So...I've decided that it is time to start counting down to The MI Renaissance Festival!!!!
24 DAYS!!!!
WOOT!!!!
Unfortunately, no camping for us this year but, we'll be day tripping most Sundays and doing at least one Saturday (9/5) to hook up with an old friend!
Lord love a duck! I gotta get sewing!!!!
OOO! So close. *bounces* Gotta get sewing for opening day.
Yep... It's almost time. I can tell by looking at the packing mess in my guest room!
Eek! Not alot of time left to sew! Thankfully, I am well over half way there!! ;D
23 DAYS!!
Isn't it funny that the mere mention of the words "countdown to (insert faire name here)" brings about an overwhelming urge to sew? hehehehe I too am busy sewing away. weeeee!!!
Madge good to hear that your guest room is a mess....means you'll be on the move soon :) yeah!!!
Woooo hoooo! Already getting antsy for faire and going back to Michigan.
We are ready, did some warm-ups at Bristol, Mayfaire and Derbyshire.
We're almost ready.
Jon.
Completely ready. Got my drink on at Mayfaire, got new garb at derby, got my voice ready at silverleaf, whoo, seven weeks with no days off, i can do this!
If you are anywhere around (or in!) the Jail or Turtle Races this season, be on the look out for their newest Minion - that would be my kid.
She done got conscripted by Weeb!!
22 DAYS!!!!
Maggie, your little girl has been recruited eh? What fun!!!
I was just looking at this pic of her the other day
http://festiveattyre.com/feature/yr1/week47.html
That was a few years before I met you, but wow how they grow hey?
On that note....back to sewing!!!
*Prays for warm weather*
This mudskipper is ready and waiting! I just hope it stays warm... there's nothing quite like diving into a mud pit on a nice, breezy 40 degree day.
I shiver at the very thought of it...
But it's a shiver of EXCITEMENT!
LOL!
Just what I needed! Another reminder that I haven't yet bought me boots!! :o
Durned life gettin' in th' way o' me fun time!! ::) :P ;)
Ahh the anticipation! I was almost as excited to see the countdown as I am to return to Hollygrove.
THORNY!
Huzzah, it's a brown christmas!
Yeah - she's been sucked in! :D I'll give you the full saga over a cider.
Miss Thing is 11 now and wait until you see her!! She's about 5' 6" and that straight blonde hair done got all curly!! She's all geeked to Minion.

Honestly thoughts of MIRF have been on the back burner as we *just* finished loading the car for war week at Pennsic. I panic over MIRF prep after I relax from panicking over Pennsic prep. LOL
Our living room is waking up in preparation of MIRF. New patterns are being cut out and rolls of material are appearing from nowhere... ;)

11. Tall. Excited about being a minion.
(In my defense - in this picture, Shorty has 2.5" heels on. Right now, when we are barefoot, I reach her eyebrows.)

Holy cow she is tall!!!
20 DAYS!!!

STOP COUNTING, MY GOWN'S NOT READYYYYYYY
Anyone have garb ideas for my newly broken shoulder, just in time for faire? Still going opening weekend, of course! Just imbibing darvocet instead of my usual brew. Looking forward to seeing everyone again, especially after what seemed to be an 8 month winter.....
Yes, please stop counting, I've got to make a gold silky dress for my baby daughter, Lucy. She has her 1st birthday party at MIRF, although her actual proper birth date isn't until the 25th. :) I haven't started on her dress yet. My desk in clubbered up with jewellery stuff. LOL I have other stuff to do too before then. Crikey, where does the time go. This year has gone too fast.

