I am having some major health issues (pancreas, liver and intestinal issues) this year that keep me from wearing anything tight on my stomach and all the meds I am taking are making me allergic to the sun. I am thinking about buying some custom fairy wings and just going none HA. I am not a skinny person so I don't want anything that is sleeveless or short. I am not finding anything I like that's not made from polyester on ebay. I don't mind spending $100 or so but I have plenty of skirts and chemises already. I just don't know what to do about the whole bodice thing. I do have a plain cotton and wood parasol I can decorate to match. I could always go for the whole Ever After outfit but is it overdone?
Oh yeah -- with my health issues being bent over a sewing machine for any length of time is not a good idea.
i would think a wizard/witch style druid cloak would be great. could always go for a period nun also. both are loose fitting comfy and cover your skin.
Lady Katherine made me this Italian gown that is an empire waisted under and over dresses w/tie on sleeves (and chemise, of course). You could wear a partlet to fill in the neckline and still be period, and also minimize your sun exposure. Although I had them made because I love Lady K's work, it looks like fairly straightforward sewing and could be done w/o too many hours at a sewing machine.

It would work well if you want to play as a fairy this season. Reasonably priced. Comes in lots of colors. It looks cool and comfy and next year when you are hopefully back to good health it could be worn with your other garb.

I would like a dress like that but it's a cotton/poly blend and I thought that wasn't very good for 90 degree heat with high humidity.

OH YES!!! If you're super pale, I would either go with a pale pastel color, or a rich jewel tone. Remember to get the jewelry to go with it, and finish off the outfit. Depending on where you live, it can be pretty easily accessible.

My pale, blond friend once borrowed a jewel tone sari from our mutual friend, who is Indian. I believe it was blue, but mostly I remember that she looked stunning.
Got a little downtime and was curious. I can't believe how inexpensive a silk sari can be! So pretty too. I want's one now. :D

As for the chemise, it seems to be a lightweight blend broadcloth so it should be fine. I wear a cotton poly jacquard with no problems in Florida. I do wonder how lightweight it is, as in is it a bit see through in strong sunlight. Probably fine in a darker color. Perhaps a trip to a fabric store to look at a lightweight broadcloth up close if you decide to go that way
