Anyone have any idea what they will have on tap this year now that Beamish is no longer being made? Ya think they will go back to Fordhams? I know that the switch to Beamish wasn't all that popular, but I liked the fact that it was much lower ABV than the Fordhams oyster stout.
How do we know there is no more Beamish? I doubt Fordham will come back unless Sam Adams disappears ... I miss the Fordham B&T!
I thought the Beamish was great......maybe now they will serve Guinness.....

We should be so lucky! Guinness I wish!
I am always the last to know things, but I was noodling around looking for the actual ABV of Beamish and found the article that the plant closed down 5/30/09. Heiniken purchased them and announced the closing last December. I am just assuming that, although you can probably still find some around, they wouldn't take on something at faire that was in finite quantities.
You are my dream lass ... keeping up with beer news!
You just moved to the top of my Christmas card list!
....thank goodness Beamish is gone...it was a Guinness wanna be....
... long as they have a stout. It's a sad, sad day when you can't get a good stout off the tap.
Is Heineken the new evil empire of beer and stout? Not only have they stopped distribution of Beamish outside of Ireland, they're controlling the manufacture and distribution of Guinness in Spain. http://www.irishexaminer.com/ireland/ididaueyey/
Personally, I would love to have Guinness at the Maryland Renaissance Festival. Yummmmmmmmy! My fave!
gee wiz i want to be top ten on scotsmans christmas card list...lucky duck...maybe someone (cough....scotsman) could convince them to serve Guinness
fingers are crossed for Guinness

I would settle for Smithwicks ... they would double their beer sales if they switched to Guinness product, I have no doubt about that!
There is a joke in there somewhere about you switching to Lady Guinness and beer sales; I just can't seem to find it. I must be getting old...or sober.

Nah, I'm not one for trying to take another man's brew, but that was just too rich a comment to go unsaid. ;D

And there it is! See I knew it was there. Just glad I didn't go there; the joke that is, not Lady Guinness. Oops I seem to have painted myself into a corner. :o
Can't we just get a keg of Guinness, put it behind the bar and give a password to the bartender?

Well, I was talking more like Scotsman... but you're absolutely right. So...
2 for the barkeeps
2 for the rest of us
and 8 for Scotsman (yeah, 9 hours in the day, but he's gotta privvie SOMEtime ;D )
Does anyone know WHY the don't serve Guinness? Isn't there something anyone can do to get it?
i know i'm not one of the beer drinkers unless it's Guinness but, sometimes i gotta have a stout
even if i'm more likely to get my kicks off of tailgate with a certain fanstastic someones signature drink
Same here! I prefer to drink stout (or mix a little cider in :) - YUM!)
Hmm, ok we won't see Fordham back as they are part owned by AB-Inbev and the owners of MDRF deal almost exclusively with Molson-Coors through D&M Distributing. They do carry a few beer from smaller brewers like the Boston Beer Company (also through D&M). As sad as it it may there is also a very slim chance that you will see Guinness (not the Lady) at our faire also.
I'm working on a new Pubcrawlers Guide to MDRF and will hopefully have it finished the Saturday of opening weekend.
can't we just convince the owners that Guinness would be a best seller?
It looks like the standards are going to be ...
coors lite
hardcore
sa oktoberfest
sa boston lager
sa boston ale
sa cream stout
SA Cream Stout is not all that bad.....it will do in a mug.....
It will be draft, won't it?

Awe thanks, I've got the full lists so far as well as pricing info up on the MDRFFoF Message Boards.
Down below the Dragon, at the Lair, there's always been a bevvy of beverages. . . hopefully that'll continue but not knowing which ones is part of the magic that the first day of festival begins!
Whatever the stout is that they are using at the Dragon's Lair, it still makes a darned fine Chocolate Covered Cherry...or three...or four...
Still not quite sure what I think about the Sam Adam's Cream Stout at the Hart. It's... I dunno. Tastes a little... off.

Agreed ... not too happy with it either.
They have limited selection at the White Hart....Lots to choose from at the Dragon's Lair, best selection on the site...they may not have EXACTLY what everyone wants, but they to have SOMETHING for everyone. (...sounds like a t-shirt waiting to happen...)
I am, as usual, just happy to be there.... 8)

hrm... guess I need to bring the big tankard, then, so I don't have to make as many trips between while watching the performances at the Hart.

Glahhhhhhh, chocolate covered cherries...
Alright, so I don't know if it was just a bad tap or what on opening day, but the Cream Stout actually did grow in me over this weekend. Then again, maybe it was that I just stopped caring and simply drank. *shrug*

I believe for me it was the latter. Never did like the first one or two even on Monday.