Alas, but the purse is not deep enough this year to accomodate both a sojourn to HollyGrove AND our eldest's nuptials (Sept 19). You may remember her as well...Lady Arwin (Meghan) has been a frequent visitor to your shire over the years...actually more frequently than and preceeding Lady Maud and myself by several years. She doth maintain a manor in the principality of Columbus after attaining her degrees in 2002 at a certain institution that doth sport upon it's banner the colors of Scarlet and Grey embelished by a poisonous nut.
We didst consider strongly whether a visit this year would be possible, but must regretfully be absent. We look forward to renewing our annual visits next year.
Thy shall be greatly missed M'Lord, but it is understandable. Congratulation to LadyArwin on her up and coming nuptials. I shall try and visit the southern shire next year when I hope my purse is a little deeper.
Fare Thee Well

1 DAY.....11 HOURS.....20 MINUTES!!!!!
And we are leaving tomarrow so it's like Christmas Eve around here.......wwwhhhahahahahhoooooo!!!
I shall be coming for this Sunday only. I leave some time on Saturday from Wisconsin. So, I shall see many of you in the Gunisess Pub. I missed last year so I am looking forward to this visit.

Sir Lord Clisto - It will be most glorious to see you again!! Be sure to stop by for the meet and greet at 11 am......we even put fresh paint on those red and yellow bridges...giggle....
maybe this year we can get you into the group photo...giggle
One day now counting this one. I won't make the first day as I explained in another thread, I'm going to the Air Show at Selfridge Air Base, but I will be attending soon. My dad and I have made it a tradition evry year the air show is done we attend along with attending the fest, but the airshow only happens evry two years and only for two days and we catch it as soon as possible. So have fun for me at fest this weekend. I know you all will, it's fest one of the best places on earth.
We'll be hitting Selfridge on Sunday...
Jon.
Sir Clisto, I will miss seeing you on Sunday. As we're going tomorrow and cannot wait.
While some of you have only hours left... I have a day left and Saturday will be torture not to be up there! But I'll be there Sunday and whew... just finished all the sewing and now just shaking out the rest of the stuff... *bounces* It's indeed like Christmas!!
Not at all like Christmas. On Christmas I sleep in, open presents, then usually go snowboarding.
Tomorrow I am getting up at 5 AM and going to do a TV interview, then working all day.
Not like Christmas at all...<g>
A few hours to go... I guess a bit of sleep would be a good idea. I always seem to be up late cutting business cards the night before the faire. We'll see how straight they look in the morning... :-\

I get up in the afternoon Darkranger I work midnights so today is going to be a long one wooohooo.
It's pretty wet here at home. MIRF is about 40 minutes away... We may change our plans. Go to Selfridge today and MIRF tomorrow.
Jon.
Well, didn't go to Selfridge Saturday, because of rain went to an airshow at Willow Run one year when it rained, and they ran only two planes as fly-by's and we only got to look at the static displays. So didn't attend fair or airshow today. But, today we shall make it to the Airshow.
not very warm yesterday, but today looks to be more promising, with a high of 71 and part sunny ;D The Queens dress was just awesome it was a ray of sun in a gray day . :)Can't wait to see what She will be wearing today! Boy I hate waiting till noon to start my day with a fresh Gunnies! :P
We really wanted to see the new dress yesterdaty. :'(
Jon.
I hope someone has pic of the new dress.
The countdown is over......Opening weekend of MIRF has come and will be gone in about 15 minutes. It was truly a wonderful weekend. So many old friends that I had not seen since last season, the smell in the air, the guiness and woodchuck, all the great music that can be heard no matter where you are, the friends that I hardly go a week without talking to - that I met at faire many years ago and looking into their welcoming faces and remembering all the good times (although two were missing and I look forward to when they will get a chance to come).....and holding my husbands hand once more while stolling the lanes.
ahhhhhhh....I'm home.........
That really says it all Brother! ;D

Yes we were there both days, I don't think that the budget will allow another such trip. Tiring to save money for a day at Mid Mich. ;D
I had a great time on Sunday even with the little rain in the morning. The rest of the day turned out super. I got to see many of my friends I have not seen in 2 years since I didnt get to go last year. I did the wine tasteing and bought some bottles and spent the day with my good friend King Henry the Red from Shiabruck. We did Queens feast, and I got many pictures. Missed Flidais since lady Ann said you left early Sunday. I managed to get in the large RF picture and just had an all around super time. Sorry if I missed anyone. And, to everyone else I did get to see or meet, it was a real pleasure. You are all a great bunch of people to be around.
I am working on my pics now and should have them up by this weekend. I will post when they are ready.
