble not paying enough attention to her garb and watching all the funny people not dressed in proper attire (faire attire that is) walking or about... or even those that were like the pirate girl in 3"+ stilletto heels (OUCH that had to hurt).
I will be re-united with my fan Saturday and will insist on a better holding device (Not some piece of chain made in China)
I will be in my Queen Katherine Parr dress and French Hood and I am SO looking forward to Saturday already. My legs don't hurt so much today from all the walking and tripping over my skirts (make note must learn to hike them up when going up hill instead of holding Toki's hand).
The weather prediction (yeah if you can trust that in this state) says low 80's and 10% chance of rain. This could be another beautiful day at faire.
So if you see the "OTHER QUEEN" in her burgandy dress... it's most likley me. Stop Toki and I and say Hi and maybe you will see a Hamster... or not :) Not to mention, I'd be happy to take a life like painting of you with my wonderful DaVinci box filled with 8.1 Mega pixies (Hum make note to self not to let the fairies know I have enslaved pixies to do my work for me).
Hope to see even more of you Saturday... OH and once again for those interested I will have my Faire magazine with me (well in the car) if you have not seen it with CoRF in it.
OH I like Capt Collio... yes please come back more. I must say while I like Jack, I like Capt Coolio better as he is original and mush more handsome... for a pirate that is :)
Ah, twas nice to see Cap'n McCool this weekend! And all the patrons and playtrons and forum members and everyone else not involved in death and taxes.
Just realized that I hit my 100th post today.
now everyone has to give me a dollar.
I'll give you a dollar but you owe Zoe 4 then and me 6 as both she and I have hit over 500. Better start posting to catch up :)

And you! Yes I just decided to shake things up a bit and since I had gotten some new garb when I went to Arizona in February I thought I'd give the new character a shot. I'm thinking Zoë will be out to play on Sunday, perhaps. I'm not getting much playing time in since I'm in charge now (have to stay till cannon every day) but I get out for my breaks anyway. And actually the hair color is the same, haha. This is the first time in many years that it's been the same color for more than a season! It's just longer than last year...

Wow you're right, I hadn't even been paying attention to that. Are we the only ones from this board over 500? Makes me feel kinda lame actually, haha...
I think so... but then again we both post other places as well on the forum so it adds up.

It's a side show circus performer that bites the heads off of live chickens of which I can attest I am not... and Zoe... well I cannot talk for her but I would garner a guess she is not one either.
and then there are ther other Geeks. People with intelligence AND Style
A Nerd is just intelligent, and a dweeb is neither
So yes I guess Zoe and I are the latter form of Geeks. We have intelligence and Style

You have never heard of a Mega Pixie? WOW Well then you are a Pirate are ye not so it would not surprise me as us Nobles know and hear more.
My Da Vinci box said it came with 8.1 Mega Pixies when I purchased it. A mega Pixie is a Super magical Pixie that can capture your life like image in a split second and when it gets printed on the printing press it looks just like you at the exact second the Mega Pixies had their window opened up to take a split second look.
They never stop amazing me with what they can do. But sadly there are newer Da Vinci boxes out that have 12.1 or more Mega Pixies.
As for them being like a Hamster? I praytell not or Demetrious would have taken them and eatin them or used them in another other diabolic plan. They are akin to fairies hince the reason I do not want the fairies at faire to know I am using them for this purpase and I would never get to capture the l like image of a fairy like Lily Fairy or Twig ever again.
Does that help?

