The FL fall and late winter faire season is almost upon us. Instead of making an individual thread for each 1-2 weekend faire, I figured we could post the chatter here since most of the folks who will be going to those faires are somehow tied to BARF, too.
Here is the list:
Lady of the Lakes
Tavares, FL
November 7 and 8 (9-5 PM)
Saint Augustine Pirate Gathering
St. Augustine, FL
November 13 and 14
Camelot Days
Ft. Lauderdale, FL
November 14 and 15 (10-5:30 PM)
Sarasota Medieval Faire
Sarasota, FL
November 14-15 and 20-22 (10-6 PM)
Fort Myers Medieval Faire
Ft. Myers, FL
January 16-17 and 23-24 (9:30-6 PM)
Hoggetowne Medieval Faire
Gainesville, FL
January 16-17 and February 6-7 (10-6 PM)
We'll be at Lady of the Lakes, Camelot Days, Ft. Myers, Hoggetowne, FLaRF before BARF, and then the full season of BARF. How about you? Where will we see you next?
We are planning to be at the following faires.
Lady of the Lake on Sat. & Sun.
Sarasota on Nov. 22
Hoggtowne the first weekend
and as many times as we can to BARF. ;D
I'll be hitting all of them except Camelot Days...and be draggin' the usual suspects along with me...
I imagine I'll be at a good many of them, though it's too early to give a definite yet.
I'd like to check out Camelot Days this year. That would be a new one for me and do-able as a day trip I think.
Always enjoy the faire in Ft Myers as well. It's a good group.
Good call Kathryn. Thanks for posting the list. :)
Michigan!!! ;D
Davens and myself will definately be at Sarasota since it be my birthday weekend...Friday the thirteenth 21st birthday!!! WOO!
We'll have to see how work folds out and distance for us for some of the others. If we do it will be on Sundays.
Lady Maud and I are aiming for Lady of the Lakes.....we owe their Court a return visit! :)
Where are we?
Who locked me in the hold with the rum anyway...
Change of plans...won't be doing Camelot Days, and will only be doing Ft. Myers if a certain performer friend of mine gets in. Otherwise, the drive for two weekends is just too much.

