Title: Introducing Rosabelle of Vinwood- Ideas?
Post by: bellevivre on July 16, 2009, 10:45:05 AM
I have finally succumbed to years of Faerie love and i am going to TRY to have a new faerie to introduce at TRF! After struggling with the idea of a 'fluffy' faerie, I (with help from my other post on the Character Creation board) started brainstorming ideas for faeries which would logically represent things that are bountiful- like harvests and rainstorms and the moon- and garden roses!

My plan is to use my rose/vine Pendragon as a base, make a green chemise, a skirt/skirts that will resemble red and pink rose petals, and a crown of roses... I may go with nylon wings this time- I have a cloak and gloves to make for hubby, and a florentine to fix up, and banners for camp... EEK i better get started!

So, ideas for this new outfit? I have some ideas for the wings- i know normal painting doesnt really work well, but perhaps dry paints, like stencil paint?

I am also thinking of edging the top of the chemise with rose leaves- I can take fabric and cut pieces into rose leaf designs then fray-check the edges, and sew them so they flop over the top of the bodice...

I can keep a pouch full of those fabric rose petals they use for weddings and give them to any kids who might approach (do kids tend to approach non-cast faeries?)

Sounds like a marvelously fun character to play!  I can't wait to see your beautiful outfit all pulled together.

Yes!  Be prepared to be approached by kids.  I truly feel you need to like kids to play a fae, children are fascinated by us!

I was also thinking maybe have some tiny roses woven or tied into your hair or have a garland with roses on it.

Show us pics!!  Hopefully I'll get to see you at TRF!

Hobby Lobby, Michael's, or Joanne's have bags of tiny little roses.  They aren't expensive, either.  I needed to buy some to put on a regular dress once.  You could give them to the children.  It might be easier than making individual rose petals, and as I mentioned, they were really reasonably priced.

I was thinking the little rose petals you can buy to scatter at weddings, but rosebuds is an even BETTER idea!

Kids at faire love it when others give them stuff, and I think the rosebuds are a great idea.

Double check that it is ok with your faire that it is ok to give out things, especially to kids

TRF has no prohibition on handing out favors, if you want to brighten a child's day with a faerie trinket, Go for it!!
