It has been asked what to bring to tailgate - first and foremost - bring yourself. As your host the MDRF folks will have all that is needed. This said, if you have something you specialize in feel free to add it to the list.

I'll be there. At least Sunday and most of Monday. Depending on my horse-back riding lesson schedule thingy, I may or may not show on Saturday. We'll see. :)

As far as items to bring ... Lady Guinness is the official tailgate organizer - I will let her come onboard and let everyone know if anything is needed ... but I doubt much will be. The most important thing to bring is an appetite for fun and hugs for everyone ;D
We are so looking forward to it - last year was a great time! I think the final count was 3 cases of Champaign ... WoW!
We will be there for some of the weekend. Don't kow if I can swing another hotel stay in the budget though. We may have to do the up and back in one day. Don't want to since we will then miss all of the tailgating activities.
I am bringing a group which cosists of myself, my wife Lady Heather, my Druid Man-at-Arms Brent and his wife, Carol the Warrior Princess. We are making the trek from Toronto, Ontario, so the Great White North will be represented as well. At this point, visits to family are planned for Sunday, and we have to make the trip back on Monday, so Saturday will be our only day to visit the Faire.
For the record:
By that time, I will have moved into a bitty two bedroom house. The second bedroom is going to have a queen-sized bed in it. It's possible I could work out with some people if they need a place to stay but can't do the hotel thing. :)
Robert of Armstrong-it is great to hear you and yours will be making the journey to our shire. You will have a wonderful time during your visit.
To all: As the time draws nearer we can discuss more details of tailgating. Basically I will need a really good head count of who is going to attend so there will be plenty for everyone. I am looking forward to seeing everyone!

Okay... update:
I really want to go, but not sure if I want to fly, as the tickets are getting pricier.
I'm looking at driving (yes, all the way from Texas), and am wondering if any other poor sod along my route is gonna be driving as well. If so, then would anyone be willing to become a traveling companion and split the costs of the trip?

Of course, if you come back for the final weekend of MDRF you're likely to run into more than a few Jedi and Stormtroopers and possibly a Darth Vader. :)

Yup. Luckily, I had only bought my plane ticket, which I was lucky to catch cheap. I went to D*C way back in '99 and was thinking of going back, but I would have been going alone. Here, I'll know people :)

They don't sell it at faire but I heard rumor that it can be found in various locations in the parking lot ;)

If I remember correctly, the total number of the Clan M'Crack for the weekend last year was 46........we had 39 on Sat and 38 on Sun.... we had a number of people that only came for one day.
I do know that the R/Fers had as large a group if not more each day......
So we shall work on the number being larger this year....
I just happen to have the Saturday mid-day picture on my desk at work... and I count 47 people in it... I know of at least one who wasn't a McCrack (SBF) - so that would make 46 - doggone it Laird.... perhaps guiness isn't such a brain seive as I thought!

I will have to bust out Saturdays 1000 picture - there was quite a crowd for that one. We should be able to get a good count from that.

Just found out that THREE out of the FOUR Horsemen will be there... so it will not qualify as Renpocalypse II... but I'm still looking forward to this so much I have my countdown listed on my calendar on my desk at work and everyone around here is asking me if I'm "really going to Maryland for a Faire". How soon they forget that I did this last year!!!

Actually, this is the official yearly Labor Day invasion for MDRF which so happens that the M'Crack's are among the invaders. That said, I believe there were around 60 M'Cracks or so. It gets pretty wild!
Well,since I am planning on coming this year lets make it a point to try and break last years record of 60 M'Cracks.

Lady Guinness and I are starting to "gear up" for Labor Day. We have a huge checklist of stuff to get. One problem ... she and I are out of town for the next 3 weeks (San Antonio Aug 4-8, PA Aug 8-10, Orlando Aug 15-21, MN Aug 21-24) ... So as you can see we don't have a lot of time to coordinate much. If there is someone here that can "step up" and assist with on-the-ground support it would be greatly appreciated.
You could let Peddlin'n and I know what you would like to have done. We will be more than happy to help out

In the short time that I have been a M'Crack I think i am adjusting pretty well to the Clan lifestyle.As a matter of fact all the running and fetching you all had me do at VARF was alot of fun.I wouldn't mind doing it again.The funnest part off all for me was getting to flirt with Stroke'n and having an attractive women such as yourself Pin'n sit on my lap during final pub sing.Boy was I living on cloud nine then.I was actually trying not to blush then but it was just so hard for me not to. ;D

Still no full schedule but for now besides opening gate, dance & court photo op, I will be at the royal pavilion for the two knighting ceremonies (1130 and 1pm) ;)

I saw many that were loud, and some that were Irish. I only stayed until about 11 or so. My friend was a bit wasted and wished to leave and we had a 2 hr drive back. Wasn't as big a festival as I expected but it was ok. I guess I am spoiled by MDRF and such.
I can't wait to see everyone again, it's been a long 9 months.

