Title: Vegan leather corsets?
Post by: Seryn on September 03, 2009, 02:41:26 AM
So I've tried googling a million different terms in an attempt to find someone that makes vegan leather corsets, bodices, and accessories.  But I'm having no luck so far.  I was wondering if anyone else knew where I might find such things?

No offense intended but I just don't get why people call it vegan leather. Why not call it what it is- plastic? I bet if you google "faux leather" or "leather like" you'll find what you are looking for. Lord knows plenty of it comes up when searching for leather corsets.

All I did was type in "pleather corsets" and a bunch of sites pop up. I would of posted some of them but Im not sure what exactly you are look for. So I would say go to Google and type in "Pleather Corset" and happy hunting.

Vegan leather is basically a term used to describe non-pleather fake leather.  If that makes sense lol.  Pleather is plastic based but vegan leather is sometimes... I'm not sure what it's made of actually lol.

I didn't even think to google for pleather but I'll definitely try that now.  Definitely want to skip the pvc though.  I'm an old goth, so I used to wear my fair share of it, and maybe occassionally still do, but definitely not out in the sun - sooo hot.

Thanks for your ideas :)

Did not know that.  I'd seen that term popping up lately and was wondering about it.  It did strike me as rather oxymoronic, seeing as leather is, by definition, not vegan, but that's cool to know that what it's actually denoting is "not-pleather."

Thanks!

I would think that any garbmonger who does custom work would be able to make you a faux-leather corset.

Alternately, try searching for "faux leather," not "vegan."  I think you'll get a lot more hits that way.

I had a custom made faux-suede cropped bodice made by verymerryseamstress.com.   Don't know if that helps at all...??  Sorry, don't have any pictures.  It has only been worn one season when I was pregnant and the bust much smaller...  and since most of that season I felt horrible, not many pictures were taken.
