Title: Shoes.
Post by: Hercules on July 28, 2009, 08:05:18 AM
Another obscure question from the newb....how many pairs do ya'll usually take for a weekend?

I was just planning on my sandles (garb-type) and a pair of my cross trainers for the morning jog and drunk-hurdle.

MORNING JOG!?!?! You mean the stubble to the privy? Two pair is all I bring. One for faire and something comfy for afterward to help my feet recover and get ready for the next day of faire.

Yep, 2 pairs normally - faire shoes and something comfy & easy to take on and off for afterwards.  Unless weather is questionable and I may have to change my shoe decision (like boots instead of sandals).

At Scarborough everything turns into a mud pit when it rains so I was thinking about my mud-boots.

I bring faire shoes and a pair of shoes I don't mind getting messed up in the campground and a pair to drive home in (usually sandals) in case the campground shoes are just nasty to wear at the end.
My Lovely Lady on the other hand...
Different faire shoes for whatever garb she will wear, shoes to wear for any situation, sandals to wear on the ride home
She likes her shoes... a lot
a lot and then a lot

*she brings as much in shoes as I bring in rum...*

Typically, I have the shoes I wear inside, and some easy slip ons (in warm weather, crocs, in cold/wet weather, weatherproofed shearling boots/slippers) Sometimes, in cases of extreme cold/wet, the warm fuzzies get worn inside too (this is also the weather in which you will see fleece pants peeking out at a lady's ankles!) Couple of years ago at closing weekend, it was SO cold and wet I would take off my boots by the heater and my feet would literally steam...

RE: Jogging: If you are up to jogging in the morning, well, wow. But remember, you will be traipsing around a 20 acre park all day, and then will be up till the wee hours amidst drunken revelry... so, dont be TOO hard on yourself if that doesnt work out!

CROCS!?  :o OH HELL NO! I'll wear sequined spiked-heel strippers shoes before I'd wear crocs!

My revelry days are over...I'm planning to set my little trailer juuuuust far enough away that I can get my beauty sleep which I am already so far behind on.

geeez... let me qualify the crocs! They are comfortable, when tromping around camp. I dont wear them INSIDE... (though hubby did once, with a kilt, and got HIGHLY ridiculed for it!)

My feet ache enough after a day in faire, even with GOOD shoes, so why would I NOT wear shoes that feel like walking on clouds? Lol I'm not vain, i dont care how bad they look- and mine are red and go with my penguin jammies (my typical camp-walking garb)

Don't care if they come with free beer...no crocs for me.

Boots for inside and work boots for around the camp grounds.  I need support the only place I wear sandles is to and from the dojo.

Hercules we normally camp around row 20 were they put in the new road.  Close enought to walk to the different camps for fun but back enough to get a little quiet rest.

I like Herc, he's with me on the anti-croc crusade...though an economy size bottle of Private Stock could convince me to wear a pair for a day...but then again I'm a whore.

My two pairs of boots, and like many others, driving shoes depending on the weather.

I have a pair of ghillies from nativework shoes that are awsome.  After that it is flipflops or boots

I wear calf length hippie boots, without the fringe, with my kilt.  Around camp, depending on the weather, sandals or jump boots.

Crocs are incredibly comfortable and are great lake-shoes so all ya'll haters can just shush! They make pairs that doen't have holes in them so you can't even tell they're Crocs!

:P

For faire, depending on the weekend, includes a pair of flip flops, a pair of tennies, my regular boots, my rain boots, and hopefully a pair of ghillies soon...and don't forget to bring a bunch of extra pairs of socks, you never know how moist/dewy the campgrounds will be in the morning or if it'll be real rainy....plus it got colder than snot the last weekend I was out last season which was Highland Fling.

Sorry. Try 53 acres of sometimes questionable terrain inside the gates plus the long hike/crawl to/from wherever you choose to camp.

Seen those out there too many times. In the mornings.... Seen the same pairs later in the day being handheld whilst the owner tearfully tried to gimp their way to the gate, barefoot.

If you are prone to blisters, I'd bring 2 pairs of garb shoes.

I'd do this regardless the first month. It's hot, you're sweaty, and do you want to put your feet back into wet boots?

I will have three pair this year. My boots for inside faire, a pair of flip flops for around camp (and the airplane ride into town), and my warm fuzzy boots in case it gets cold.

uh, no, sorry. I was referring to the stripper boots. They have their place but faire ain't it.
But I don't like crocs either.
