Saw that not too long ago.  I wonder if it's a different sideless surcote than the one I made (though I can't remember if the one I made was Simplicity or McCalls).  I like the laced sleeves on the chemise though, that's nice.

I like this pattern, so whenever there's a simplicity sale, I'm going to have to buy it.  Looks like a great base.  And that main dress shown is a great starter for Lily's Legend dress:

I was looking at that one.  I think I will have to get it the next time I go to JoAnns.

Oh my gosh!  I can't believe it took this many years for one of the big 3 to finally do the Legend gown!  I've seen many other attempts at this gown-one that comes to mind is yosa.com (http://yosa.com).  Although the Yosa dress IS stunning, it really isn't quite the same as Lily's gown.  Actually, this new simplicity gown is one of the best attempts I've seen.

This dress was the first piece of garb I ever fell in love with.  Legend has always been one of my favorite fantasy movies and was instrumental in turning me into a rennie.  Years ago, before I knew what a ren faire was, a good friend of mine asked me to be in her medieval/renn wedding, and she had a seamstress attempt to duplicate this gown for her wedding gown. (Which again, wasn't quite right.) After my friend introduced me to MDRF in preparation for her wedding, the rest was history! So..not that you wanted to know any of this, but this is why I have a fondness for this gown.

I bought this one about a month ago at Hancocks. They already had their fall book out - maybe they goofed and put stuff up early? Because I remember coming home and checking Simplicity.com, and it wasn't even on there yet. I don't know when (or if) I'll ever make it (since my figure likes the stiffness of Tudor, not the looseness of Medieval), but I do think it's a nice-looking pattern.

I LOVE IT!!!  This is pretty much what I want to make for my wedding dress.  I wonder if I could add a hood to that?

I've seen a dress made with this pattern. It was very cool. Actually, I've seen two dresses made with this (I think). They were both worn by the same girl at the Mayfaire festival this year. I have pictures of both...

Here's one but I have a better one I'll post as soon as I find it...

That is beautiful, it looks so light and comfortable. Love the colors on it and that trim is quite lovely.

I'm looking a little more at this pattern.  I don't know about using this chemise with the sideless surcote.  Having a billowy chemise under a sideless surcote kind of ruins the idea behind it, being able to see the female figure without actually seeing it.  I skimmed some patterns and I think I would pair this surcote with a chemise from McCalls 5499, Butterrick 4827 or Simplicity 8725 (out of print, probably the one this one replaced).

Fyi - I think I used the old Simplicity pattern on mine...
