It was just announced that Walter Cronkite has just passed away at the age of 92.
RIP Uncle Walter
In seeking truth you have to get both sides of a story.
~Walter Cronkite
When I was a kid, the CBS Evening News with Walter Cronkite was the only newscast my father would watch.
RIP Mr. Cronkite, and thank you for your integrity and class.

Thank you, Mr. Cronkite, for being there. :(
Growing up a NASA brat, I knew Walter Cronkite (or "Wally Crankcase" as the Apollo astronauts affectionately called him) was a friend of the program and a trusted man. I especially respected his personal convictions. I watched him up to the day he retired, and network news has been feeble imitator of him ever since.
Vaya con Dios, Mr. Cronkite. You will forever have my respect.
Happy Trails, Walter.
Sad to hear he was such a fixture growing up watching him on TV. I respected him till I meet him and heard him tell how he manipulated the new to fit his personal agenda. Sometimes one should not meet their childhood heros its to disappointing.
One of the last of the true reporters. He and his kind are missed. Rest in peace good sir.
I'll never forget his reaction as Neil Armstrong landed on the moon. Newsmen at that time weren't supposed to show emotion but the pride and joy in his face said it all. Conversely, the tone of his voice at the announcement of JFK's death as well. His humanity always came through. He couldn't be a robot.
A life well lived and served.
He is actually related to me...I think we figured out third cousin three times removed or something. My first cousins, who live in New York, got to have brunch with him and his "lady friend" two years ago. They said he was a true gentleman and a wonderful host (and remembered my grandparents fondly) Family legend tells of my grandmother Ruth (on my Dad's side) having to rush out to purchase the future Mrs. Cronkite a white bra to wear with her wedding dress. She apparently had showed up at the church in a nice navy dress (and navy bra). :o
Ironically enough, on my Mom's side I'm related to Cole and James Younger (of the James gang fame). Talk about polar opposites!!!! ;D