Well said, Your Grace! They most certainly DO deserve a return visit for all their kind pleasantries this past season. I am glad that someone will be able to make that trip!
EDIT: We'll only be doing Hoggetowne, Lady of the Lakes, and a very small portion of BARF, instead of the full run.
Kathryn,
thank you for putting it all together.
Milord and I will probably go to Camelot days being as it is literally only 10 minutes away from my office (1 hr from home).
We would like to do st. Augustine but its a 3.5hr drive each way, and we would rather save that money so that we may attend BARF since we absolutely loved it this year.
Lady of the Lakes (for sure)
Hoggetowne (for sure)
Sarasota Medieval Faire (probable)
Ft. Myers (maybe)
Just returned from:
Stuart Pirate Festival
Talk Like a Pirate Day
Upcoming
Fort Myers Beach Pirate Festival October 9 - 11, 2009
St. Augustine Pirate Gathering Nov 13-15
10th Anniversary of Pirates in Paradise in Paradise Key West, Nov. 28 - Dec. 6, 2009
Lady of the Lakes (for sure)
Hoggetowne (maybe. Didn't have a huge amount of fun at that one last year)
You can expect to encounter me at the following shows:
Lady of the Lakes
Tavares, FL
November 7 and 8
Open to Close, both days
Camelot Days/Sarasota Medieval Faire
Ft. Lauderdale, FL/Sarasota, FL
November 14 and 15
So far, the plans are up in the air for these shows. If I can arrange it, I'll be at Camelot to greet the new show and see what it's like. If not, I'll be at Sarasota. There's also the possiblity that I'll do one day at each, but that's quite a drive and I'm not sure I'm up to it.
Carolina Renaissance Festival
Charlotte, NC
November 20-22
Open to Close both days AND Friday night gathering)
Fort Myers Medieval Faire
Ft. Myers, FL
January 23-24
Tentatively, the plan is to be there open to close but last year, there was precious little shade and I'm not in the mood to bake.
Hoggetowne Medieval Faire
Gainesville, FL
January 16-17 and February 6-7
I missed Hoggetowne because I was in the hospital last year... have no intention of repeating that.
Feb 6-7 will EITHER be at Hoggetowne Medieval Faire or FLARF
Home, thank heavens! It's gotten cold in Hollygrove!!!
*chucking* are the teacup bloomers any good for warmth?
November 7-8 might be split up between something for the kiddo on Saturday and then Lady of the Lakes on Sunday.
Still have to talk to the kid...
Will we be having a gathering of the extended family to celebrate the return of our Queen's mischievous twin back to the Southern Shire?
I'm up for it
When and where
if I can get there... I'm there!
Not much would have helped for warmth last night. Temps got below freezing. Chilly in the old farmhouse, even with blankets and dogs on the bed. Woke up to frost and ice this morning. brrrrrrrrrrr.
Would very much be up to a reunion gathering when I get home. Am going straight into rehearsal for Night of the Living Dead when I return, so will have to check the schedule for an open evening. But I hope y'all come to see the play! Opens in just a couple of weeks at TBPAC.
Night of the Living Dead
I think that's the one based on my marriage, right?
;D
Both ideas sound like fun to me. I am bummed I did not make it to MIRF last weekend (thanks to a 22 hour flight to Chicago) but understand McFukker will be there this weekend. Will be worthwhile as we begin the warm ups to events in Fittlesworth.
22 hours?
You could have driven
Hell, you probably could have ridden a HORSE there in that kind of time... what happened?
Just the normal flying thru Atlanta events including two cancelled flights. There is always next year...
two canceled flights?
did you tell these folks who you ARE?
Flash your FOKTOP badge?
Show them your kilt?
Boast on your MUG???
(by the way... 22 hours, you could have flown through ATLANTIS, let alone Atlanta...)
Aye good count, alas I tried all of these things. I even informed them I was on my way to visit the Queen. They seemed unimpressed. A woman at the pub was far more impressed with my kilt and FOKTOP pin, but DiVinci's flying machines seem to loose their reliability when venturing thru the Fairburn Shire. Next time, when proceeding north, I shall find a machine to fly over or around that place altogether.
I cannot say I blame you... for lest the higher altitudes thereabouts be rife with dragons and other perils, 'twouldst seem surely more advisable to take to the total avoidance of the realm on the ground...
Looks like BARF is back on for me. Now I just have to find a place to stay.
Huzzah! Splendid news!
Do there be any interested folks going down to Ft, Myers Beach this weekend?
I'm out for this weekend... daughter just moved in... we're still getting settled in.
It's a shame, too... because I'm going through some serious withdrawal...
As it is, I was gearing up for Lady of the Lakes and it's likely that I'll only get to go there one day... Sunday. At least November is full of Faires!!
Whoops...looks now like at best, Lady Maud and I will only be able to make Lady of the Lakes on the Saturday. We have a performance with Florida Pro Musica on that Sunday.
demmit! I am not going to make Saturday and will be there on Sunday... God willing and the creek don't rise...
Okay. I know for sure we will definately be attending Sarasota Medieval Fair and BARF. We would like to attend at least one weekend of FLARF, but depending on situations we may not be able to.
However, Opening weekend of SMF is my 21st birthday weekend! I know I'll be celebrating, and would love to see all of ya'll out for my first Ren Style birthday party! T'would be grand!!
as of right now, barring a miracle, I shall not be at Faire at all for the remainder of the year.
:'(
What? Not even BARF? :'(( You will be missed, Count...

Remainder of the year...as in 2009. ;)
He'll be there. Even if I gotta come get him. I've done it before.... 8)
I'm at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, performing in Night of the Living Dead, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays though November 15.
Anna: in a creepy voice They're coming to get you Madge.... :D
I'd love to see that! One of my all time favorite films. Who do you play?

OK, I don't have a "Year" hand on my timepiece... but I'm fairly certain BARF isn't until
next year...
;D
I mean this year... between now and December 31... I am not sure I'll be able to make any appearances.
I am gonna try...

Well, I certainly hope so.
If I survive this weekend, my wife and I will be at Lady of the Lakes at least.