Tis a wonderful device created by that master of science Leonardo Da Vinci. But keep it all on the hush as the church would most likey burn me at the steak for Herasy and using what they would deem "Tools of the Devil"
And while personally I have never seen a pixie, I have seen fairies and I can only trust what the merchant who sold me this wonderous device told me. But then again it works and thus it must be true. My only question is the .1 pixie... did they lop off her head to get the .1? Or maybe it's a pregnant pixie I guess I may never now.
Oh and please take no offence to me calling you a pirate. There are those even in the Queens court who would consider Sir Walter Raliegh and Sir Francis Drake pirates and not nobles, especially those pesky Spanish.
So I'd be more than happy to have you stand in front of my Da Vinci box so my 8.1 pixies can capture your likeness
It's probably a good thing they keep track of only posts, not reads. ;D
As for the weekend ... We had a waterfall and drips inside the journal booth on Sunday! (That's Under the Mango Tree, near the mermaid fountain) Sadly it was directly over the largest and most expensive books, but several valiant souls pitched in so most of the leather-and-paper were saved. Roof is now fixed. =)
And I am going to find more time to play ... I miss too much running back-and-forth! Although I will say the German brothers are a riot. But they always have been - I've had fun playing with them in the streets at other faires.
And for the record, I don't have any hamsters, but a trouble maker of a rat, named Bill G.
Apologies to all who I did not say hello to during this first tempest of a weekend. I'll make sure to do the rounds, if I can, this coming weekend or even the one after it. Did Saturdays crowd seem smaller than usual to anyone else? Sundays crowd seemed more dense, in more than a few ways, and even managed through the storm and hail to a decent closing.
I have to admit that I prefer the chiller and wetter weekends to the blazing hot ones. Come on, who seriously doesn't like playing in the rain?!
I would play in the rain but it would look like a beached whale and that just isn't pretty. ;D
Bahlien, I saw you several times I believe, from afar.
I've heard that gate on Saturday was average or above average, and Sunday seemed a bit more crowded.
Rain I like, lightening not so much ... and hail HURTS!
I had a fantastic weekend! And as to the rain, I love the cooler temperatures, but my dress doesn't like the wet at all. I took shelter and played dice with the Spaniard untill I lost all my coins, and I probably owe a couple of clothing items too. Oh well, at least I avoided being hailed on!
I have missed singing at faire too much to complain about anything else. If anyone gets the chance to hear us sing, tell my newest member how great she's sounding! I can't wait 'till next weekend, hopefully we'll be able to join brat pack picnic this time.
It was wonderful to see everyone again! If I missed you this time, I'll catch you next!

I much prefer the cooler days myself, but yes, it does kill our business. Who wants to drink cold soda when it's rainy and cold outside? I know I wouldn't...
I got to touch a DaVinci box with 47 megapixies in it once. They tried to convince me to use it, but I was afraid i would break it if I held it too long, and simpy didnt have the guilders to pay for it in that case.

No offense taken. And I would be more than honored to stand in front of said Da Vinci box. And yes, unfortunately, nobles of other countries don't have a sense of humor when one takes their vessels in the name of England, especially during wars. I've seen many a soul go over to the dark side due to just that.
Such is life I suppose.
I have to admit I was rather amused by Sunday. That hail storm was brilliant. My Boss was getting the kids to singing "rain rain go away" then the rain got worse.. then it hailed. I say blame the children for not putting their whole hearts into it. BUT that was a round about way of saying the hail storm was great for business. it trapped a whole bunch of people in the crystal stix booth, and they bought stuff... which is shocking since they couldn't play with them in the cramped space.
Because I'm an addict and I hate my job. I'm calling in sick tomorrow to come play with you all. Yay. That, and I really am sick. I'd just rather be sick at Faire than sick at work. Being sick and coughing is not good when you handle other peoples food.
Have fun all i will probably be there sunday but hanging with family so if i look like i need rescuing well you get hte hint heheh
Glad to hear you'll be sick Tanda and not going to work. Faire is always the best place to get better... and it's funner.
Toki and I will be there. I decided against my red Katherine Parr Dress as it has a 50% chance of rain tomorrow and since it has a slight train it would get very dirty not to say muddy if it does rain. So i'll be back in my green and gold dress minus the doublet
See you all tomorrow
Who wants to deliver a message this week? :D
Not to the knights though...someone else!
We made it to the first weekend. Just got home from our vacation in the last hour, so couldn't post till now.
I don't think we met anyone from the list except Blushing.
We did see a bunch of people we know from Scarby. It was good to finally see some of the acts that I don't have time for at my own faire.
Strangest thing we saw was fire department inspections during the faire, both days on opening weekend. Never seen that happen at any of the other faires I have attended. And there were fire hydrants sticking out of the ground!
In a few days I hope to have time to sort and post all the pics I took. I will put a link in the picture thread.
