Title: Internet Clothing Vendor Question
Post by: RenStarr on August 09, 2009, 06:12:07 PM
Has anyone had any experience with:

http://www.faireware.com/

I like some of the items that she offers but I would like some feedback from anyone who has made purchases.  Were you satisfied with the quality of the fabic and quality of workmanship?  Were they prompt in taking your order, filling the order and getting it shipped out?  And if anyone has had any issues, were they prompt in addressing your concerns?

Thanks!!

Well, one positive, she's not reselling the same garb that everyone else resells, Ya'll ever notice that? It's the same pictures on so many sites because they're reselling someone elses designs? The pictures I saw while perusing looked to be taken at faire... I've not purchased from her... You can also check her schedule to see if she's coming near you, looks like she does California and the West (Oregon, Idaho, Arizona...)

I'd like to know too. I'm looking for a good lined cloak and they look reasonable. I'd rather purchase one in person but if I can't find any on-site at PaRF, I'd like to find a quality online vendor.

RenStarr - Sorry, I do not know anything about the vendor, but is an interesting site. Looks like she travels to lots of shows so maybe you could ask on one of the subforums for the shows she goes to?

Cloaks I can help with! Mystic Tailor is onsite at Scarby and I bought a cloak and just love it. Haven't actually been able to use it for its intended purpose of keeping the rain off yet, but I really do love it and Doug (who is the owner I think) is very helpful and prompt. I would happily recommend them.

Oh, you mean Designs By Kate!  I've seen her at many of the Faires I attend here in Nor Cal. I've never bought any garb from her, since I sew my own stuff, but what I've looked at is well made. She seems like a really nice person, I've talked  to her about sewing a few times. I say if you like the garb and the prices, go for it!

I've never purchased anything from her, but I can tell you she's been around *forever.*

Thanks for the feedback and comments.  There's a few things that I do have my eyes on............... ;) so I think I'll look into making a few purchases and see how things go.

Gypsylakat:  you kinda hit the nail on the head as far as one of my chief concerns.  So many of the sites have the same pics (same article of clothing etc......with the same model) that makes me wonder where they buy it and who's making it?  I'd rather deal with someone who does business at faires AND runs an internet business.  Not just a group of internet sales/middlemen.

Ahhh... the wonders of Ren faire clothiers online.  Most are resellers of Sofies Stiches and Chiverly Sportsitems.  Hence the same pictures/models.  I prefer going to local seamstresses to have custom garb made like the bored housewife or my friend.