Aye, tis true. At this time, it looks as though I'll not be able to make it for labor day. Money is very tight (as I spent it all horse showing in Atlanta last month -mutter-) and my grandmother's health is getting worse, so I'm sort of afraid to leave home for any length of time (and that far away). HOWEVER, I will be up at some point this season... tis a promise...or threat.. hehe.

To all my friends on here that I have met and to my fellow clansmen and women of the Clan M'Crack unforunately I will not be able to make to the Labor Day Invasion this weekend.I was hoping to be able to make it but something came up at last minute and caused my plans to fall through.Anyway I hope you all have a lot of fun this opening and if you all can drink a few in my honor for me.I do however plan on being there several weekends in the season though so hopefully i will finally get to put some names with faces that I have met on here.Have fun and I will want to hear some stories from how the weekend went when we meet again on here on Tuesday.

In all fairness to my M'Crack brethren - we are a pretty tame group and needless to say, the places we patronize generally want us back for we run up some really wild bar tabs. It is worth whatever disruption the pub may experience for one evening.
The manage "Elk" is a pretty good lad and when I told him we were a loud bunch .... not a rowdy one, he said he would expect nothing less from a group of Irishman.
We are happy and sociable (and generally pretty big tippers). They always want us back. ;)

I was in possession of said banner ... it went to VARF this year with the M'Crack banner. Last I saw it was with Mike & JoAnne. I will see if they have it or Guardn' has it. If the banner is lost I will get a sharpie out and do a R/F on my chest for the group photo ;D

Tailgate?
I think tailgate is a definite since we can cut loose a little bit more with the kiddies at the grandparents.
I've never had a babysitter arrive at 7:45 AM. At that hour the trip down from Sykesville should only take 45 minutes. Can't wait! ;D

As Scotsman wrote, the coupon is from the Website and there it does say that they are only valid through September 7 (i.e. , this weekend and the next.)

That was Rt. 450 closed but they have reopened it. I can't imagine what they were thinking on closing a main rd. to renn. But yes it's opened, we traveled it last weekend.

Any reason on why that main road was closed for as long as it was?
There was about a 150 foot section that was WAY too low and flooded over every time it rained even a little bit. They have raised that section about 15 feet so no hopefully it won't flood.
Also when high tide would come in it would flood, but yes HOOORAY no more flooding.
So it's kind of like they went and built a flood wall on that road.............Right?

We have a sitter from 7:45 AM to 9:00 PM so the four of us can do MDRF unrestricted. I just can't justify getting one again tonight. So muck for hanging at the pool today with this weather but the Harp and Guinness are ready and awaiting the arrival of Lady Jai and Tim T. We'll see everyone at tailgate.

Greetings! On a fluke my husband and I decided to take a trip down to the Renn Fest on Monday and we ran into so many of you! One gentleman in particular directed us to check out this site - it was Count Adolfo - there were others from this crew but I can't remember since my husband and two friends were insistant on getting me drunk off meade. I was truly impressed to hear how far some of you traveled just to check out our neck of the woods (literally!).

Yes that was probably us. I'm guessing you were parked next to the Hummer (friends of ours). Glad you had a good time. There were so many people there it was hard to meet them all!
It was great to see old friends and meet some new.
I wish I could have been around more. Glad to have met those who I did both directly and indirectly. If you are to come back during this season and you see me be not afraid to say hello ;)
Well, I have finally (and eventually) made it back to Florida.
Turns out my starter is going to need a new solenoid... could have been far worse.
However, rather than dwell on the hassle... I'd like to say that this trip was one of my most enjoyable times at Faire.
It was great to see all you old friends and make some new ones in the process. I hope all of you make your way to BARF sometime so I may return your wondrous hospitality.
