Woot!
we want to make this a huge event.
please, please, please...pass the word.
lets have a 1,000 folk out to this gathering
all musicians and actors and entertainers and dancers and drummers and friend of fay...join us for this autumn celebration of sherwood forest faire.
this is the community of the forest
this is the community that embraces everyone who wants to be a part of something artful and musical and natural and fun
bring the kids, bring the parents, bring a beautiful dancing spirit
this is but one more stone being laid in the foundation of what we believe will be quite spectacular!
come experience something much stronger, much more powerful than disney--something organic and heartfelt and magical--but a different type magic: imagination, yes, but also, very primitive and soulful, a magic which permeates our dreams and our wishes, a magic that can be seen and felt in every child's face...
we are waking the spirit of mankind
we are dancing and howling at the moon
we are beating drums to bring us back to our roots
and we are creating our own sanctuary
where we can paint and have theatre and music and worship in the chapel or around the stone circle or both, where we will sit and eat together, tell stories, create memories, where our children will run and play and make life time friends--brothers and sisters in an extended family.

any talents--music, magic, flame twirlers, dancers, etc willing to entertain at the sept 19th gathering????
I am making tentative plans to attend. Oh I can't wait to see the ground! Hopfully the Gods see it fit for me to attend.
Oh... At this event will it be garb or danes?
Many arrive in garb! It was so warm for the last gathering I went in my Muggle disguise- first time to a renn event. Never again! More fun in garb!!!
Well, if tonight is any indication, I think the worst is over- just got back from a very breezy and pleasant Express game... Here's hoping! We'll probably go half garb, not sure yet...
i am hearing rumors that this gathering might exceed 500 folk.
pirates
sca
vendors
acting company
folk entertaining us
wiccans
drummers
playtrons from as far away as dallas
wild
i hope we make bastrop county feel the presence of the faire's spirit awakening
tell everyone
make sure they all know its open for family and friends alike
kid-friendly
(truthfully, hasn't it been great to see the hundred or so kids running through the campsite at nite playing as we sit or dance and listen to the music and the drums sipping our wine or downing our tankards?)
Okay, you have seen all the pleasantries planned for the gathering, now the sweat equity part (faint sounds of groaning over the Internet).
If you get onsite early enough, we would appreciate help in cleaning up the area. That means picking up all the branches on the ground, cutting low lying tree branches, chopping up the weeds/brush, and gathering everything in piles so that we can haul it all off for future burning. Last month we had 20-30 folks cleaning up the area by the party area. Only another 10 or so acres to go (grin).
Once the area is cleaned up, we can plant grass seed and make the area very pleasant.
Basic implements needed: Machete, hoe, grass rake, axe, chain saw, tree trimmer, metal rake, etc. Bring what you have.
If each person can clear a 50ft diameter area, we should be ahead of plan.
Hopefully I can make it!!!!!
OOOh Heart- you better! Mitch and I will be there and you know we'd LOVE to party with you!
I will sooooooo try to make it Kat! I miss you and Mitchiepoo!!!
I am planning on being there again! Woot!
can we get 500+ folk to this gathering?
have yall each spread the word to your friends, clan members, etc?
we need a decent estimation to make sure there is enough beer, water and soft drinks.
lets have lots of folk camping in the woods of sherwood on the 19th.
we will have another grounds work day in the morning--picking up sticks, cutting roots, etc.
we have a lot to do to prepare the forest floor for all the folk who will partake of the faire activities once the gates open in late february 1189 (2010).
let's know how many of you and yours are attending...
thanks,
rengypsy
ps. still seeking people to entertain us on the stage when the sun sets and leading up to the midnight gathering in the seven sisters celtic stone circle.
we have 2 for certain (me and hubby)
will there be details on the yahoo list about the workday? (when to get there, where we are working, etc?) We have a machete, and I'm buying a sturdy rake, etc
My hubby and I will try to make it. If we can, we will definitely be in our Pirate garb!
September 19th is TLAPD after all. ;)
I'll see if we can round up any of our crew to come as well.
