Am wondering if anyone might be able to advise on what garb an Irish Nobleman & Lady would have worn in the midieval and ren periods???
Would be so greatful for any advice!
Thanks,
Sir Mitch
Dir Mitch, What areas of Ireland are you looking?
I'm not sure about Ireland, but wasn't Scotland already starting to be taken over by England (or was that later) and if that is the case, then those who had the power, who were the nobles were quite possibly placed there by England and quite possibly wore very british looking clothing.
Or, I could be way off base, lol
I agree with Lady Claira..
From what I remember, the Irish generally wore the same fashions, but being an island, and somewhat isolated, they could be a bit "behind the times" insofar as the latest fashions. Perhaps accenting with a celtic trim would make it more irish...or a fabric of kelley green!
Hope this helps! :)
The area where our ancestors originated was Derry County.
Here's a link to some info on the Derry area families.

Thank you so much reren!!! :D
Before 1600, Wild Irish of the North would have dressed in LEINE & INAR, as pictured here:

Otherwise they would have dressed as the English, only plainer (poorer) and in an out of date fashion.
Thanks Malcolm!!! Very helpful!
